Dr. Mier completed undergraduate studies at Albion College, then received his dental degree from University of Detroit in 1984. His journey to orofacial pain primarily began as a patient looking for answers, and eventually led to the craniofacial pain center at Tufts University. He completed a one-year fellowship, and then completed a Masters program in 2011. Subsequently he joined the faculty and was eventually the director of postgraduate education in orofacial pain. He returned to full-time private practice in 2015 to the present. He has been active in the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP) leadership and is currently the president-elect of the organization. Dr. Farrell was born in Toronto, Canada. He completed undergraduate studies at Arizona State University and attended Columbia University School of Dental Surgery. He later attended UCLA’s Orofacial Pain program and successfully received his Board Certification in Orofacial Pain. Since then has practiced Orofacial Pain in Scottsdale, Arizona. His practice evolved into the Head Pain Institute, a center for clinical excellence founded on evidence-based practices, research and development, and a center for learning to help keep general dentists and specialists on the cutting edge. Paul Lowry is the CEO and co-founder of the Dental Menu. From 2008-2017 Paul helped dental offices generate thousands of new patients. After analyzing the data from those new patients, he found that people without dental insurance were more difficult to attract and retain. Many of the offices he worked with had membership plans, but they failed to provide an adequate solution. In 2017 he co-founded the Dental Menu. Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Marketing from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Utah State University. When Paul isn’t immersed in work, he enjoys teaching, spending time with his wife and 6 children, dirt biking, fishing, and being outdoors. Wes Read is has been working exclusively with dentists for 15 years as a dental CPA and financial advisor. He also has the Certified Financial Planner designation. After graduating from BYU in 2005 with a Masters in Accounting, he worked for Ernst and Young, a big four accounting firm. Eventually he left there and began working with dentists on a one-on-one basis. He formed PracticeCFO in 2013 and his firm currently works with 300 dentists in 16 different states. His team of 22 people include financial advisors, tax CPAs, accountants, and investment specialists. Together, they oversee global financial systems for their dentists. Dr. Parth Patel grew up in Atlanta and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Midwestern University, College of Dental Medicine in Illinois after receiving his undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia. He then further continued his journey by pursuing Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency from Wichita State University in Kansas where he learned and developed a passion for dental implants. Dr. Patel is dedicated to providing the best dental care and staying current with the newest dental advancements, having completed over 1000 hours of continuing education courses. Laura is a registered dental hygienist with fourteen years of experience in a periodontal practice providing non-surgical periodontal therapy and periodontal maintenance. Laura believes in using the latest technologies to achieve the most predictable outcomes for her patients, and has used a periodontal endoscope from the start of her career in dentistry. A master trainer for OraVu’s DeVa dental endoscope, Laura also delivers educational presentations on the topic of visual scaling and root planing. Dr. Dania Tamimi graduated with a dental degree from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She trained at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and earned a doctorate of medical science (DMSc) and certificate of fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in 2005. She is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (ABOMR). She is the lead author on two textbooks: “Specialty Imaging: Dental Implants” and “Specialty Imaging: Temporomandibular Joint” and a co-lead author on “Diagnostic Imaging, Oral and Maxillofacial”. She lectures nationally and internationally.She currently runs her home-based oral and maxillofacial radiology private practice in Orlando, Florida and is the mother of three children. Dr. Ben Baranes is a general dentist practicing in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Baranes was born and raised in Paris, France. At the age of 18, he decided to pursue his American Dream and moved to California for his undergraduate studies. A decade later, he still feels like it was the best decision he ever made. Dr. Baranes graduated from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in May 2019. Coming out of dental school, like many new graduates, Dr. Baranes struggled to find a good job and often found himself in difficult situations where his sense of ethics was questioned. William Ben Johnson is an endodontist, inventor, entrepreneur, educator and philanthropist. He developed Thermafil and then established Tulsa Dental Products, beginning with the modernization of endodontic treatment. He has received several awards such as the 2004 President’s Award from the American Association of Endodontists and the 2000 Louis I Grossman Award from the French Endodontic Society. He is member of the Oklahoma Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, and the International College of Dentists, among others. Most recently, Johnson has directed his efforts toward designing instruments for improved cleaning and shaping of the root canal system.
