Apolo Ohno - Why You Must Deal with Your Mental Health Before You Achieve Greatness

Why You Must Deal with Your Mental Health Before You "Make it."   There are so many people that believe they will be eternally satisfied once they have "made it."   How many times have you said or heard someone say when I get into a new relationship, I will experience happiness or whenever I hit my salary goal or have financial success I will get out of this rut.   We hear that stuff time and time again and we all know that it can make us happy short term, but then our old habits and patterns come back. If you aren’t happy with the person you see in the mirror, none of that other stuff matters.   So I encourage you to really pay attention to what my guest today has to say and our discussion in why you have to take care of your mental and emotional health and not focus so much on things externally.   Today, I had the opportunity to chat with Apolo Ohno — America's most decorated Winter Olympic Athlete of all time, best selling author and highly sought after keynote speaker (he also won Dancing With the Stars).   In this episode, you will gain a lot of life changing lessons based on his personal experience. We get into many topics such as the importance of managing your mental health, how to navigate transitions, dealing with pain and failure, his best practices and so much more.   Show Notes:    When we hear the word “athlete”, the first thing that comes to our minds is that we expect them to be strong and capable of staying focused and be well-driven, especially those who are at the peak of their career. Little did we know, they’re also struggling with mental health problems.   Apolo will be talking about the Olympians’ struggles and the HBO documentary The Weight of Gold that premiered this past summer that showcases how the pressure of being an olympian can massively impact your mental health. It also encourages people to ask for help and not be afraid to open up if they are struggling mentally.   As a dedicated mental health advocate, he will make us understand that this anyone can have battles with their mental health. It doesn’t matter who you are or how much you have achieved. He will also be sharing some points that can enlighten everyone about where the struggles of an athlete usually come from   Just like all of us, one of the biggest parts of the adversity of being an Olympian athlete is that they are unsure of what’s going to happen once everything they currently have is all gone — may it be material things, money, or fame.    Apolo will give his insights about how important it is to immediately identify your strengths and weaknesses, understand the process, and be willing to embrace change so that you’ll know what to do once you have decided to move on to the next chapter of your life.   Apolo also encourages the listeners to constantly ask this question:   "What do you want from life and what does life want from you?"   We all need to know our purpose and meaning. We just have to take time to reflect, and look within.   Quote:   “What's being thrown at you is out of your control. How you respond, react, and maneuver through this life experience is powerful, and it is within your control.” -Apolo Ohno   Connect with Apolo:   Website: https://apoloohno.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/apoloohno/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ApoloOhno Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ApoloOhnoOfficial   Connect with Doug Instagram: @dougbopst Facebook: Doug Bopst Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Earth Echo Foods/Cacao Bliss:   www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst   Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order Learn more about your ad choices. Michael Bosstick - The Most Surprising Advice on How to Be Successful

We can’t deny the fact that there are a lot of people who are so afraid to be judged by others because of their failures. Many are also afraid to open up and share their own stories and take a chance on themselves because of their lack of credentials or because they are fearful of looking like a fool.   But, what if I told you the very thing you MUST do to be successful is to put yourself out there, fail and not be afraid to look like an idiot.    There are also a fair amount people that read book after book only to find themselves in the same place in their lives. Or they may keep jumping from podcast to podcast and unable to move the needle either personally or professionally. Many are having such a hard time really applying what they have learned from past personal development material because they don’t take the time to really process it, implement It and stay consistent.  If you happen to experience any of those, then this is the right episode for you! Those are some of the many topics that my guest and I are going to talk about.   My guest today knows all about being successful, discovering talent, podcasting, being a parent, overcoming adversity and creating a massive a side hustle. A side hustle that is now one of the top podcasts in the world that he co hosts with his wife Lauryn that now has over 80 million downloads just to give you a hint as to who this might be. Another hint is that That podcast is called the Skinny Confidential Him and Her Podcast.   