Marc Novak graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2018 and is now a practicing dentist between two practices in Northern New Jersey. He was born and raised in East Windsor, CT. With his mother and father both being successful teachers, he entered the University of Connecticut in the education program before transitioning his studies to biochemical research. After completing a research and development summer internship at a pharmaceutical company the summer before his senior year, he knew that a life stuck in a laboratory was not for him, and he chose to again transition to dentistry after observing his local dentist Dr. Pete Coombs of Suffield, CT. While applying to schools his undergraduate research advisor convinced him to continue his work and stay for a Master’s degree. His research project focused on increasing the chemical stability of proteins that could be used for functional purposes. He published several peer reviewed journal articles pertaining to the increased functional stability of Glucose Oxidase, acting as the building blocks to a biocompatible glucose sensor that has the potential to send electrical Bluetooth signals through an app to register live blood-glucose readings and limit the pain and annoyance of patient’s using drops of blood from their fingers. Upon completion of Dental school, he was selected to attend the highly competitive GPR program at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ, ranked the #1 hospital in New Jersey and a top 30 hospital in the United States. He received advanced training of complex dental cases, including oral surgery, endodontics, dental implants and esthetic cases. He received a formal education on management of medically compromised patients as well as patients with special health care needs. Becoming a more well-rounded and confident practitioner afforded him to opportunity to enter private practice as an associate under the tutelage of Dr. David Paulussen of Hackettstown, NJ and Dr. Michael Gruber of Parsippany, NJ both of whom are annually recognized as two of New Jersey’s top dentists. When not splitting his time between the two offices, Dr. Novak is passionate about continuing education to become the best practitioner possible as well as staying physically active and traveling. Attorney Matthew W. Odgers is the owner and founder of Odgers Law Group, a dental specific law firm based in San Diego, California. Dr. Karim ElMofty is a practicing dentist in Egypt where he was born and raised and graduated from Dental school, Cairo University in 2009. He is interested in Egyptian history, etymology, farming and open sea fishing. He believes that the scientific fields behind oral health promotion has matured, giving rise to a range of services to complement dental treatment everywhere. He moved to Canada with his wonderful wife and baby daughter and they currently live in Burlington, Ontario. So, his interests now in summer became touring parks, splash pads and Canada’s beautiful nature and in winter touring indoor play areas. His clinical training focused on Pediatric Dentistry while his master’s degree research work in Dental Public Health was testing different oral health education methods. He had brief trainings in China and California and was part of the team who broke the Guinness WR for the largest oral health promotion session in 2015. He started KnowDental in Egypt and travelled around Egypt’s deserts, countryside and metropoles reaching as many people as he can with his team of KnowDental Ambassadors. He recently started KnowDental in Canada and is restructuring it to better serve his new community while working to obtain his license to Practice Dentistry. His focus now is to make KnowDental available for every dentist to add an edge to their patient care and introduce KnowDental methods to the scientific community through research.

A native Lexingtonian, Dr. William E. Lee graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1973, Vanderbilt University in 1977, and the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1981. He started a private dental practice with his wife, Dr. Janet Faraci Lee in 1984 and then merged practices with Dr. John Thompson in 1990. Very active in organized dentistry, Dr. Lee is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and the Blue Grass Dental Society. He is honored to be a fellow in the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Having served many roles in organized dentistry, Dr. Lee is currently the President of the Kentucky Dental Association and a delegate of the American Dental Association. He has also served on many boards for organizations in the Lexington area mostly associated with his children’s activities. An avid learner, Dr. Lee attends numerous continuing education courses throughout the year.

Hernan Varas is a Clinical and Practice Development Executive for Arrowhead Dental Laboratory and the Dr. Dick Barnes Group.  He has been in the dental industry for over 30 years. Originally from Chile, Hernan moved to Utah to attend Westminster College in Salt Lake City for a bachelor’s degree. After completing his degree in marketing and communications, Hernan continued his studies at Westminster and received a Master’s in Business Administration, with an emphasis in international management. Since working at Arrowhead, Hernan has visited and worked with hundreds of dental practices alongside Dr. Dick Barnes—including every state in the contiguous United States. Hernan specializes in strategies and techniques for increasing efficiencies and productivity in dental practices so they can become strong businesses.

From 1990 to 2003, Dr. VanArsdall practiced dentistry with her father in Carlisle Kentucky. In 2003, she became a full time faculty member at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine teaching anatomy to medical, dental and nursing students. In 2009, she became full time faculty in the College of Dentistry eventually becoming a Professor and Academic Dean. In 2016, she stepped away from academics. She moved in with her mom and dad and took care of her father while he was dying of cancer. This was a pivotal point in her life. After he died, she was determined to find ways to avoid cancer. Pam has a Masters in Public Health and she already knew to avoid tobacco and to not drink excessively but she wanted to see if scientific evidence could offer anything more. She used the research skills she learned as a professor and dug into the research on ways to prevent cancer from lifestyle, and she found an avalanche of information on foods that fight cancer. It is now her passion to share this information with others. This has led her to become a certified health coach through the Wellcoaches School of Coaching, to become certified in Professional Plant Based Culinary Arts and to begin speaking at events and conferences on what she has learned about "Foods that Fight Cancer."
