What To Do In a Medical Emergency w/ ER Physician-CEO Benjamin Jack, MD, Duration Health

Today's topic is timely. Plain and simple.   "We prescribe and ship emergency Med Kits, with the same Rx and OTC medications doctors like me carry for personal emergencies," says Dr. Jack. "We prescribe meds now, before you need them."   Our guest and friend on The DocPreneur Leadership Podcast is Benjamin Jack, MD.   He's the Founder of Duration Health and an Emergency Physician.   "As an emergency medicine physician, I have always kept an emergency kit that includes a unique collection of supplies," said Dr. Jack. "Because of my access to specialized equipment and medications, and the training necessary to deploy them in difficult situations, I'm prepared to care for myself and others when regular healthcare is unavailable."   Not every Patient has access to a Physician. We understand that.   The "Medical Kit" Dr. Jack and his team have created fills in a gap left for many Patients.   “Duration Health mixes telemedicine with a survivalist mindset to sell medical go-bags — basic prescription drugs someone might need while traveling or trapped at home.”   —Axios The Medical Kit includes: You have unlimited email access that goes directly to a remote emergency physician; Your customized package of medications will be delivered straight to your home; delivered straight to your home Medication Guide; In addition to our robust online guide, your Med Kit also includes a printed field manual; Physician Online Consultation - Duration Health reviews your emergency preparedness plans in a 30-minute one-on-one with an emergency physician and more.   "This preparation has always given me a certain confidence in facing unforeseen circumstances, whether it be at home, travel abroad, or while enjoying outdoor activities like camping, climbing and hiking."   "I founded Duration Health to bring this same level of comprehensive medical preparedness to my patients, and to provide free and open access to core medical knowledge required in emergencies."   "Duration Health helps you stay safe with medications, knowledge and support to face a range of urgent medical situations, when regular care is unavailable. We're on a mission to legitimize and democratize access to emergency medical care for all those who need it."   RESOURCES MENTIONED   https://durationhealth.com/ https://durationhealth.com/kit https://durationhealth.com/faq   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Preparing for Surgery -- New Online Evidence Based Edu Program to Help Patients Before Surgery

Today we sit down with a trusted Physician and faithful friend, Dr. Susan Wilder. Preparing for Surgery is something Doctor's often provide patients a document and checklist for. But there's more to it than that.   A lot more as Dr. Wilder explains.   "After losing a loved one to preventable surgery complications, the habits embedded through this course have the potential to positively impact health for life," says Dr. Wilder. "Don’t Face Surgery Unprepared!"   Dr. Susan Wilder is Family Physician Certified in Functional Medicine and she's passionate about PREVENTION and helping her Patients, especially if they're about to have surgery.   "Sadly, our medical system achieves the poorest overall health results in the developed world, at the highest cost, because we focus on rescue over prevention. How often do each of us take our health for granted … until it fails? Undergoing surgery when I was a holy mess was disastrous. I suffered significant brain fog and chronic memory issues after surgery because I didn’t realize - even as a physician, my genetics, my diet, medications, sleep habits and lack of healthy stress management significantly impaired my ability to clear drugs like anesthetics and pain medications."   Surgery is a risky undertaking too often taken without much thought or preparation. "In a standard preoperative clearance, we might do a quick physical and run a few tests to clear you to undergo surgery – none of which have proven to reduce your risk of complications or improve your likelihood of recovery. Luckily, you have more control than you think over your state of health, mind, body, spirit, heading into surgery and how smooth and quick your recovery." In 6 simple modules, this program takes patients step-by-step through enlightening & inspiring a personal action plan to cruise smoothly through the finish line, recover quickly, and heal beautifully.   Patients and Physicians are invited to watch this video Dr. Wilder and her team have created for you to learn more about the importance of preparing for surgeries, and the dangers of entering a surgery unprepared.   "I guarantee, treasuring your health need not be difficult, boring, or full of sacrifice. Small steps over time create massive impact. What have you got to lose? You can see results in even a few weeks of concerted effort. So… Can I really help YOU? I truly feel I can."   So if you know someone facing elective surgery, with at least 2 weeks of lead time, please direct them to: https://www.optimizesurgery.com/   Affiliate opportunities available at: https://www.optimizesurgery.com/partners   RESOURCES MENTIONED   https://www.optimizesurgery.com/ https://www.optimizesurgery.com/partners www.lifescapepremier.com www.facebook.com/LifeScapePremier www.instagram.com/lifescapepremieraz/   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Spotlight -- Meet Dr. Ernest Brown, Doctors to You, an on-call, on-site medical house call service.

