We sit down with Shannon Popkin to digest the story of Abram and Sarai thus far (Gen. 12-18). Far from a fairytale, Genesis tells the story of a family that begins with wrestling and frustration as they cling to the promises of God amidst the reality of infertility. By the time we reach Genesis 15, Abram is frustrated, and the Lord approaches him with comforting words and then initiates a shocking covenant that completely flips upside down all of our preconceived notions about how we relate to God.
