105. Dom P Quartuccio: From Numbness To Greatness. How To Feel Your Way To A Happier Life

“When you hear this thing, "These days, it’s difficult to be a man," don’t buy the bullshit. I think there has never been a better time to be a man than today.” Are you in touch with your feelings? Or do you deliberately ignore or push down your emotions because they’re too difficult to feel? Dominick Quartuccio used to be the alpha male - a ladies man, and a high-performer. He clocked up a 15-year career in financial services and earned a corner office in Times Square. In the traditional sense, Dom was a huge ‘success’. But despite all his achievements, inside he felt restless and numb. Dom realized that he’d shrunk his emotional world so severely; he didn’t know how to feel. As a result, he lost access to the infinite wisdom within. He couldn’t access his intuition and this meant his inner greatness remained locked away. Something had to change... Dom committed to feeling his emotions. He discovered that instead of being ‘evil’, his emotions provided invaluable data. They gave fire and color to his life. This experience caused Dom to walk away from his financial career and create a life more aligned with his purpose. Nowadays, Dom is an international speaker, executive coach, and outspoken leader for high-caliber men doing the inner work. As the co-host of The Great Man podcast, Dom empowers men to confront the life-changing topics most never speak about, but inwardly struggle with. Dom is also the author of Design Your Future and the facilitator of men’s retreats where he helps men design their next decade. “If the only catalyst for change in your life is waiting for some outside force to beat down upon you, then how in control of your life are you really?” In this episode, Dom and I explore: Why it’s a great time to be a manHow Dom ended up in Sex Addicts AnonymousHow you can lean into the courage to feelWhy you’re probably drifting through life - and what to do about it The difference between masculine and feminine energies - and why you need a balance of bothThe first step to discovering your purposeThe two competing men inside you And more…I believe we’re all being called to go deeper and explore the parts of our inner being that will lead to a happier, more fulfilled life. Dom is a master at making these challenging topics feel comfortable - giving you the confidence and the courage to take those first steps. There’s a Great Man within you… Dom is the man to help draw him out.  “The antidote to drifting is intentionality.” How to contact www.DoInnerWork.comhttps://www.facebook.com/dquartucciohttps://www.instagram.com/dominickq/The Great Man podcast - https://www.doinnerwork.com/podcastEpisodes mentioned: The #1 Enemy to Living a Powerful LifeDesign the Next Decade of Your Life Part !Design the Next Decade of Your Life Part II11 Ideas to Design Your Morning RoutineLearn more about Dom’s masterminds at www.thegreatmanmastermind.comGet your free download - 5 Practices to Make You a Mentally Tougher ManWe thrive on your feedback, so if you’ve enjoyed this show, please rate us and leave us a review. 102. Kelly Fitzsimmons: How To Navigate Big Failures And Come Out On Top

“When we’re in struggle, that’s when our shadow and demons show up and dance.” What happens when you experience a huge failure in business? For many entrepreneurs, failure brings dark times. We’re so used to wrapping our identity around what we do that when things don’t work out, our self-worth plummets. This episode’s guest found herself in this exact situation - putting herself in $5 million of personal debt. In fact, her situation was so challenging, she found herself in a place where she felt she was worth more dead than she was alive. This is the dark side of entrepreneurship - a side that’s not often spoken about in public, but it’s a time when business owners need the most support. So after coming out of the other side of failure, Kelly wrote Lost in Startuplandia: Wayfinding for the Weary Entrepreneur - a book written to share her own experiences and insights about the start-up journey.  So if you’re struggling with failure and you need a boost to help you navigate this all-too-common phase of entrepreneurship, this episode is for you. Tune in now to discover the possibilities that arise when you embrace what failure has to teach you - and how you can survive and thrive, even when you feel knocked down. “Failure itself is not the problem, it’s our relationship with failure. It’s how we hold it, it’s how we define it, or how we let it define us.” When it comes to business success and failure, Kelly has experienced both sides of the spectrum. Kelly is a serial tech entrepreneur, artist, angel investor, and mother of two. She’s the co-founder of Custom Reality Services, a virtual reality (VR) production company whose first two projects, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She’s also the recipient of the Silvertip PwC Entrepreneurship Award and Speech Technology’s Luminary Award.Check out this episode and discover: The predictable traps for failure - and how to navigate themThe reason YOU get to define what failure meansWhy we’re all liars and how honesty can set you freeHow a brain injury transformed Kelly’s mindset for life [and inspired her to write her book]What to watch for when sharing your truth with othersThe dangers of basing your self-worth on your workAnd more…Kelly experienced spectacular failure, but survived to tell the tale! In fact, she’s emerged stronger and more courageous as a result of her experiences. Kelly’s story is a reminder that failure in business doesn’t mean the end of the road. Instead, it can be the catalyst for a rebirth and a life lived in more alignment with who you are. Don’t miss this one.  “We can succeed in the cultural definition of success with money and fail as a human being. 99. Megan McNealy: How to Take Care Of Yourself and Experience Rapid Success As A Result

“Well-being is an ongoing thing. It’s a way of life. It isn’t a trend.” The paradigm is outdated. You don’t need to be successful before you can focus on your well-being. According to this episode’s guest - Megan McNealy - you can DO and BE well at the same time. More than that, if you make well-being a focal point for your life, you can actually LEVERAGE it to create even more success. Nowadays, Megan is an impact-driven entrepreneur and founder of Well-Being Drives Success - a multi-faceted platform that serves people striving for exceptional wellness and extraordinary success. But she didn’t always prioritize well-being. As an award winning, 20+ year First Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor at one of the largest financial firms in the world, Megan chased the traditional model of success. As a high achiever, she worked the hours and invested in the hustle. But in 2010, her life crescendoed into the ‘perfect storm’. Megan’s health had begun to deteriorate when she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. This condition froze her hands until she was unable to hold a pen and caused pain while walking. Then she contracted chronic kidney disease followed by kidney cancer. Megan felt like she was trying to catch a falling knife. She was broken down on the side of the road with no clear way out. It was then that she turned her focus to well-being - but not the traditional model of sleep, diet, and exercise. Instead, she created a holistic lifestyle that was based on 18 different practices - all focusing a different area of wellness. Megan’s “wealth-being” wheel helped her focus on her mind, body, and spirit - and it was so effective, it literally saved her life. After discovering that plenty of other high-ranking executives are suffering behind the scenes, Megan felt called to share what she’d discovered. It’s how her new book - Reinvent the Wheel: How Top Leaders Leverage Well-Being for Success was born. “I promised when I was sick that if I ever lived that I would devote the rest of my life to helping other people. That’s how I stay grounded.” It’s not unusual for workaholics people to believe a focus on well-being will derail their life. We kid ourselves that we don’t have enough time to meditate, journal, or take up soul-lifting activities. But what if the opposite was true? Between 2010-2018, Megan quadrupled her income. This timescale correlates directly with Megan’s wellness-first philosophy. The reality is, wellness can be leveraged for elevated levels of success, and in this episode, Megan reveals why. Check it out now and discover: Megan’s holistic definition of well-beingWhy there’s a new age of wellness-first executives rising Why gratitude is the ultimate cheat-codeThe best place to start your well-being practiceWhy wellness needs a mind, body, and spirit componentHow to leverage well-being in your lifeAnd more…If you keep putting well-being on the backburner because your work takes priority, you’ll take a lot from this episode.
