Joel Karafin is Chief Operating Officer of XDR Radiology. After earning degrees in Mathematics and Semantics from California State University, he joined Logicon RDA, a defense industry think tank, where he worked with Douglas Yoon, DDS, developer of the Logicon Caries Detector. After leading the technology divisions at small businesses in a variety of industries, he joined Dr. Yoon at XDR. There, he has helped hundreds of dentists decide and design their imaging solutions and led the installation of XDR at over 3000 practices. With 40 years of computer science experience, he has coordinated with dozens of dental companies in developing integrated solutions. Kevin Earle has been the executive director of the Arizona Dental Association since 2008. In that role, he serves as the principal lobbyist for dentistry and better oral health care at the State Legislature. He is the former executive director of the Arizona Board of Dental Examiners.  Before his move to Arizona, he spent twenty years regulating professionals in the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.  He was the Executive Director of the New Jersey Board of Dentistry for many years, and  in the past regulated  several other categories of health care professionals, including the Board of Medical Examiners. He holds a BA in Public Affairs from George Washington University, an MBA from Rutgers University and an MPH with a concentration in health policy from Columbia University.   www.AzDA.org

Dr. Karah started her career in Counseling. Within mental health, she was hired into an Executive Director role, where she discovered leadership excited her.    After marrying her dentist husband in 2002, their adventures continued in Europe while Dr. David Maloley served as an Army officer in the dental corps. Karah worked as a civilian contractor for the Army in Germany and with the VA while living in Italy.     When David was done with his military career, in 2007, Dr. Karah joined the founders team and served as Chief Knowledge Officer of EQmentor, a professional development company focusing on mentoring and emotional intelligence. During this entrepreneurial venture, she completed her Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix (in 2009).   In search of a more “European” way of life, Karah and David moved to the Vail and Beaver Creek resort area of Colorado in the fall of 2009 to start a dental practice, Vail Valley Dental Care.    Their family grew by one on May 5, 2010 with the birth of their son, Bennett.   Interfacing with dental patients – and realizing their remarkable response to heartfelt care – inspired Karah to create a workbook,  Where is the Love? The 52-step dental practice customer care makeover system.   In 2012, Karah began working with the Vail Leadership Institute, now called Vail Centre. She hosts a mastermind groups, leads workshops and facilitates retreats.     In the summer of 2013, David and Karah started Relentless Dentist podcast —  I (Dr. Howard Farran) was David’s first guest! On November 2013, Karah (at 39 years old) had a major health incident and suffered a stroke while at David’s dental office. Luckily she was found by David in his admin office and she received 2 stents in her internal carotid artery at the hospital in Denver. She is so proud to be a stroke survivor and able to speak again!    In 2016, Karah decided it was time to match up leadership and dentistry. In 1977, Dr. Kolnick received his dental degree, cum laude, from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa where he was awarded the Gold Medal of the South African Dental Association.  He was the first graduate of the Dental School to be awarded the prestigious University Scholarship for Overseas Postgraduate Study.  In 1982, he graduated from the postdoctoral endodontic program at Columbia University in the City of New York.   For the past 36 years, Dr. Kolnick has been in private practice limited to endodontics in Westchester County, New York. His practice, Advanced Endodontics of Westchester, has four office locations and includes two partners and four associates and is dedicated to fostering excellence in endodontics through education and the incorporation of the latest technology. In 2008, Advanced Endodontics of Westchester became the first laser-assisted endodontic practice in Westchester and in 2009 incorporated Cone Beam CT into all offices. In 2011, Dr. Kolnick created The Endodontic Microsurgery Group, dedicated to performing endodontic microsurgery in a unique, state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for endodontic microsurgery and sedation.   Dr. Kolnick has been committed to endodontic education, first as an Associate Clinical Professor in Endodontics at Columbia University and then as an Attending at Westchester Medical Center and an Associate Clinical Professor in Endodontics at New York Medical College.  Although he no longer holds these positions, he is currently a visiting lecturer in several graduate endodontic programs and continues to lecture extensively on a local, national and international level and has published several articles on endodontics.     www.WestchesterEndo.com

Dr. Whitehouse graduated from the University of Iowa Dental School in 1970. He was an Air Force dentist in Okinawa for two years, practiced in his home town of Peoria, Illinois for one year and moved into a practice in California as an associate in 1973. He opened his own practice by buying out a large practice for the patients, and subsequently, two other practices bringing the patients into his practice. Dr Whitehouse obtained a Masters In Counseling from the University of California to enable him to help fearful/apprehensive patients. He became a co-founder of the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and had one of twelve Experdent learning centers in the US/Canada. He then entered into the high tech portion of his practice around 2000 with Cerec, digital x-ray, four lasers, had an intra-oral camera from 1990.   Dr Whitehouse has authored approximately twenty articles for Dentistry Today, Compendium, and the Profitable Dentist. In 2005 he set up a dental clinic at a Mayan village in Guatemala and recently at a Salvation Army facility in Oakland. He sold his practice January 2015 and now volunteers his services.
