Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comJoe Walsh is a former Illinois congressman elected to Congress in the Tea Party wave of 2010.  Following his service in Congress, Walsh became one of the most popular conservative talk radio hosts in the country, syndicated in major markets throughout the United States.  In August of 2019, Joe announced his candidacy for president of the United States, waging a Republican primary challenge against Donald Trump. So, how does a person go from a one-time supporter of Trump, tweeting in the fall of 2016, "On November 8th, I'm voting for Trump. On November 9th, if Trump loses, I'm grabbing my musket. You in?” to writing a book called: β€œF*ck Silence: Calling Trump Out for the Cultish, Moronic, Authoritarian Con Man He Is”?Will Wright (Political Host) talks with Joe Walsh on this week’s Faithful Politics Podcast about his career as a social worker, politician, and political homelessness. This episode shows you a side of Joe Walsh that you probably have never seen, or heard, before, as he reflects on past regrets, redemption, and the future of the GOP.About Joe WalshWilliam Joseph Walsh (born December 27, 1961) is an American politician, conservative talk radio host, former social worker, and former 2020 Republican presidential candidate who served one term in the United States House of Representatives representing Illinois's 8th congressional district.Born and raised in the Chicago metropolitan area, Walsh began his career as a social worker providing education and job skills training to students in low-income areas, gradually becoming more politically active. In the 1990s, he identified as a moderate Republican, but he later became a conservative and a Tea Party activist.During his time in Congress, Walsh was criticized for his often personal attacks against members of the Democratic Party and, specifically, President Barack Obama. He accused the president of abandoning the U.S.–Israel alliance and bankrupting the country. Walsh maintained a no-compromise approach to legislating that included rejecting any tax increases. He consistently voted against raising the federal debt cei Support the show🎧 Want to learn more about Faithful Politics, get in touch with the hosts, or suggest a future guest?πŸ‘‰ Visit our website: faithfulpoliticspodcast.com πŸ“š Check out our Bookstore – Featuring titles from our amazing guests:faithfulpoliticspodcast.com/bookstore ❀️ Support the show – Help us keep the conversation going:donorbox.org/faithful-politics-podcast πŸ“© Reach out to us: Faithful Host, Josh Burtram: Josh@faithfulpolitics.com Political Host, Will Wright: Will@faithfulpolitics.com πŸ“± Follow & connect with us: Twitter/X: @FaithfulPolitik Instagram: faithful_politics Facebook: FaithfulPoliticsPodcast LinkedIn: faithfulpolitics πŸ“° Subscribe to our Substack for behind-the-scenes content:faithfulpolitics.substack.com πŸ“… RSVP for upcoming live events:Chec...

Rural Rebellion - Interview with Author Ross Benes

Have a comment? Send us a text! (We read all of them but can't reply). Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comWhat do drag queens, God, a Democrat Trifecta in Nebraska, and Dinesh D'Souza all have in common? We talk this week with author, journalist, and research analyst Ross Benes to find out in his new book, "Rural Rebellion: How Nebraska Became a Republican Stronghold". I'd imagine when you think about Nebraska you aren't associating it with a Democratically held stronghold, and you could be forgiven for thinking that. As a matter of fact, Nebraska had a Democratically ran state legislature, Governorship, and Senate for nearly a decade up until 1998. So what changed? We explore this and other topics in our wide-ranging conversation with Ross. If you're interested in buying the book, and I highly recommend you do, please visit:https://www.amazon.com/dp/0700630457/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_PKVJWSQPF71MJVT0G5VVAbout Ross BenesRoss Benes is the author of Sex Weird-o-Pedia and The Sex Effect, which won a Nebraska Book Award in nonfiction and was described as "Freakonomics without pants." Benes has written for many media outlets including The American Prospect, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, The Nation, New York magazine, Rolling Stone, Refinery29, Slate, Vice, and The Wall Street Journal. He's currently working on a book about how the cultural changes he experienced growing up in small-town Nebraska became reflected across American politics. Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comMarch for Life Series: This is a four-part series that looks at the value of life through the various societal lenses of faith and politics. It's no secret that the United States is considered a global superpower. Part of the reason we have this designation probably has to do with our fascination, some say obsession, with the military–industrial complex. But are there situations where war is inevitable? How about assassinations? America spends roughly $700 billion on defense, yet also spends only a fraction of that on diplomacy. On this last installment of our March for Life series, we speak with recently Retired Green Beret Master Sergeant, and CEO of Quiet Pro Tactical, Juan Mata. MSG Mata gives us some unique insight into the decision making process involved in declaring war and how to take a life. We then discuss how politics plays a huge role in where our troops go and how voters can help if they want to see us involved in less conflict around the world.
