In Episode 058 I fly to Marina Del Rey CA to sit down with Paul De Gelder. Paul is an amazing person, and his positive energy is straight up contagious. Paul was an Australian Army veteran and then switched to the Navy to become a Navy Diver. While conducting a training exercise with the Navy in Sydney Harbor, Paul was attacked by a Bull Shark and was nearly killed. Paul lost an arm and a leg in the attack but has not let that slow him down for a second. He’s now a public speaker, author, conservationist, part owner of Striker Coffee, Co-host of “The Dirt Down Under” conservation podcast and a host for the Discovery Channel. This was a powerful episode as Paul shows us all how a positive perspective and perseverance can turn an unfortunate event into positivity and opportunity. In Episode 056 I sit down once again with Tobin Foulke to discuss EDC or Every Day Carry. EDC is something that has gained the attention of everyday Americans due to the volatile political and social landscape that has swept across this nation over the last 18 months. Be it the riots, COVID, government overreach etc., many people are drawing the conclusions that a certain level of preparedness is a necessary move. I know guys like Mike Glover and Greg Lapin that has invested a substantial amount of time and resources into preparedness and capabilities, and I can tell you it’s not from a place of fear, but quite the opposite. In the event of a natural disaster or political unrest, taking a few necessary steps ahead of time will actually combat fear and anxiety as you are sufficiently prepared to face the situation. Toby Foulke and I were both Army Rangers and capable men, but we are both new to the journey of overall preparedness and not being a subject matter expert, I thought it would be a fun episode to walk this journey together as we discuss the changes we’ve made and what we are putting a high amount of importance on. It's more than just guns and ammo, it’s an overall approach to life. In Episode 054 I fly to Boise Idaho to sit down with Nate Silvester. Nate went viral after releasing a TikTok video where he portrayed a Patrol Officer asking LeBron James for advice on dealing with a knife wielding suspect. Nate was later fired from the Bellevue Idaho Marshals Office as a result of the video. While the video was funny and obviously a parody, it also highlights how the profession of Law Enforcement is held hostage by the woke left. We’re at a time in history where everyone can trash the police and if you anyone inside the profession shows courage or has a voice it’s cancel culture across America, the sad part is the leadership in most departments believe in exactly what I’m saying but they are too cowardly to stand on their own two feet and back their people. He worked with some good friends of mine and it was interesting hearing stories of the Regiment following my era. In Episode 51 I sit down with retired Marine Corps Veteran Paul Gardner. Paul and I connected over instagram and I immediately wanted to use this platform to let him tell his story. Paul was with 2/5 Marines and partook in the Invasion of Iraq in March of 2003. On April 12th of that year Paul found himself in a close range gun battle with members of the Iraqi Army and sustained a life altering injury leaving him paralyzed. Pauls ability to live life with gratitude and positivity is something everyone needs to hear to gain some much needed perspective. I feel very fortunate that I got to spend a day with Paul and his wife Taylor, break bread with them and record this episode. Episode 050 takes us back to New Orleans, Louisiana where we had our second Guns and Gis Camp. I was able to sit down with my Jiu Jitsu coach Joao Assis and record an episode. Joao is a 7 time IBJJF World Champion and an ADCC champion. I received by blackbelt under him in 2014 and we’ve been close friends ever since. Joao grew up in Brazil and was able to chase the dream through Jiu Jitsu. He’s now close to obtaining his United States citizenship and shared that journey with us. Greg Lapin once again joins as we were all together about to run camp. Episode 049 takes me to the FOB Brewing company outside of Ft Lewis, Washington where I sit down with COL Jon Chung, CPT Hailey Gibbons and CPT Nick Ondovcsik. COL Chung is the Commander of 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team and Hail and Nick are both company commanders under his command. These Officers have had incredible military careers and we speak about a conglomerate of leadership topics such as: military leadership, soldier’s mental health, combat, as well as an in depth look at females inside of combat MOS’s. Hailey is scheduled to attend Ranger School this fall and I enjoyed getting a female perspective as well as asking the hard questions about intergrading sexes in both combat and training. I really enjoyed making the trip to Lewis for this episode and look forward to doing it again.
