A Study of Thessalonians (Part 2) | The Church That Is Irresistibly Authentic

“Irresistible authenticity” describes early Christianity and the Apostle Paul’s ministry. People can argue with what we say but can’t argue with what they see. 3 STEPS TO MAKING AUTHENTIC DISCIPLES OF CHRIST… Be the Church that is irresistibly authentic. REACHING. It was what Paul did more than what he said that proved the authenticity of his ministry, which is why he reached many. This is why he had faith worth following! TEACHING. You grow spiritually from infancy to maturity by increasing your knowledge biblically and walking obediently. REPRODUCING. As a spiritual father, Paul desired to reproduce Christlikeness in his spiritual sons and daughters. You can teach what you know, but you reproduce what you are. Making disciples is more than the transfer of knowledge theologically. It’s the transfer of spiritual maturity. A Study of Thessalonians (Part 1) | The Church of Irresistible Influence

The church at Thessalonica was a church of irresistible influence. They were living proof of a loving God to a watching world. 3 things made the Thessalonians a church of irresistible influence… Their work of FAITH. They placed their faith in the resurrected Christ, radically changing lives. Their faith in Christ unleashed the work of the Holy Spirit within them and revealed the holiness of the one true God. Their labor of LOVE. The Thessalonians were loving and serving, despite persecution and affliction. Many find the Church irresistible for being a loving community, yet others fie it reprehensible for its holy living. Their HOPE in Jesus. The Thessalonians’ hope was in the resurrection and return of the Lord Jesus Christ. They were a voice of hope to those around them. The church of irresistible influence stands for TRUTH, is known for LOVE, and is the voice of HOPE. The Power of Motherhood

The power of motherhood is to shape their children and future generations. While our modern culture sometimes teaches that women having children is a problem, God considers having children a privilege and the role of the mother of utmost importance. The goal of motherhood is to train up our children to be more than “good” but truly godly! This demands we start early and do the hard work daily. The priority and power of motherhood is to teach their children their identity. Children naturally ask, “Who am I?” Who they are is defined by whose they are. God created and made them, which is why God gets to define them. “Self-idolatry” always results in a distorted identity. Teach your children who they are by teaching them who God is. Join Pastor Phil Hopper as he teaches on the power of motherhood. God Has a Mission for You!

Jesus sends us on a mission to take the gospel to our neighbors and to the nations. God has a mission for you! Ask Him how He wants you to live sent. John 20:21 says, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” GOD’S MISSION FOR YOU IS TO LIVE SENT The Apostle Paul lived sent by keeping these 3 things in mind… He was a bondservant to Christ. Paul described himself as a debtor and a bondslave of the Lord Jesus Christ. A bondslave was not “forced” into servitude but one who willingly chose to serve their master, giving up all “rights” to their life. He was willing and ready. Paul could not contain his passion for the mission of taking the gospel to the nations! In Romans 1:15, he wrote, “So, as much as is in me, I AM READY to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also“ (emphasis added). The words “I am ready” are translated from two Greek words that imply passion and emotion. He was unashamed. In Romans 1:16, Paul wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” He was ready to give his life to take the gospel to others. He said in Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Join Pastor Phil Hopper as he encourages you to live sent and on mission for God, explain what it looks like to… Be a bondservant to Christ Be willing and ready Be unashamed Are you ready to be used by God for a greater purpose? Don’t Forsake God for False Freedom | Receive Living Water

Have you ever forsaken God for false freedom? Oftentimes we exchange following God’s lead for “freedom” and find ourselves running into a wall of hurt. That is because the freedom promised is false. It really wasn’t freedom at all, but a trap of destruction. Jeremiah 2:13 says… “’For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.’” Jeremiah is speaking on God’s behalf, telling the people that forsaking Him for false freedom is… Dangerous Causes ruin or injury Leaving Him behind HAVE YOU LEFT GOD BEHIND? We have a tendency to slowly drift away from God, forsaking time with Him thinking it will give us freedom elsewhere. Sadly, this only leads to destruction. Don’t trade a fountain of living water meant to satisfy you continually for a broken cistern that only brings temporary refreshment. A Fountain of Living Water | Living as a Spiritual Pioneer

Jesus came to give a dying world a fountain of “living water.” John 7:37-38 says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive…” JOURNEY THROUGH THE WILDERNESS In Exodus 17, Israel set out on their journey through the wilderness, but there was no water to drink. They complained. They doubted God would provide, and they cast blame, saying, “Why is it you (Moses) have brought us out of Egypt, to kill us…” (Exodus 17:4). God told Moses to strike a rock and promised a fountain of “living water” would come out. And that it did, even when the people doubted. BE A SPIRITUAL PIONEER The reality was that God’s people were not slaves and prisoners as they had been in Egypt. Instead, they were spiritual pioneers because He was leading them through the wilderness to the Promised Land! The problem was they didn’t see themselves as spiritual pioneers like God did. They were at a crossroads. Would they believe God’s promises and choose life? Or would they have disbelief and be disobedient, choosing death and costing an entire generation their God-given destination? God’s plan was still fulfilled, but many missed out on the opportunity to reach their God-given destiny because they didn’t see themselves as spiritual pioneers. Easter 2023 | Receive Living Water and Eternal Life

In John chapter 4, Jesus met a woman at a well and used “living water” as a picture of eternal life! Water is essential to life. The Apostle John later wrote about a city where “a pure river of water of life” flowed… “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”—Revelation 22:1 THE SAMARITAN WOMAN RECEIVED LIVING WATER AND ETERNAL LIFE Jesus came to Samaria and met “the woman at the well.” This woman was not well received by others in the town. But Jesus had an uncommon compassion for the woman. Why? Because He was sent by God for the redemption of ALL men and ALL women. The Samaritan woman was shocked that Jesus, a Jew, would speak to her… She was a Samaritan, an enemy of the Jews, and a woman. But Jesus’ compassion made a way for Him to share the hope of living water. The Samaritan received living water and eternal life that day! Do You Seek First the Kingdom of God? What Does a Kingdom Mentality Look Like?

Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Having a kingdom mentality means living generously because it focuses your life spiritually. PRACTICE GENEROSITY. HAVE A KINGDOM MENALITY. Practicing generosity in Jesus’ name publicly declares the King you serve. It states that you belong to a different Kingdom. The kingdoms of this world are built on greed, idolatry, selfishness, and self-centeredness. Our King invites us to give in a world that takes. In a world of greed, Jesus invites us to give.
