This week, a tug-of-war over the Trump administration’s sweeping tariffs imposed using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977. The Court of International Trade blocked President Trump’s tariffs, arguing the act did not give the President unbounded tariff authority. The White House economic team is confident the administration will defeat this legal challenge, with an appeals court already ruling that these tariffs can remain in effect pending the appeal. Last week, President Trump signed a series of executive orders to dramatically increase and accelerate the construction of nuclear power plants in the United States.
