Minisode Ep. 25 - Something Weird Is Happening To Me

Send us a textIn this week's minisode, I'm talking about the weird thing that has been happening to me since getting my kitten, Johnny Depp. When Johnny moved in I expected, if anything, that the feelings of broodiness I've been experiencing for the last few years might subside. How wrong I was!It turns out that getting a kitten has unleashed a multitude of latent maternal instincts that I never even realised were lurking inside of me. It's as if the floodgates of potential motherhood have been unlocked, and this tiny 'fur baby' has only served to remind my body that what it really wants is an ACTUAL baby. But that's the thing. It's my body that wants it - not my mind. Because my mind knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that having a human baby would take my life in a direction that I do not want it to go.Press 'Play' and let me know what you think.Fancy getting your hands on my FREE Top 10 Mindset Tips? Minisode Ep. 24 - The Importance Of What We Consume

Send us a textIn this week's minisode, I'm talking about how important it is to be mindful of what we're consuming. And I'm not talking about food here...;)Many of us aren't particularly intentional or mindful about what we consume on a daily basis, and as such we don't realise the negative impact that certain content may be having on our mindsets. The plethora of information coming at us in the form of news, social media, TV, newspapers, and even the people we spend time with, can actually have more of a detrimental effect on our state of mind - and therefore our lives - than we perhaps recognise.   With this in mind, is it time to take stock of the kind of content that we expose ourselves to every day, and perhaps substitute a portion of it for something more uplifting and inspirational? After all, the better we feel, the better we show up in the world; and that can only be a good thing for both us and those we love.  Press 'Play' and let me know what you think. The One Where I Talk To Mindset Mentor, Nicola Salter

Send us a textIn this week's episode of Spinsterhood Reimagined, I talk to mindset mentor and empowerment coach, Nicola Salter.Nicola is a British Empowerment Mindset Mentor and Business/Personal Coach who has worked in the US for over 25 years.  She has helped over 14,000 women redefine themselves, find purpose and drop their limiting beliefs.  She works with corporations, helping their employees to build more resilience to stress; Nicola previously worked for the BBC the IoD and the Hospitality Training Foundation in London.  Her unique proven methods are holistic and focus in on mindset, changing belief patterns and empowering change.  She is also a podcaster with her own show ‘Your Unique Brilliance’ as well as an Author. In this conversation, Nicola and I discuss how she got into all things holistic and spiritual despite her corporate background; how she’s passionate about identifying the limiting beliefs that hold women back; and how fear tends to be at the root of most of our problems. We also talk about Nicola’s how our socialisation is where many of our false beliefs about being single originate from; how being single and childfree is the perfect time to be curious about our lives and to discover what our purpose is; and how although Nicola went through difficult times in terms of not having children, she was able to deal with them better due to having found another purpose in her life.      Nicola also talks about how to discover and develop ‘your unique brilliance’; the quantum field, frequencies, and how there is energy behind our thoughts; how the heart’s magnetic field is 5000 times stronger than the magnetic field around our brain and how, subsequently, we should all be listening more to our hearts; and the importance of breath work and meditation on both our physical and emotional wellbeing. Finally, we talk about Nicola’s experience of not having children, how she has navigated that journey, and how others can too. Minisode Ep. 23 - Taking Imperfect Action

Send us a textIn this week's minisode, I'm talking about the importance of taking imperfect action -  even when we don't feel ready, even when we don't know what we're doing, even when it seems scary, and especially when it's...not perfect. How many times have you put off starting something - or not started it at all - because you felt like you weren't ready? And how many times have you wanted to do something, but you've let fear get in the way of taking that very first baby step?In this episode, I'm talking about why it's so, so crucial to...Just. Take. Action.  Messy, flawed, imperfect action. Whether the dream is to write the book, start the business, or change career, it's only by actually getting in the game and taking that first action, that clarity and confidence will come. So...what are you waiting for...?! Press 'Play' and let me know what you think. The One Where I Talk About Living Alone

