In this sermon, which I recently delivered at Cowboy Church in Alexandria, I discuss the exchange of Jesus for Barabbas during the Passover feast. I begin by giving a brief contextual summary of Matthew 26 leading up to this event, which occurs in Matthew 27, where I share a verse-by-verse exegesis, and I end the message with some important applications and the symbolic nature of the passage in terms of the Gospel.

In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Shepard Merritt to discuss his experience with the New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist (NIFB) Church as well as with the Church's insistence on using only the King James Version of the Bible. It's not merely that the church teaches you should use the KJV, but it also teaches that other versions are demonic and attempting to deceive people with false teachings. Shepard describes how he got pulled in by the church's teachings on Faith Alone, Scripture Alone, and Grace Alone, but how the doctrine of Scripture Alone was twisted to really mean King James Version Alone, a gross misrepresentation of one of the five solas of the Reformation. Also discussed are the red flags that started to show up in his study of NIFB teachings that led to him to start questioning the church. One of the biggest red flags he noticed was how reprobation and imprecatory prayers (as well as KJV Only radicalism) were taught with equal importance to the Gospel, signifying how out of focus some of the leaders of the NIFB church can be. We want to be clear that this is not meant to criticize anyone within the NIFB church personally, but simply to bring to light some of the errors of NIFB and KJV Only teachings so that all of us can grow stronger in the faith together as we lift each other in humble obedience to Jesus Christ. This video hopes to express a James 3:17-18 (NASB 1995, my emphasis) attitude, "17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." We hope to push Christians to be peaceable and open to reason so we can all grow in love, gentleness, mercy, and good fruits. In this short episode, I (Daniel) provide 7 Evidences for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In this episode, I look at the differences between the NASB 2020 and the NASB 1995. In the Preface to the NASB 2020, The Lockman Foundation claims to have attempted to make the NASB 2020 more "gender accurate", as well as easier to read through using language that is common and more understandable to the modern English reader. Overall, there are lots of changes and corrections that were good and extremely necessary; however, there are many that were unnecessary, making this translation not quite what many people hoped for. Although, it does seem to be a reliable translation, apart from a few minor shortcomings. I discuss the differences in the 1995 and 2020 versions in 1st Corinthians 6:18 (here the NASB 2020 improved upon the translation of the the Greek word porneian - now it is translated as sexual immorality instead of just simply immorality). The differences at Genesis 1:2, Romans 5:12, 1st Timothy 2:1-2, and Romans 12:1 are also discussed, along with a brief review of comments made on Alpha & Omega Ministries YouTube channel about these differences: (you can watch their full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5FDS6tnklI). Overall, my view of the NASB 2020 is that it has become more dynamic, and in some ways this is great, but in some ways this loses some of the easter eggs and deeper meanings found in a more literal rendering of the text of Scripture.