The story doesn’t stop there after boot strapping, self producing and monetizing their own podcast, it inspired him to co-found Dear Media Podcast network where he is the CEO.    Dear Media is the first and leading podcast network focused on female voices, audiences, and narratives. With close to 40 shows under management and growing Dear Media is changing the podcast/audio landscape and amplifying female voices. Dear Media is also changing the way talent interacts in this medium. Dear Media's business model brings opportunity not only to podcast channels but any channel that touches a talent's brand.    My guest today is Michael Bosstick and will share his tips for people to become confident and be unbothered about other people’s judgements so that they can continue to move forward and achieve their goals. He will also provide some of the most surprising advice on what it takes to be successful and so much more!   Get ready to listen and take note of his advice and also make sure to implement what he has to say into your life. It will all be worth it!   The Skinny Confidential Podcast:   The podcast started as a side hustle. Michael was earning other businesses and Lauryn was running her brand. The podcast was a side thing they did as a hobby. And since then, it's obviously become a decently successful show. In addition to that, it was the catalyst to kick off the Dear Media Podcast Network, and the entire network -- the team, the 50+ shows represent would not be possible and not be represented, if Michael didn't take a chance and jump into the show with Lauryn and have that sh*tty thing that ultimately looked really foolish doing in the beginning, but now has kind of proven itself out.   Michael’s Advice:     For the people who are afraid of judgments:     No matter what you do, you're going to look a little stupid, a little foolish, a little bit silly in the beginning, but ultimately on the other side of that is where you'll find happiness and success.      For anyone who is afraid to open up and share their stories:     People can’t find success long term if they're not authentic. If you don't bear it all and you don't put it out there in an authentic way, there's no longevity, which it really like reinforces and enables you to go out there and just be yourself.     For people who are struggling to implement what they’ve learned from podcasts and books:     Everything starts with actually taking a step of action -- step one.    The mistake people make is that they tend to start thinking from A to Z instead of A to B. If you actually go and do the first thing you could potentially do, and you take step one and do the main thing that you can do right now, it will absolutely lead to the rest. You will figure it out along the way you need to build momentum.    People that actually have success in life are the people that take massive amounts of action.   Current Struggles:   Michael will be sharing about some of the struggles and discomfort he dealt and the importance of just staying in your lane, accepting the things that work for you and not worrying about what other people think.   He will also talk about the biggest challenges they are facing right now and will be sharing his tips on how to get through it every single day.   This is really interesting. Tune in to this episode and your perspective will surely be influenced in a better way!   Words of motivation from Michael:   People that have those judgments and actually care about what you're doing and judge you for failing are the real losers.   The moment you feel triggered is the moment you should stop, pause, and say, “Why?” Connect with Michael: https://www.instagram.com/michaelbosstick https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-bosstick-21584b124/ https://twitter.com/michaelbosstick   Dear Media: https://dearmedia.com/ https://www.facebook.com/dearmediastudio https://instagram.com/dearmediastudio https://www.youtube.com/c/DearMediaStudio https://twitter.com/dearmediastudio https://www.linkedin.com/company/dear-media   The Skinny Confidential Podcast: https://tscpodcast.com/ https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-skinny-confidential-him-her-podcast/id1093028505 https://open.spotify.com/show/2kNTiKHCrrydRj0eFbrAWO?si=7qZ-0zOKQHubLo_F2SJhig   Connect with Doug   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group:   https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Soul CBD Gummies:   Click the link below and enter the code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off Soul CBD Gummies!    www.mysoulcbd.com     Learn more about your ad choices. Rachel Cruze - How to Better Your Financial Situation Right Now

