End to End visibility in Supply Chains - a chat with Vishnu Arcot
Send me a messageI published a post about this podcast on Reddit's Supply Chain subreddit recently and a commenter on my post asked me to do an episode on End-toEnd visibility in Supply Chains. I hadn't done an episode on end to end visibility, so I thought, "Why not?"I asked around for someone who could speak knowledgeably about this topic and Vishnu Arcot came highly recommended. I reached out to him and he graciously agreed to come on the show to talk about it. Vishnu is Chief Strategist, Digital Supply Chain at SAP, as well as having served a stint as a Consultant for BCG for a number of years and he has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. We had a great chat about visibility, and at the end of our conversation, we answered a question sent in by listener and colleague Richard Howells. Now we are in June, I am trialling a new feature on the podcast - listeners stories. Diversity & Inclusion in Supply Chain - a chat with Miguel Castro
Send me a messageIt is June 2020, Pride Month, and with the growing attention that the Black Lives Matter movement is receiving, I thought it would be timely to have an episode of this podcast dedicated to the importance of Diversity and inclusion in supply chain. With that in mind I invited my colleague Miguel Castro to come on the show to discuss the importance of Diversity and Inclusion, both within accompany's supply chain organisation, and also how supply chain can be used to advance Diversity and Inclusion in other organisations. As the Global Lead for SAP's Diversity Ecosystem, I knew Miguel would be ideal to comment on this, and he did not disappoint. We had a fantastic conversation around all aspects of Diversity and Inclusion, even talking about the tangible financial benefits organisations can achieve by adopting a culture and practice of D&I. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode, as much as I enjoyed making it.Now we are in June, I am trialling a new feature on the podcast - listeners stories. Warehouse management software, and pop-up warehouse offer, a chat with Richard Kirker
Send me a messageOn this episode of the Digital Supply Chain podcast, I spoke with Richard Kirker. Richard is the Global Solution Lead for Extended Warehouse Management at SAP. Warehouse management is an area I know very little about (as will become quickly obvious as you listen to the podcast), and SAP is announcing an offer related to pop-up warehouses, something I know even less about (!), so I was keen to get Richard on to the podcast to educate me (and hopefully you too!)Richard patiently explained warehouse management to me, as well as the concept of pop-up warehouses, where the concept originated, and how they are more important than ever now that we are in a period of supply chain disruption. SAP's offer in this space will go live in a couple of days, and as soon as it does, I will link to the offer here, so do check back.Richard was a gracious guest, even laughing at my Indiana Jones reference - listen for yourselves, and let me know what you think. Now we are in June, I am trialling a new feature on the podcast - listeners stories. Women in Supply Chain, the toilet paper supply chain in a pandemic - a chat with Cascades' Isabelle Leclerc
Send me a messageOn this, the fourth edition of the Women in Supply Chain themed series of the Digital Supply Chain podcast, I spoke with Isabelle Leclerc. Isabelle has worked in Supply Chain for over 20 years in a number of senior roles, and currently she is Vice President Supply Chain at Cascades. Cascades is a $5bn packaging and paper products company based near Montreal, Canada and they are manufacturers of tissue products, container board, and specialty paper products. I spoke with Isabelle initially about what the tissue paper industry supply chain looked like, and what challenges they addressed pre-covid. Of course, given the many news cycles that have been devoted to toilet paper, particularly at the start of the lockdowns globally, I had to ask Isabelle how this had impacted Cascades.Isabell also mentioned several times how important sustainability is to Cascades, so I asked her to expand on the reasons behind that, and what followed was a fascinating story about why the company was founded. We had great fun recording the podcast (and due to some technical difficulties, it took a number of calls to record the entire episode, so if you notice some inconsistencies in the audio quality, this is the reason), Isabelle is obviously deeply knowledgeable and she spoke to the importance of business planning, sustainability, and how the coronavirus impacted Cascades supply chain - listen for yourselves, and let me know what you think. If you have a comment of question, feel free to send it to me via email (tom.raftery @ sap.com), via audio (preferably) iMessage/WhatsApp to +34 608 252 871, or send me a message on Twitter/LinkedIn.And if you want to know more about any of SAP's Digital Supply Chain solutions, head on over to www.sap.com/digitalsupplychain and if you liked this show, please don't forget to rate and/or review it.
