S1E7: TSMC and Taiwan's semiconductor industry, all started 40 years ago at a soy milk restaurant
Warren Buffett announced last week that he bought TSMC Stock - American Depositary Receipts (ADR), which is worth more than 4.1 billion dollars. This is a rare major investment in the technology sector by Buffett's conglomerate. How is TSMC favored by international investors? Be Everyone's Foundry, that is the main strategy of TSMC. In the 1980s, Taiwanese government planned to cultivate the semiconductor industry for Taiwan's economic development. Then, TSMC was founded. TSMC's achievement lies in changing the global semiconductor division of labor. Before Morris Chang, wafer foundry was considered an impossible task since customers were afraid of leaking or plagiarizing chip designs, so they were reluctant to hand over chips to foundries for manufacturing. However, TSMC has persuaded a huge number of companies with its high-standard integrity management. TSMC has now become the largest semiconductor fabrication plant in the world. S1E6: Taiwan's supply chain facilitates the growth of space industry
With the advent of the global space age, countries are competing with each other for a foothold in outer space. What role does Taiwan play in this space competition? Among the 105 low earth orbit satellites launched by Space X in January 2022, one of them is a " spherical-motor-based " microsatellite developed by Taiwanese space startup Tensor Technology. The 22-year-old founder of Tensor Technology, Thomas Yen and his entrepreneurial partners have built the world's one and only spherical motor for commercial use. Through their satellite attitude control system, it saves 2/3 of the space and volume of the satellite, and nearly save one hundred thousand dollars cost in one launch. Yen also mentions that the advantages of developing the space industry in Taiwan are that the electronics industry is well-founded, the OEM supply chain is complete and intensive, and components can be produced quickly. For example, after a product is designed in Taipei, it can be produced in the Hsinchu Science Industrial Park. The two places are close to each other so that they can often communicate and coordinate with manufacturers in person to ensure the quality of product. Outline : 🚀What is Tensor’s main mission and idea? 🚀What kind of product does Tensor provide? 🚀Why satellite minimization matters? 🚀What are the advantages of Taiwan’s supply chain? 🚀The future of space industry Host: Uly Su, Entrepreneur In Residence @Business Next Media Corp. What makes foreigners want to settle or even naturalise in Taiwan? What’s more, they make a gigantic contribution to Taiwanese cryptocurrency ecosystem. “I’m convinced that the future of finance is cryptocurrency, in one form or another, and you can see that it has already become a reality,” says Leo Seewald, the former president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (AmCham Taiwan) and the former country head of BlackRock in Taiwan. Meanwhile, we invited Akio Tanaka, co-founder and partner at Headline Asia and currently settled in Taiwan. Tanaka has experiences in Japanese stablecoin JPYC and he shares the process during the development of JPYC. So, what are the lessons that TWDC might learn from JPYC? S1E4: Acquired by Stablecoin Fintech Unicorn, How Taiwan’s CYBAVO Protect Everyone’s Digital Assets
As the popularity of cryptocurrencies has increased, many companies have begun to invest in virtual currency. However, this new technology has also created new problems, that is, how to manage the "private key", which symbolizes the control of funds since once the private key is stolen or lost, the digital assets in your account will never be recoverable or cashed. Taiwanese startup Cybavo stands out in this battle of information security. Its products build a powerful digital asset management system to protect digital assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance operational efficiency. The products of Cybavo are favored by the U.S. fintech unicorn Circle, which acquired Cybavo in June this year. The partnership between CYBAVO and Circle will achieve the vision of bringing blockchain infrastructure, digital assets and digital currencies to the masses and mainstreaming Web 3. We invited COO of Cybavo, Jordan Forssman, as our guest today to introduce Cybavo, to share their contribution in cryptocurrency security and his thoughts about the role that Taiwan plays in Web 3 ecosystem. Outline : ✅Introduction: the CYBAVO company ✅New concept: something new that comes out of Web3 ✅Web 3 security: private key, digital asset protection and risk control ✅Prospect: next step for crypto security ✅Web 3 & Taiwan: the role of Taiwan in Web 3 ecosystem Host & Guest: Jon <> Jordan 👉More news of Taiwan startups: https://meetstartup.pse.is/4jhd5u 👉Follow us on LinkedIn: https://meetstartup.pse.is/4hhbhg 📪 Email us: global@bnext.com.tw Leave a comment and share your thoughts: https://open.firstory.me/user/cl8jubp5t01v601sl4vys57dj/comments Powered by Firstory Hosting

S1E3: Memos for the Next Millennium: Web3
The emergence of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin has influenced intensively the global financial situation. The extension of the blockchain, Web3, builds the foundation for the financial provision of the next generation, which is impossible to achieve with Web 1 and Web 2. Taiwan's neo fintech Web3 startup XREX builds a bridge between cross-border, virtual and reality financial world with its blockchain technology. They successfully obtained a Money Services Business (MSB) license from the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) this year, laying a foundation in the global financial market. XREX has obtained 8 international licenses and registrations, including: United States, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia and Taiwan. They’re currently in the process of applying for licenses in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. In addition to international licenses and registrations, XREX also obtained ISO/IEC 27001 information security certification in August this year, which is a set of international standards jointly issued by the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in order to verify whether the organization's information security management system (ISMS) has a complete risk assessment and management plan. XREX passed all 114 application standards without any error and spent less time than others to obtain this certification. In this episode, we invited the Co-founder & CEO to XREX, Wayne Huang, to talk about blockchain, Web3 and his prospect toward neo fintech. Outline : ✅What is Web 3 ?
