She is a moderator in my Mixed Neurotype Facebook Group (search Jodi Carlton on Facebook) and follower of the podcast.   Wendy asked me to have a conversation with her about masking, which is a topic that comes up frequently in conversations about neurodiversity. Wendy has lived most of her adult life without knowing about her neurodiversity.   Watch the full episode on YouTube at YouTube.com/@JodiCarlton.   ___________________ 👩‍💼 Hi, I'm Jodi Carlton and I'm a leading world expert on adult autistic relationship dynamics and communication. Neurodivergent Lying: Avoidant or Toxic?

BONUS podcast: Let's talk about lying. There are a lot of reasons why everybody lies. Neurodivergent partners have specific reasons why they lie, and sometimes it's different from the reasons why neurotypical partners lie.   It's important to look for toxic types of lies that are strategic and intended to harm or that inflate one's ego at the expense of others. These are different from the avoidant types of lies that range from "little white lies" to fear and avoidance of consequences or a partner's response or reaction.   If there is a lot of lying in your relationship and you need some help figuring it out, you can book a consultation to speak with me directly to get some answers. My coaching program is designed to help you get clarity and solutions for a better life. ___________________ 👩‍💼 Hi, I'm Jodi Carlton and I'm a leading world expert on mixed neurotype relationship dynamics and communication. Spiritual Abuse in Neurodiverse Relationships

When a person's faith and spiritual values are used to coerce, convince, or control and manipulate, devastating harm is done. Weaponized faith is all too common, and I see the trauma it causes in so many of the men and women who contact me for help. "Scripts" about the roles of men and women, and husbands and wives, are often conveyed by well-meaning religious leaders, but then, in the neurodivergent community, applied rigidly in a relationship. Both partners often participate in reinforcing a coercive and controlling dynamic that utilizes shame, guilt, and obligation to get one or both partner's needs met - both believing they are following the beliefs of their faith. This relationship is ultimately highly dysfunctional, and can become toxic and abusive. Take a moment to listen to my conversation with Dan and Stephanie Holmes, who are Christian neurodiverse relationship specialists. This concept applies to people of all faiths and value-systems because these same dynamics occur in any relationship where beliefs and values are used to manipulate. ___________________ 👩‍💼 Hi, I'm Jodi Carlton and I'm a leading world expert on mixed neurotype relationship dynamics and communication. Neurodiversity Challenges in Christian Marriages

I am frequently asked the question "How do I stay committed to my Christian values of being compassionate and selfless without losing myself and my identity - especially when my autistic partner doesn't believe my needs are valid?" I recently had a Q & A with Dan and Stephanie Holmes where we talk about this and so much more. Dan and Stephanie founded the International Association of NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages, LLC to bring hope, help, and possible healing to NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages. Their ministry also includes educating and equipping helping professionals, clinicians, and ministers with effective coaching and counseling strategies by first understanding and accepting the complexities of NeuroDiverse Christian Marriages.  Visit Dan and Stephanie online at: https://www.christianneurodiversemarriage.com ___________________ 👩‍💼 Hi, I'm Jodi Carlton and I'm a leading world expert on mixed neurotype relationship dynamics and communication. Toxicity Was My Own Dealbreaker - Not Neurodiversity

S2E9 In today's episode, part two with my best friend, Kathy, we have a really important conversation about toxic traits and how that's a very different thing from neurodiversity.  Kathy and I both have experienced toxic personalities in our marriages and our relationships.  This the last episode of my summer series on communication and of sharing my personal neurodiverse relationships with you.  If you missed any of the previous episodes, go back and through Season 2 and meet my autistic daughter, Abby, and her brother, Aidan, as well as my mother.  I'm so glad they all agreed to be on the show and share our neurodiverse relationships with all of you!  It's not just about marriages - neurodiverse relationships are of all kinds! Also, I'm taking a short break before we bring Season 3 to you (in about a month), but we will be dropping some neurodiverse relationship Q & A, and tips here for you, so stay tuned!
