In Episode 60 I sit down with former Navy SEAL Johnny Sotello. Johnny and I connected at our mutual friend Seth Farwell’s funeral, and we immediately forged a friendship. Johnny and I talk about the SEAL teams, BUDS, deployments, and everything that lifestyle encompassed. More importantly though, Johnny discusses his new mission of helping combat veterans recover from Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury. He discusses at length the various treatment options and the different foundations that have assisted him in making a recovery regarding his own personal battle with PTS and what avenues proved most beneficial. I love this man; he is a true warrior with a heart of gold and is staying in the fight even though the wars are long behind us! For Episode 059 I drove to Kalispell Montana to record this episode with Aaron Westphal. Aaron is a deputy with the Flathead County Sheriff's Office and experienced a violent encounter many years ago that completely shifted his approach to training and capabilities needed for patrol. Since then, he has dedicated much of his life to training and recently received his black belt in jiu jitsu out of Straight Blast Gym Kalispell. I spent an evening there, training with the team and can’t say enough good things about that academy. If you’re local, definitely check it out! In Episode 058 I fly to Marina Del Rey CA to sit down with Paul De Gelder. Paul is an amazing person, and his positive energy is straight up contagious. Paul was an Australian Army veteran and then switched to the Navy to become a Navy Diver. While conducting a training exercise with the Navy in Sydney Harbor, Paul was attacked by a Bull Shark and was nearly killed. Paul lost an arm and a leg in the attack but has not let that slow him down for a second. He’s now a public speaker, author, conservationist, part owner of Striker Coffee, Co-host of “The Dirt Down Under” conservation podcast and a host for the Discovery Channel. This was a powerful episode as Paul shows us all how a positive perspective and perseverance can turn an unfortunate event into positivity and opportunity. In Episode 056 I sit down once again with Tobin Foulke to discuss EDC or Every Day Carry. EDC is something that has gained the attention of everyday Americans due to the volatile political and social landscape that has swept across this nation over the last 18 months. Be it the riots, COVID, government overreach etc., many people are drawing the conclusions that a certain level of preparedness is a necessary move. I know guys like Mike Glover and Greg Lapin that has invested a substantial amount of time and resources into preparedness and capabilities, and I can tell you it’s not from a place of fear, but quite the opposite. In the event of a natural disaster or political unrest, taking a few necessary steps ahead of time will actually combat fear and anxiety as you are sufficiently prepared to face the situation. Toby Foulke and I were both Army Rangers and capable men, but we are both new to the journey of overall preparedness and not being a subject matter expert, I thought it would be a fun episode to walk this journey together as we discuss the changes we’ve made and what we are putting a high amount of importance on. In Episode 054 I fly to Boise Idaho to sit down with Nate Silvester. Nate went viral after releasing a TikTok video where he portrayed a Patrol Officer asking LeBron James for advice on dealing with a knife wielding suspect. Nate was later fired from the Bellevue Idaho Marshals Office as a result of the video. While the video was funny and obviously a parody, it also highlights how the profession of Law Enforcement is held hostage by the woke left. We’re at a time in history where everyone can trash the police and if you anyone inside the profession shows courage or has a voice it’s cancel culture across America, the sad part is the leadership in most departments believe in exactly what I’m saying but they are too cowardly to stand on their own two feet and back their people.