Let’s face it, today there are many people struggling with their finances.   People have lost their jobs, some have been furloughed, some have had their income drop and this pandemic has impacted so many in such a way that has left them feeling fearful, uncertain, anxious and stressed on what’s to come.   So today, I wanted to bring on the show an expert that will help you better your financial situation right now.    My guest today is Rachel Cruze —  an American author who specializes on the subject of personal finance. Her book Smart Money Smart Kids, co-authored with her father, Dave Ramsey, reached number one on The New York Times Best Seller list in 2014. She’s also the host of the Rachel Cruze show.   We are going to talk about budgeting, family and of course finances. And with the difficult situation happening around us, Rachel will share some of her tips and strategies on how people can effectively manage their money and be financially secure until they live a life that is debt-free!   So if you are one of the many who got affected financially during these difficult times, and you are having a hard time with planning and handling the budget for yourself and your family, this is the perfect episode for you! What's it like growing up with Dave Ramsey as a Dad?   Rachel’s Mom and Dad, obviously, were really intentional with teaching them how money works, but it was not something that they obsessed over.   They were never given an allowance. They were always on commission. “You work, you get paid. You don't work, you don't get paid.”   What can Rachel say about people falling into this comparison trap with impulsive spending, and how to prevent it?   Social media has become so normalized, like it's a part of our everyday life.   People are on it constantly and the hard thing is mostly what people see are the best parts of everyone's life -- great vacations, great meals that are being cooked. And that's how we've been for almost a decade of seeing these things over and over. And assuming that's how life should be.   And if people are not meeting that, then the avenue of debt is right there for us to walk right down and get it because we think it's normal.    We have to shake out what is normal, because what's normal is “broke”, we're finding that 78% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.   The Four Walls   Rachel points out that during these tough times, it's most important to take care of the four walls that surround you which includes:   Food Shelter Utilities Transportation   Tune in to this episode and digest what Rachel said about these 4 walls. You will surely gain something that is really helpful and might change your perspective when it comes to handling money!   Rachel will also talk about how she manages to protect her energy and make sure that she’s taking care of herself to be a beacon of light to everybody.    And just like everyone else, Rachel also faced some adversity in her life! You better listen to this as she tells her story and what she learned from it. Words of wisdom from Rachel:   “Money is just a tool to create a life that we love. But it is not life. We're not working just to make money.”   “Control what you can control and don't make decisions based out of fear.” Connect with Rachel:   Website: https://www.rachelcruze.com/   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rachelramseycruze   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rachelcruze   Twitter: https://twitter.com/rachelcruze YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/rachelcruze   Connect with Doug   Website: www.dougbopst.com/   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/   More on Earth Echo Foods/Cacao Bliss:   www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst   Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order Learn more about your ad choices. Rich Roll - Take Small Steps to Change Your Life

Are you are someone who is in pain, stuck in a "rut," struggling with fear or uncertainty?   Congratulations, you are in the right place.  Today's guest says that you MUST use your pain as a motivator to take the small steps to change your life.   Today is a special treat. I have been tracking down this guy to get this interview for quite some time and after hearing who it is you will understand why. Many of you will recognize today's guest from his highly acclaimed podcast. Some of you have may have read his books or just heard of his incredible accomplishments online.   He hosts one of the most popular podcasts out there and his show was the first major podcast to feature my story.  I am so blessed that the tables have turned and I’m now able to pay it forward and have him as a guest on my podcast.   He is also one of the fittest humans alive. Just to give you an idea he completed 5 ironman distance triathlons on 5 different islands of Hawaii in less than a week. He is also a recovery warrior, having over 20 years of sobriety.  Today we get into some parts of his journey that you may not be familiar with.   I am very excited that Rich Roll joins me on the show today. Rich is the host of the highly popular, Rich Roll podcast. His memoir "Finding Ultra: Rejecting Middle Age, Becoming One of the World’s Fittest Men, and Discovering Myself” was a best seller.  His newest  book "Voicing Change" is available for sale tomorrow and will undoubtedly be equally successful.   In addition to being a podcast host and author, he is also a plant based nutrition advocate and ultra endurance athlete.  He is a beacon of light to people worldwide as an inspiring  example of transformation, courage and healthy living. He is the epitome of using Adversity to his Advantage!   “Change is not only possible, it's freely available to you.” -Rich Roll   Get ready to have your mind blown by the incredible wisdom and inspiration he's gained from his personal and professional experiences.   