Stafford Betty, PhD, is a philosopher and professor of religious studies at California State University, Bakersfield. He is author of Vadiraja’s Refutation of Shankara’s Non-Dualism, The Imprisoned Splendor, The Afterlife Unveiled, and Heaven and Hell Unveiled. Richard Reichbart, JD, PhD, is a training and supervising psychoanalyst. For thirty five years, he has maintained a private practice for the treatment of adults, adolescents and children in Northern New Jersey. He suggests that the primary driver of human psychology is neither the will to pleasure nor the will to power, but rather the quest for meaning in life. Stephen Braude, PhD, served as chairman of the philosophy department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has also served as president of the Parapsychological Association. He is author of Crimes of Reason, The Gold Leaf Lady, Immortal Remains, The Limits of Influence, First Person Plural, and ESP and Psychokinesis. He is the recent recipient of the prestigious Myers Memorial Medal awarded by the Society for Psychical Research for outstanding contributions. In this interview, originally recorded in 2015, he discusses large-scale psychokinetic phenomena, typically observed during séances in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These phenomena included table rapping, table levitation, human levitation, apports and materializations. Of particular interest is the case of Daniel Dunglas Home, perhaps the greatest spiritualist medium known in history, who produced such phenomena consistently for a period of twenty-five years. Another well-attested case of human levitation is that of the Catholic saint, Joseph of Cupertino. Braude takes issue with those who believe that the reports of such phenomena are untrustworthy. Joseph Gallenberger, PhD, is a clinical psychologist. He is author of Inner Vegas: Creating Abundance, Miracles, and Health and Liquid Luck: The Good Fortune Handbook. He is a senior trainer with the Monroe Institute near Charlottesville, Virginia. In this interview, originally recorded in 2015, he describes how he began to bring groups of individuals to Las Vegas to experience the possibilities of training psychokinesis in a casino setting. He discovered that individuals could encourage, support, and reinforce each other in ways that an individual alone could not do. He describes in some detail various exercises he used with the groups to help people put aside their doubts and reservations and enter into an expanded state of awareness.
