Samuel E. Cress, D.D.S., director of The Center for Craniofacial & Dental Sleep Medicine located in Sugar Land, Texas, received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Dental Branch. Dr. Cress also completed his residency in Dental Sleep Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston and his residency in TMD through the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. In addition to his practice specializing in dental sleep medicine, TMD, cosmetic and Full Mouth Rehabilitation, Dr. Cress is a clinical instructor in the prestigious Dr. Dick Barns Group where he teaches other dentists the benefits of Airway Conscious Dentistry as well as diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from TMD. He has successfully treated OSA and TMD patients since 2009 and he is a featured speaker at industry conferences and educational seminars. Dr. Cress pursues ongoing advanced education in the field of Dental Sleep Medicine, TMD, Cosmetic and Full Mouth Reconstructive Dentistry and currently holds a duel patent on an oral appliance for the treatment of OSA and TMD, currently undergoing FDA clearance. Dr. Cress has several published articles in the field of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Cress recently presented at the TMJ Bioengineering Conference in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Cress is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American and Texas Dental Associations, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Greater Houston Dental Society. Dr. Cress has been in private practice in Sugar Land, Texas for 20 years and has been a family member of the prestigious Arrowhead Dental Lab since 1995. Dr. Cress and his wife, Kimberly Cress. M.D., director of the TMS Serenity Center for Depression, share their life with their son, Carter currently attending Hew Hampton School in New Hampshire.

Dr. Zachary Allmand graduated from Indiana University Dental School in 2005. Post-graduation, he served our country in the United States Air Force for 5 years, deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After fulfilling his service to our country, he purchased a dental practice, where he quickly learned that there was much more to running a successful practice than merely being a good clinician. His business focus turned to overhead reduction in an attempt to control costs without sacrificing clinical excellence. Dr. Allmand quickly learned that there were many aspects of the business where doctors were being taken advantage of, one of the most evident being Credit Card Processing. As he researched the true cost of merchant services, he realized that it could be done better with more transparency, security, and fair treatment for all offices no matter their volume.  Dr. Allmand formed Apex Payment Solutions as a means to educate and assist his colleagues, helping them to control their costs and giving them the reassurance that they were getting a fair pricing while bringing secure technology that reduces the risk of credit card processing for health care offices. His goal is to remove these stresses so health care professionals can return their focus to what is truly important; caring for their patients.

Dave was born in Canada and raised in Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of Mcgill University and MBA from the University of Arizona. Scientific Metals was started by his father Mark Weinberg. Scientific Metals started as a small regional company focusing on dentists and now has grown into a highly respected refining company for the jewelry and dental industries.

Dr. David Ahearn’s goal early on was simply to figure out a way to get more great dentistry done – without beating up his body or getting stressed out while doing it.  To solve this, he studied the world’s most productive manufacturers. Applying those findings to dentistry, he was able to create new systems to improve every aspect of dental productivity.  It wasn’t long before many of his colleagues began asking for help to solve their own design and productivity problems. Carlos leverages his experience as a professional comedian to create an engaging, educational, and entertaining CE experience - his events are both informative and hilarious! Carlos Rodríguez grew up in New Jersey and currently lives in Atlanta, GA. He has been married for over 25 years and he and his wife have 2 wonderful children. He served honorably in the US Navy as a Dental Tech for 3 years and transitioned to civilian life in 1990. He has been a dental hygienist for 23 years and has a passion for making his patients smile! Dr. Brandon Ryff grew up in Tempe Arizona, and attended the University of Arizona, where he graduated with dual degrees in Physiology from the College of Medicine, and Molecular & Cellular Biology from the College of Science. Upon graduation, Dr. Ryff then attended the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry. After Dental School, Dr. Ryff became an associate in a small group of privately owned dental practices in Arizona. Subsequently, this group was approached and acquired by a national DSO backed by private equity investors. This transition was a complex process that Dr. Ryff found very interesting. Watching his father-in-law successfully serve as the President & CEO of a multibillion-dollar international corporation only further fueled Dr. Ryff’s interest in business and executive leadership. Accordingly, Dr. Ryff then completed a 2-year business program, earning a Professional Graduate Certificate in Strategic Management from Harvard University Extension School.  Alongside completing his business program and practicing dentistry, Dr. Ryff was also appointed Vice President of Business Development within the private equity DSO group that had acquired the practice. Dr. Ryff was involved in multiple acquisitions made by the DSO from 2013-2015, during which time the company ranked #14 for the Inc 500’s fastest growing companies in America.  A drastic shift in executive leadership and corporate strategy at the DSO prompted a strategic transition for Dr. Ryff himself. In August 2016, Dr. Ryff left the corporate practice environment and acquired a private practice in Paradise Valley Arizona. During the first year, Dr. Ryff applied knowledge he had gained from his tenure in business development and business school to create a unique team environment. After hearing through social media of a themed ‘team-unity lunch’, held in good fun to help mend wounds of the 2016 post-election divide, the Washington Post featured an article about the unique atmosphere and team at Dr. Ryff’s practice.  Among many factors, the leadership and management lessons Dr. Ryff acquired through his work and educational experiences contributed to a 33% growth in his new practice during the first year. Behind the scenes, Dr. Ryff negotiated improved terms with suppliers, vendors and labs with whom he had previously established positive relationships. On the front line, Dr. Ryff focused on leadership and worked to build a culture of positivity and appreciation. With the simple mission of providing clinical excellence and uncompromising service, Dr. Ryff rallied an exceptional team of focused, motivated, and accomplished professionals to take the practice to the next level. To reward their hard work and dedication, Dr. Ryff also implemented a unique bonus program, which resulted in pay increases of 24%, on average, for each employee. The combined result of applied strategic management principles, his consistent focus on positive leadership, and implementing a generous employee bonus program was a 75% increase in profit dollars for his first year as owner, 2017.  The journey for Dr. Ryff and his team was not without some turbulence however. Months after becoming the new owner, Dr. Ryff learned that his landlord had suddenly passed away, leaving the entire property to charity.  A big commercial real estate developer made intentions made clear that the plan was to demolish and redevelop the property. Accordingly, Dr. Ryff found a new location to continue the 60-year legacy of the practice. With the unwavering support of his loyal team and their active participation in all levels of the process, Dr. Ryff and team built a brand new state-of-the-art facility, which will serve to take the practice well into the next generation.
