Supply chain security - a chat with CakeBoxx Technologies' Michael Stolarczyk

Send me a messageI realised recently that I haven't had any episodes of this podcast (58 so far including this one!) dedicated to talking about security - my bad!So then when I recently came across Michael Stolarczyk, SVP at Cakeboxx Technologies, and author of the book Logical Logistics – A Common Sense Primer for your Supply Chain I asked if he'd be interested in coming on the podcast to talk Cakeboxx' security solutions.Michael agreed to join me on the podcast and we had a fascinating look into the world of supply chain security. I learned loads (including that you can non-destructively open the seal on a 40 foot container with a wet towel amongst other fascinating tidbits!). I really enjoyed putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. Consumer behaviour shifts in the age of coronavirus, and its effects on supply chains - a chat with Richard Howells

Send me a messageI was chatting with Richard Howells (@HowellsRichard on Twitter) recently on the topic of how the current coronavirus pandemic is affecting consumer behaviour, and how this is having huge knock-on implications for supply chains.Richard, who leads thought leadership for supply chain at SAP, said that this would make for a great topic for the podcast, so I said "let's do it!" and lo, here we are.We had a wide ranging conversation covering everything from how manufacturing and distribution are being affected, long term price implications for consumers of some of these changes, and what post covid supply chains will look like.We had fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. Supply chain communities and Reddit - a chat with me!!!

Send me a messageI messed up!I had a scheduling snafu which meant I don't have a guest for today's show, so you are stuck with me (!).Now, I know next to nothing about supply chains, so instead I recorded this episode about how I discovered a great supply chain community over on Reddit. It being Reddit, the demographic over there tends to skew younger, but it is an excellent place to check out supply chain related conversations. If you haven't yet been there, I can highly recommend checking it out. You could well find your next employee there. Or solve that supply chain related problem that has been bugging you for a while now. Enjoy. If you have any comments/suggestions or questions for the podcast - feel free to leave me a voice message over on my SpeakPipe page or just send it to me as a direct message on Twitter/LinkedIn. Prescriptive analytics - what are they, and why would I want some (!) - a chat with Savi's Dr Heather Krieger

Send me a messageIn this the 55th episode of the Digital Supply Chain podcast, and I spoke with Dr Heather Krieger the Principal Data Scientist at Savi Technology. The last episode of the podcast where I chatted with David Vallejo about analytics proved to be very popular, so I thought a follow-up episode on the topic of prescriptive analytics would be of interest. Heather brought me up-to-speed on what prescriptive analytics are, why anyone would want some, and how to go about getting them :)Despite some connectivity issues, we had fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. Analytics in present, and future supply chains - a chat with David Vallejo

Send me a messageI was chatting with David Vallejo (@sapvallejo on Twitter) recently planning our podcast on The Future of Business Planning in Supply Chain which we published earlier this week when I happened to mention that Reddit user Omkarpalkar had asked me to do a podcast around analytics.David said he'd be happy to talk about analytics seeing as analytics are used a lot in business planning, so I said "Great, let's make a(nother) podcast". We talked about all aspects of analytics in the podcast, including where analytics are headed in future supply chains. We had fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. The future of Bussiness Planning in Supply Chain - a chat with David Vallejo

Send me a messageI was chatting with David Vallejo (@sapvallejo on Twitter) recently when the topic of where is Business Planning going came up. David outlined a vision for the future of Business Planning that I hadn't heard before, so I asked him to come on the podcast to share it.He agreed, and we had a fascinating look at Business Planning, where it is today, what needs to change, and where it needs to go to cope with increasing change and disruption. We had great fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. Survive (and thrive?) using Industry 4.0 technologies in your supply chain - a chat with John Robinson

Send me a messageI came across two excellent articles on Industry 4.0 recently in the Future Factory blog (a great blog if you haven't come across it). The first was What is the future for Industry 4.0 in the post Covid-19 paradigm? and the second was The key to manufacturing recovery and Industry 4.0 adoption: The advice of Henry Ford. It turned out both were written by a colleague I had not come across before (there are 100,000 people working for SAP!) called John Robinson, so I reached out to him to ask him to come on the podcast to discuss the articles, and his vision for how Industry 4.0 technologies could help organisations survive and thrive in these disruptive times.John, who heads up Strategic Business Development for Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 for SAP gracefully accepted the invite, and we had a deep dive into Industry 4.0 and strategies companies can adopt to get through the next 12-24 months (and beyond). This podcast is significantly longer than the norm but I was loath to cut it because it was all good stuff!I hope you enjoy listening to it. Startups in Supply Chain , and how-to engage with SAP - a chat with Christian Boos

Send me a messageI have interactions from people associated with startup companies on a reasonably regular basis, and often get asked the same question, "As a startup, how can I engage with SAP?" As the founder or co-founder of a number of startups myself, I can well sympathise with this sentiment - breaking in to large enterprises can be daunting, and the organisations themselves can be labyrinthine. To help answer that I reached out to Christian Boos who is the Global Head of Startup Engagement at SAP, and I invited him on to the show.He gracefully accepted and we had a great chat about startups and SAP - how startups can engage with SAP, what they can get from it, and he gave some excellent examples of startups who have benefitted from it, including one sweet sustainability story. We had great fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. Process mining and supply chain - a chat with Marcell Vollmer

Send me a messageToday is a very special edition of the podcast. This is the 50th episode of the podcast, and I'm publishing it on Friday July 3rd (not Friday July 2nd as I inadvertently said in the podcast!), and so to celebrate, I invited back onto the podcast Marcell Vollmer (Twitter, Instagram). Marcell was my guest on the very first episode of this podcast, and so I thought it would be fitting to have him come back on for episode 50. When Marcell was last on the show he was Chief Digital Officer at SAP, but he since moved on and he is now Chief Innovation Officer at process mining company Celonis.Marcell took me through what process mining is, how it helps organisation gain more visibility into their processes in order to streamline them, the benefits this can have for supply chain organisations, and also the importance of sustainability for organisations. We had great fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. Inventory management in Digital Supply Chains - a chat with Deborah Dull

Send me a messageI was asked recently to feature Inventory Managment in an episode of the podcast, so I reached out to Deborah Dull (website, Twitter, Instagram) because a) she and her co-host Sheri Hinesh are excellent podcasters in their own right, and b) because she told me in a previous episode of this podcast that she loves talking about Inventory Management (hey, who am I to judge? 😉)!And, true to form, Deborah didn't disappoint. We had a fascinating wide-ranging discussion on all aspects of Inventory Management (IM), from the very basic, through to how circular economy theory can be used in IM, all the way to digital inventory, and digital waste. We had great fun putting this podcast together, I hope you enjoy listening to it. I’ve been using Snipd for about a year and this app has been life changing. I listen to about 17 hours of podcasts a week and I want to take notes on 95% of them. Snipd makes it so easy to do. I can triple click my headphones and record a snip. The app also improves rapidly which is welcomed. It’s an easy subscription for me to pay.
