Thank you notes to my colleagues? Really?!

It's often been said that gratitude is good for the giver. We think that there's enough room in the healthcare marketplace to let gratitude for one another, especially considering the workload, shortages, long hours, hassles, stress, anxiety and even talk of burnout ... to take a moment in your week and write just one thank you note to a colleague, a nurse or a healthcare worker whom you noticed helped you this week.    Try it ... and if you don't believe that others around you are doing it, just listen to this podcast episode.   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Loyalty.

There’s a lot of ways to do this and we think you may just want to pick one that works for you. But, the first step in the listening process is important and it’s often omitted or removed in medical offices because face-to-face interactions with Patients are presumed to be communicative and relational. But in fact, most Patients and Physicians today would agree that visiting a Doctor’s office (outside of those in Concierge Medicine and a few other models) are anything but environments that Patients would consider relational and communicative.   REFERENCE MENTIONED: Patients' and families' opinions via suggestion boxes for improving hospital care for cancer patients: Analysis of 3419 cases over 11 years   (Citation: Takao K, Nishimura T, Yasui K, Nakagawa A, Yamaguchi K. Patients' and families' opinions via suggestion boxes for improving hospital care for cancer patients: Analysis of 3419 cases over 11 years. Cancer Rep (Hoboken). 2022 Jul;5(7):e1509. doi: 10.1002/cnr2.1509. Epub 2021 Jul 15. PMID: 34264018; PMCID: PMC9327649.)   Most medical offices dismiss the idea of asking for patient feedback or improvement because they assume that visiting the practice in-person today and talking to the Patient about their co-pay or insurance coverage is simply relational enough.   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Spotlight -- Concierge Prenatal Care: Meet Carson Ragan, CNM

OB2me has changed the delivery of prenatal care for women throughout their pregnancy and childbirth.   https://2mehealthcare.com/ https://2mehealthcare.com/ob2me/   About Carson Ragan, CNM   Carson was born in Georgia, spent most of her childhood growing up in Birmingham, Alabama. She started her family at a very young age, and after her second child was born emergently three months premature, she knew she wanted to be a L&D or nursery nurse, so she returned to Georgia to attend Columbus State University for her undergraduate nursing degree. While in nursing school she gave birth to her third child under the care of a certified nurse midwife (CNM). Immediately, she knew that was exactly she wanted to become: a certified nurse midwife.   She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1999 and immediately began working in her favorite area of nursing, Labor & Delivery. Over the years as an L&D nurse, she felt honored to provide care to thousands of families during one of the most intimate and memorable events in their lives. Before starting graduate school to become a CNM, she also pursued an internship and worked a few years as a Neonatal ICU nurse. It was important to her to learn more about what happened to the preemie and sick babies when they left the delivery room and how could she best educate and support her future patients as a CNM. After she gained years of bedside experience as a L&D/NICU nurse, charge nurse, CPR instructor and Nurse educator/Clinician, she finally went back to graduate school to pursue her dream. She graduated from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in 2010 and began working as a Certified Nurse Midwife in our community.   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Healthcare and Hospitality: "Don't cross the streams! It would be bad." ~Egon Spengler, Ghostbusters, Movie

I must have watched the 1984 cult classic movie, Ghostbusters a dozen or so times in my youth with my cousin in Canada on my Gramma's couch. It's definitely a movie that has some unforgettable one liners and come one, who doesn't smile when they remember Ray Stantz and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man?   I love it.   I'm going to get a little geeky here for a minute so bear with me. There's a point. One of the more memorable lines we can all remember toward the end of the movie was "Don't cross the streams." It was phrase spoken by Egon Spengler in the movie once or twice and for the nerds out there it refers to the proton beams from multiple Particle Throwers crossing paths during use.   Egon warns everyone to never "Cross the Streams."   What would happen exactly?   Well Egon said "It would be bad."   In this podcast, we'll highlight some super simple ideas to get you started this week on the road to better customer service in your practice.   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC. Adventures In Patient Care: Waypoints

What You Will Learn In This Podcast: Patients Comeback To Their Doctor Because of How You [and your Staff] Made Them Feel.   Takeaway Points   Old School Marketing Says … “A brand is what it tells consumers it is.” New School Marketing Says … “A brand is what consumers tell each other it is.” In this podcast we'll unpack the importance of waypoints, customer service and how the simple details of hospitality intersect at the hand-off or stop-start points in your practice. We'll also talk about how word of mouth, positive patient feedback and referrals are generated because you allowed the Patient to tell a positive story about your practice, and avoided a negative experience.   What are waypoints used for?   According to Wikipedia, Waypoints may be a simple named point in space or may be associated with existing navigational aids, intersections, or fixes. A waypoint is most often used to indicate a change in direction, speed, or altitude along the desired path.   © Concierge Medicine Today, LLC.
