Advanced SEO Hack That Gets Results in Less Than 30 Minutes | Ep. #1129

In episode #1129, we discuss an advanced SEO hack that gets you results in less than 30 minutes.  Tune in to hear the SEO hacks you should be implementing now. TIME-STAMPED SHOW NOTES: [00:25] Today’s topic: An SEO hack that gets results in under 30 minutes. [00:31] The hack is the Frequently Asked Questions page schema. [00:38] When you do a Google search, you’ll see suggestions of ‘People also search for’ topics.  [00:54] If you create an SEO schema on your website’s Frequently Asked Questions page, you’ll take up more real estate on the Google search results page and you will see an increase in click-throughs. [01:12] When Neil did it, his click-through rate doubled, which is the average increase people see with this trick. [01:25] Rand Fishkin talked about how zero-click searches have surpassed organic clicks, so you have to try to win clicks once users reach the search results page. [01:53] Neil argues that you don’t want to manipulate Google results because that will hurt you in the long run. [02:00] Think long-term and think about what’s best for the user. [02:05] As more sites do this, Google will choose the best content to put on its search results, so it won’t benefit you to simply self-promote. [02:23] Matthew Woodward did this on his site and his click-through rate increased from 3% to 8%. [02:43] He has a video on how to do this along with the code he used. [02:50] Once you add the code, you have to go to Google Search Console and submit to index, and you’ll start seeing changes in the search results within minutes. [3:03] That’s it for today! Is TikTok The Next Big Thing? | Ep. #1128

In episode #1128, we discuss whether TikTok is the next big thing.  Tune in to hear if you should be investing in this social platform. TIME-STAMPED SHOW NOTES: [00:25] Today’s topic is whether TikTok is the next big thing. [00:30] TikTok is a social network that’s very popular in Asia and is climbing in the rankings on App Annie, which does metrics on revenue and other stats. [00:50] TikTok is on its way to making over $100 million and their valuation is in the billions of dollars. [01:00] The app does short videos, and people are creating funny content including music videos. [01:20] Their typical user drops off after 30 days, which is a problem. [01:34] One of the biggest Chinese tech conglomerates owns it and has put over $1 billion into it. [01:49] Platforms that aren’t sticky and aren’t retaining users tend to end up as fads. [01:56] Neil points out that marketers are always wondering if they should adopt the newest social media platform for their business. [02:05] It’s probably only worth the time and effort if a platform has continued to prove its popularity. [02:25] Even if your business isn’t using Instagram yet, it’s not too late because you don’t have to be the first to adopt a social media platform. [02:40] You should wait to leverage a platform until it hits the mainstream and you know it will work for you, and TikTok is not at that level yet. [02:56] Their user count is growing but they don’t have the reach that Facebook has. [03:03] With poor user retention, TikTok’s user count will probably stagnate and then start to drop. [03:30] Neil and Eric don’t think TikTok is the next big thing, but maybe it could be bigger one day. [03:38] A great social media network to leverage right now is WhatsApp. [03:49] That’s it for today! When's the Right Time to Jump into a New Social Network? | Ep. #1124

In episode #1124, we discuss when you should start using a new social network. Tune in to hear when you should leverage a trending new social network. TIME-STAMPED SHOW NOTES: [00:25] Today’s Topic: The Right Time to Jump into a New Social Network [00:34] TikTok is a new social network that has taken off. [00:45] It’s easier if you’re an early adopter, but if you have the money, wait for the new site to establish itself. [01:15] Just because Snapchat is popular, doesn’t mean you can go in there and figure out how to monetize. [02:35] Neil’s rule of thumb is that if a social network has less than $1 billion market cap, he doesn’t pay attention to them. [02:50] Social networks are based off of user growth, not actual value. [03:15] If the network is growing and they are being talked about, look into it. [03:45] TikTok’s current revenue is well into the millions. [03:47] That’s it for today!