We chat about the following topics and so much more:   Rich’s effective way of dealing with anything he’s struggling with   Why surrendering and letting go of what you can't control is so important to get yourself out of a hole   How staying connected to people that inspire you is helpful for your recovery   How can someone go from being in such a fear-based mindset to living more with faith   Developing such incredible conversational skills despite being shy in younger years is possible   Why is it so important to play the long game when it comes to trying to achieve your goals   How Rich uses his podcast as a healthy outlet and a major act of service   The steps you can take for someone who's struggling   Some of the biggest actions Rich personally takes that gets  his mood up   Rich’s advice for someone who wants to change the way they talk to themselves and create lasting change in their life:   "Change is not only possible, it's freely available." -Rich Roll   He shares that it starts with taking one very small action and building off of that. It's not going to happen overnight.   "If you are in pain, congratulations, that's the best place to start. Use that pain as a motivator, as a lever to actually get you up off the couch. Whether that's literal or figurative and start to manifest in very small nuggets, the life that you would like to lead." -Rich Roll   He talks about beginning with very basic actions. It could just start with simple steps such as writing down the things you are struggling with in your life and jotting down the things you want to give more attention to. Another "first step" example can be putting your shoes on to go for a walk because you have aspirations to run a marathon.    "It's not about quitting your job overnight and making some broad dramatic statement. It really is about these tiny things that you commit yourself to." -Rich Roll   Rich shares that If you are having trouble staying committed or on track, find an accountability partner that you can trust.   "Ask yourself, how committed are you to change and are you willing to take some uncomfortable actions in order to shift your reality?" -Rich Roll   Rich’s Latest Book: Voicing Change   It's an aesthetic compilation of wisdom that showcases many of the life changing conversations between Rich and many of his guests.   The inspiration for this book is really a desire to canonize some of the wisdom and inspiration that Rich received as a result of hosting his podcast.   It's also a way of honoring the many guests that he had on the show, and also honoring the audience.   He wanted to do it in an aesthetically pleasing way. Which is why they decided to go with a coffee table book format.   Get the book here:   richroll.com/vc   Connect with Rich:   Website: richroll.com   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/richroll/    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/richrollfans   Twitter: https://twitter.com/richroll   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/richroll     Rich’s Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-rich-roll-podcast/id582272991   https://open.spotify.com/show/2TGszFKJEbQuEXrWduK63l?si=ojo6Qb6dSWCjvWvnSOAIeg   Connect with Doug   Website: www.dougbopst.com/   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/   More on Earth Echo Foods/Cacao Bliss:   www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst   Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order     Learn more about your ad choices. Whitney Miller - How to Face Your Deepest Insecurities to Improve Your Self Esteem

My guest today is the former Miss United States and sports anchor, Whitney Miller. She has found her true calling helping individuals and couples as a love, sex and relationship coach. Her experiential journey to self-mastery started 5 years ago with her well publicized open relationship with an ex fiance.   Whitney has since joined forces with some of the leading scientists and researchers in the field, and now hosts talks and workshops around the world. She believes that regardless of your relationship construct, monogamous or open, there are always ways to create more love, better sex, and healthier, happier relationships.   If you are someone who struggles dealing with your personal insecurities, and you’re tired of  hearing people tell you what to do with your life, then you should listen to this episode. Whitney and I will be talking about her incredible backstory, having a strong mindset and how to overcome you deepest insecurities to improve your self confidence and become your best self.   Whitney’s Backstory:   Whitney was naturally gifted. She started doing gymnastics and soccer by the time she was four. That's the only thing that she knew and she loved competing. She loves trying new things and doing pretty well at it.   Pageantry was a complete out of the box for Whitney because growing up, she used to be a tomboy playing sports with the boys in the neighborhood and keeping up with her brothers.   She was at the age of 15 when she started competing in a pageant. On that same day, she also had a surfing contest. She showed up to rehearsals, all sunburned, clearly not taking the pageant seriously at all. But she went into it and was just trying to see what it was like. And that’s what her mindset was.   Her parents always told her, “Whitney always does what she wants to do, like we can tell her to do one thing, but she's going to try to figure it out on her own.” Whitney’s strong mindset   She ended up winning the pageant and that's when she started to understand the pageant industry.    When I'm 15 years old, she had a very naturally athletic body, which is great for sports, but not great for pageants, particularly back then.   