Send us a textSupport the showThis week, it’s another SOLO episode with yours truly! In this week’s episode of Spinsterhood Reimagined, I talk about living alone and why I bloody love it. I talk about my current hobbit-sized flat, how I came to live in it, and how it truly is my sanctuary.I also talk about some of the wonderful advantages of living solo, including the more superficial things (like getting to listen to your own music and watch what you want on TV) - as well as the more significant things (like not having to deal with someone else's moods, and having the physical, mental and spiritual space to grow.)   People often perceive women who live by themselves as somehow tragic, or sad, or lonely, or miserable. But that's because they've never stopped to think about (or experience) the wonderful benefits that having our very own place affords us. Because, quite frankly, it would take someone seriously awesome for me to even consider giving up the joy that is living alone. I hope that you enjoy this episode and that some of it resonates with you.Join my private Facebook Group: Join my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1870817913309222/?ref=shareFollow me on Instagram: @spinsterhoodreimaginedFollow me on Twitter: @LucyMeggesonEmail me: lucymeggeson@gmail.com Check out my website: www.lucymeggeson.com  Support the showBuy my book, SHINY HAPPY SINGLES (UK) / THRIVE SOLO (US & Canada) at: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/book Join my membership community for single women, Thrive Solo: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/thrivesolo Download my FREE PDF 'Top 10 Comebacks for the MostAnnoying Questions Single Women Get Asked' Go to: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/comebacks Check out my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thrivesolowithlucymeggeson Join my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1870817913309222/?ref=share Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thrivesolowithlucymeggeson/ Email me: lucy@lucymeggeson.com And thank you so much for listening!

The One Where I Talk To Writer & Podcaster, Laura Price

Send us a textIn this week's episode of Spinsterhood Reimagined, I talk to food writer, author and podcaster, Laura Price. Laura Price is a multilingual journalist and host of the podcast 'Life in Food with Laura Price'. After growing up in Yorkshire, Laura lived in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Ireland before finally settling in London with her fiancé, three stepdaughters, two cats and one step-dog. At twenty-nine, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and at thirty-nine, she found out it had spread; she now lives with stage four, incurable cancer. Single Bald Female is her first novel, and was inspired by her experiences of dating after breast cancer. In this conversation, Laura and I discuss the very honest dating profile she used following her breast cancer diagnosis, including photos of her with a bald head following chemo; what it was like to go through cancer as a young, single woman following her 2012 diagnosis; and how having a secondary diagnosis impacts the way that she lives her life now. We also talk about Laura's experiences of solo travel all around the world, including Columbia and Australia; how breast cancer removed any chance of her having a baby, but how she has made peace with it; and how her novel, Single Bald Female, will be her legacy.      Laura also tells me about how she was always very happy as a single person and has always loved spending time alone; how she has always the kind of girl who would rather be single than be in the wrong relationship; and how one of the problems with online dating is that there is too much choice, and yet ironically it's impossible to find someone! Follow Laura on Instagram: @laurapricewritesFollow Laura on Twitter: @LauraPriceWriteLaura's Website: https://www.laura-price.comLaura's newsletter, Doughnuts for Breakfast with Laura Price: https://lauraprice.substack.com/ UK Link to Laura's book, Single Bald Female: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Single-Bald-Female-Laura-Price/dp/152907424X/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1664652967&sr=8-1 US Link to Laura's book, Single Bald Female: https://www.amazon.com/Single-Bald-Female-Laura-Price/dp/152907424X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=JRQ70X82J36V&keywords=single+bald+female+laura+price&qid=1664653039&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjQ1IiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=single+bald+female+laura+price%2Caps%2C414&sr=8-1  Apple Podcasts link to Laura's podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/life-in-food-with-laura-price/id1614254296Spotify Link to Laura's podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/4bYjs0V1CpOEGodov38fxW  Join my private Facebook Group: Join my private Facebook Group: Support the showBuy my book, SHINY HAPPY SINGLES (UK) / THRIVE SOLO (US & Canada) at: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/book Join my membership community for single women, Thrive Solo: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/thrivesolo Download my FREE PDF 'Top 10 Comebacks for the MostAnnoying Questions Single Women Get Asked' Go to: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/comebacks Check out my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thrivesolowithlucymeggeson Join my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1870817913309222/?ref=share Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thrivesolowithlucymeggeson/ Email me: lucy@lucymeggeson.com And thank you so much for listening!