This is one of our all-time, top five favorite interviews we're so pleased to share FOR DOCTORS.   Not to long ago we caught up with Dr. Ernest Brown, Founder of Doctors to You™. Doctors to You™ is a premier house call service that's proudly treated the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas for over a decade. They're house call doctors with a passion for bringing quality healthcare right to your front door.   Location: Washington D.C. Metro Area   A Passion for Caring As a medical student at Howard University, Dr. Ernest Brown originally sought to become an emergency medicine physician. However, by fate or circumstance, during a third year clerkship, he was mentored by one of the foremost house call doctors in the country. This defining moment led Dr. Brown to realize that healthcare didn't have to happen in a box. Soon, Brown was focusing all of his training on a novel concept: house call services for the elderly, the disabled, and anyone else who needed them.   His reasoning was simple. It didn't make any sense to just sit back and watch as patients and doctors alike struggled through a failing healthcare system, if there was something that could be done about it. He realized that, far too often, patients are treated as little more than commodities-- pawns moved and prodded only to fill big industry's fur-lined pockets.   In 2015, Brown founded Doctors to You™ with one goal: breaking healthcare's barriers and bringing medicine back to its roots. He wanted to empower the patient, and reassure the physician. He wanted to show that healthcare should be for the people, and by the people-- not the 1%. More than anything, he wanted to inspire a movement. He wanted to put care back into the hands of those who really cared, and provide an environment where patients could be serviced without clutching their wallets. He wanted to make medicine what it was always meant to be.   LEARN MORE ... https://www.doctorstoyou.com/our-founder/   Meet Founder and CEO of Doctors To You Dr. Ernest Brown founded Doctors to You, an on-call, on-site medical house call service dedicated to rebuilding the doctor-patient relationship so that patients get the care they deserve. Doctors to You will provide expert, and highly accessible house call doctors to residents of the Washington, D.C. metro, guests of hospitality providers (hotels, restaurants), customers of event management firms and clients of personal services firms (for executives, celebrities and VIPs).   "A native Washingtonian and house call doctor, I greatly enjoy providing traditional house calls to fellow Washingtonians, businesses, travelers, diplomats, celebrities, entertainers, and other VIPS in the Washington Metro area. I have a distinctive and patient-centric vision of how house calls should be practiced and have spent the last 9 years bringing that vision to life. I believe the practice of house calls should be a combination of four key philosophies: * Treating the whole patient, not just the symptoms; * Being on call in order to minimize or eliminate lengthy wait times; * Delivering services on site rather than making the patient travel to receive medical care; and, * Building continuous relationship vs. handling transactions. In a world of telemedicine and minute clinics, I provide comprehensive and effective care directly to patients that is unparalleled to any other service."   RESOURCES MENTIONED TODAY   https://www.doctorstoyou.com/our-founder/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/ernest-brown-md-ms-0a63607/   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Navigating Behaviorial Health Challenges with Dr. Jonathan Green, PhD

Today we wrestle with another complex, overwhelming and challenging subject. Mental Health.   More specifically, how can Physicians, Concierge Medicine Doctors and families access the right treatment and the best resources in a complex and emotionally charged field of healthcare?   My guest and friend today is Dr. Jonathan Green, PhD, Senior Advisor at O’Connor Professional Group (https://oconnorpg.com/our-team/).   O’Connor Professional Group (OPG) is a national behavioral health navigation and consulting practice, headquartered in Boston. OPG works with individuals and families struggling with addiction, eating disorders, autism, and additional mental health conditions.   Their services include consultations, interventions, treatment placements, family and therapeutic coaching, companions and case management, in collaboration with a client’s treatment team. Our services blend therapeutic coaching with accountability and can help clients establish lives in long term recovery.   Dr. Jonathan Green, PhD, is a Senior Advisor at O’Connor Professional Group. A native of Massachusetts, he received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Clark University in Worcester, MA. Jon completed his clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Boston Healthcare System with appointments at Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Here he completed rotations in dual diagnosis (PTSD/substance use disorders) and behavioral medicine while also conducting research in the National Center for PTSD.   Jon has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has received awards from the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and the Military Suicide Research Consortium. Jon is a founding member of the Suicide and Self-Injury Special Interest Group of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and is the current president of the Men’s Mental and Physical Health Special Interest Group. Jon enjoys finding compassionate and creative ways to apply gold-standard, empirically supported treatments for clients with unique needs, valuing the relationship between the client and provider as much as the quality of the intervention.   Resources Mentioned   Tel. 617-910-3940 www.oconnorpg.com 65 SPRAGUE STREET EAST MEZZANINE, SUITE M1 BOSTON, MA 02136 Tel. 617-221-8764 intake@oconnorpg.com 745 5th AVENUE SUITE #500 NEW YORK, NY 10151 Tel. 617-221-8764 intake@oconnorpg.com Web: www.oconnorpg.com   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC.
