Be There in Five
Kate Kennedy
Be There in Five is a pop culture and millennial zeitgeist-focused podcast by Kate Kennedy (entrepreneur, author, pop culture commentator). Long-form and solo hosted, Be There in Five explores different facets of popular culture in a comedic, thoughtful, and analytical way, covering entertainment, social media, bloggers/influencers, and celebrities, in addition to focusing on the humor found in reexamining the 90s/00s as an adult (from AIM to Zenon). As one listener described it, "come for the relatable humor and lighthearted topics, stay for the surprising levels of depth and thoughtfulness injected into them."

PER MY LAST EMAIL
This week, per last Friday's Instagram story, Kate takes on the realities of women in the workforce and the [at times] hilarities of being in the corporate world. From business casual attire, e-mail passive aggression, and corporate jargon all the way to listeners' examples of gender coded condescension, she attempts to describe the issues women face at work through a comedic and analytic lens. Please advise. Warmest regards, Kate SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! Bonus: Harry & Meghan (Finding Freedom Book Review with Merritt Beck)
This week's bonus episode is a conversation with BTI5 royal correspondent Merritt Beck (@merrittbeck, The Style Scribe) about Omid Scobie's book that details Harry & Meghan's time in the spotlight, "Finding Freedom." They discuss what stood out to them in each phase of their relationship, from the courtship, engagement, wedding, and baby to ultimately stepping down as working royals. Did Kate & Merritt think it was an accurate portrayal? Did they need all these elaborate descriptions of food? Do they believe Meghan *really* wasn't involved in perhaps the most flattering book of all time? Note: Kate decided to upload the long uncut version, so this is longer than usual, but she assumed more is more when it comes to royal enthusiasts. Enjoy! Mormoney, Less Problems
This week, Kate resurrects her Mormon Mommy Blogger series to discuss a few recent obsessions she has in this space. After some reflection on last year's series, she analyzes her recent journey following a blog called Turtle Creek Lane in a level of hypnotizing excess she deems comparable to their decor. She also discusses Mormon homesteader bloggers, finding out Twilight was written by an LDS author, and ex-Mormon whistleblowers, among other things. Enjoy! Support our sponsors! For the most part, this episode revisits moments where Kate is laughing on the verge of tears, with clips ranging from Mormon Mommy Bloggers, sororities, weddings, Bath & Body Jerks, blind spots, and more. Fingertip Lengthy
This week, Kate takes on all different types of dress codes. After seeing a meme about how nothing brings women together quite like an unclear dress code, she was inspired to go through confusing and specific wedding/event dress codes, i.e. snappy casual, that coincidentally make her want to casually snap at the host. After going through some examples of listeners' unclear dress codes submitted on Instagram, she switches gears to discuss school dress codes and the unfair double standards upheld in their enforcement. She explores modern dress codes in different areas, discusses the implications of authority figures' commentary on adolescent women's bodies, the emphasis they imply on male education, and talks through some of the shockingly discriminatory language found in many dress codes. After that, she finishes off the episode by reading listener-submitted stories with her sister Kelly, about both school and wedding dress code mishaps. Enjoy! Support our sponsors! Taylore
This week, Kate deep dives into Taylor Swift's surprise 8th studio album: Folklore. This album has everything; cardigans, soothing somber melodies, indie-rock flair, clandestine meetings and stolen stares. She walks through her favorite lyrics, the standout themes, the [somewhat limited, relatively speaking] Easter Eggs we know about, among many other Taylore-related tangents. In this podforsaken mess of an episode, she also meanders through what she deems to be the broader symbolism of the concept of folklore at this point in her career, how it ties to Miss Americana, and how this album is somehow both the most and least 'her' thing all at the same time. In lieu of a part 2, this episode is extra lengthy and detailed by design for those of you that are looking for a friend to talk TS with while social distancing. The devil's in the details, but you've got a friend in me :) Enjoy! Bonus: Indian Matchmaking (with Aparna Shewakramani)
This week, Kate sits down with Aparna Shewakramani, the breakout star of Netflix's hit show Indian Matchmaking, to discuss all things reality tv, matchmaking, first dates, strategic editing, double standards, and of course, Bolivian Salt Flats. She provides really insightful context in terms of the origin of the show, the actual dialogue that happened on the dates (pre-editing), and her experience (so far) emerging as a polarizing character. Does she really hate beaches and comedy?