Minisode Ep. 21 - Why I Don't Do Online Dating

Send us a textIn this week's minisode, I'm talking about why I don't do online dating.Over the years, I've lost count of the number of times people have reacted with surprise at the fact that I've never used a dating app. Well, the simple reason is that I just don't want to - never have, never will.  The idea of scrolling through my phone, looking at thousands of photos of random blokes in an attempt to find a boyfriend, frankly, leaves me cold. And let's not forget that the exact same things, situations and places still exist that always have done in respect of how millions of people have got together with each other for hundreds of years. So yeah...when it comes to Tinder, Bumble, or whatever online dating portal takes your fancy, I think I'm going to leave it up to fate instead.  Somehow I don't think that the guy with his pecks out standing in front of a tiger in his profile pic is the love of my life...[insert exploding head emoji here].  Press 'Play' and let me know what you think.Fancy getting your hands on my FREE Top 10 Mindset Tips? The One Where I Talk To Clarity Coach, Keltie Maguire

Send us a textIn this week’s episode of Spinsterhood Reimagined, I talk to clarity coach and former jewellery designer, Keltie Maguire.Keltie is a Clarity Coach who helps small business owners and professionals get clear on what they really want in business and life, and ultimately, create the existence they crave. As a Canadian expat living in Munich, Germany, Keltie is an avid hiker, craft beer lover, and travel enthusiast who is all about creating a life by design, rather than default. In this conversation, Keltie and I talk about all sorts of things around being childfree or childless, whichever of those terms you resonate with the most, including: how, for years, she always assumed that children were somewhere in her future but how she continually pushed the idea of them into the background; the conversations she had with her husband around whether or not they would have kids and how they were both ‘wishy washy’ around the subject; and how she decided to stop worrying about the baby factor until she turned 35.We also discuss how moving to Germany was the catalyst that drove Keltie to make a decision as to whether or not she wanted to have a baby; the huge amount of confusion that comes with not being clear one way or another; the things that people say such as “You’ll regret it if you don’t have kids”; and how making the conscious decision that she will have a good life, whether or not she has children in the future, has brought Keltie peace and removed much of her confusion.Keltie and I also explore the idea that we all have a choice in terms of what we focus on in life, and how important it is to choose to embrace the benefits of being childfree; how none of us are immune to the underlying narratives around the expectation on women that they will have children; how women who don’t have children are sometimes portrayed as being ‘unnatural’, as though becoming a mother ‘completes’ our womanliness; and we also touch on the highly sensitive topic of women who regret having kids.  And finally, Keltie tells me her thoughts around the concept of the ‘biological clock’; how turning 40 brought her some relief with regards her decision to not have children; and how she almost didn’t get married because she has always taken issue with the fact that marriage is perceived as necessary to ‘validate’ a relationship.  Follow Keltie on Instagram: @keltiemaguireFollow Keltie on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/keltiemaguire/Washington Post article from 1978 that coined the phrase ‘biological clock’: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1978/03/16/the-clock Support the showBuy my book, SHINY HAPPY SINGLES (UK) / THRIVE SOLO (US & Canada) at: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/book Join my membership community for single women, Thrive Solo: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/thrivesolo Download my FREE PDF 'Top 10 Comebacks for the MostAnnoying Questions Single Women Get Asked' Go to: https://www.lucymeggeson.com/comebacks Check out my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@thrivesolowithlucymeggeson Join my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1870817913309222/?ref=share Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thrivesolowithlucymeggeson/ Email me: lucy@lucymeggeson.com And thank you so much for listening!
