For this episode we're reliving one of our favourite all-time episodes - our interview with Alan Kohler. Released in September 2017 (episode 18 of Equity Mates) we spoke to the ABC Journalist and former editor of the Australian Financial Review about his life, career and thoughts on the market. A long history of financial journalism has culminated in Alan doing the financial section of the 7 o'clock ABC news, and being known for his weekend overviews. In my house growing up, the 7 o'clock news was always watched, and Alan was known as the 'graph man' as he has become known for the interesting and insightful charts he shows viewers. Prior to being the face of finance on the ABC, Alan has had a long and storied career in financial journalism, including a stint as editor of the Australian Financial Review from 1985 to 1988. We were lucky enough to sit down with Alan and discuss all things investing. There were two big celebrations of investing over the weekend. In the Southern Hemisphere - the Equity Mates 100 Episode Party. In the Northern Hemisphere - Berkshire Hathaway's 2019 Annual Meeting. The Berkshire Annual Meeting (also known as Woodstock for Capitalists) is a celebration of all things Warren Buffett, the 88 year old stock market genius, and his offsider, 95 year old Charlie Munger. Last week we announced the winner of Next Top Trader, and as promised, we sat down to discuss the winning moves with Alan. Superannuation - something everyone has and very few people pay attention to.