According to Whitney, 15 or 16 years ago, having abs and arms wasn't really considered sexy or feminine on a woman. And so I was constantly told, “You need to be softer. You need to get rid of some of your muscle. You need to not work out so much.”   Her main secret is that she wouldn't let anyone say what she should do, or how she should be.  She’s going t o just be authentically herself.    Again, she ended up winning Miss Texas, and winning the swimsuit, which is really interesting, because she still had my very athletic body. So she won swimsuit, went to Miss Texas. And when she went to Miss United States, she kept the same mindset.   How Whitney handles her insecurities:   For Whitney, people just need to understand that insecurities are just part of our lives. And insecurities exist to teach us.    Whitney always tries to see how she can transform her insecurity into something that can be one of her greatest teachers, that can actually lead to a life that she really wants to live.   The Momentum   We make a choice and we get a little bit more momentum. We keep going until we start to just feel that way and we're gonna mess up. We're human, we're not always going to be perfect and stay on that course.   By gaining that momentum, we gain confidence, because we start to trust ourselves that we're making the right decisions for ourselves.   Tune in to this episode to know more about Whitney’s journey and life lessons that she will be sharing!   Get Coached By Whitney:   Whitney's TogetherNLove Mentorship Program   Connect with Whitney:   Twitter: https://twitter.com/whitnlove   Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/Miss2Jits   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whitnlove/   Connect with Doug   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group:   https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Soul CBD Gummies:   Click the link below and enter the code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off Soul CBD Gummies!    www.mysoulcbd.com Learn more about your ad choices. David Nurse - The Secrets to Cultivating True Confidence

If you are self-conscious and struggling on how to be more confident with yourself, this is a MUST LISTEN!   My guest today is none other than David Nurse — an NBA life and optimization coach, future bestselling author, and worldwide motivational speaker.    As a former professional basketball player (both international and domestic) and a coach for the Brooklyn Nets, David has personally helped over 150 NBA players with their personal and professional development both on and off the court.   In this episode, we will be talking about his so-called 7 Steps to Unshakable Confidence.   If you are self-conscious and struggling on how to be more confident with yourself, this is a MUST LISTEN! You will learn a lot from David as he gives tips and pieces of advice not only to achieve confidence, but to become optimistic as well!   The Pivotal Moment in David's life:   David grew up in the middle of cornfields of Iowa. He always wanted to play in the NBA. That was his whole dream. His whole mission, everything he did on a daily basis was poured into how he could play in the NBA.   Now, he never dunk a basketball once. He can't even touch the rim of 6'2", because he is not very athletic.   College basketball basically grinded David's way to achieve his dream. He played professionally over in Europe. Fast forward, he gets cut from that team.   Not only are all his hopes and dreams and everything that he put into his life with no backup plan, everything was taken away from him.   He came home and his mom told him something he never heard before that really stuck him. His mom said, "David, when one door closes, four open in an entire beachfront patio overlooking the ocean."   That's when it triggered him. He realized that everything he's been doing to play in the NBA has actually been for him to learn how to help others -- how to coach.   The pivot that everything David put into it was to actually coach. He made that decision to become a coach in the NBA.   Tips from David to become optimistic:   - Know that failure is not just a way that we can learn and grow. It is the only way to learn and grow.  - Failure is a big time blessing because not only are we learning and growing, but it's also able to teach someone to help somebody else along their journey, who goes through the same exact thing that we are struggling with right now in our life. - Know that God's timing always ends up being so much better than our own timing. - Take 1% steps daily.    David's 7 Steps to Unshakable Confidence: - Confidence through Comparison - Confidence through Focusing on Your Strength - Confidence through Redefining Vocabulary - Confidence through Creating Your Own Personal Highlight Reel - Confidence through Pouring Into Others - Confidence through Your Cue Word - Confidence through Preparation — The Relentless Consistency Tune in to this episode to know what those steps mean, so that you will also be able to achieve that unshakable confidence within you!   Connect with David:   Instagram: www.instagram.com/davidnursenba   Amazon: Pivot and Go   Connect with Doug   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group:   https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Earth Echo Foods/Golden Superfood Bliss:   www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst   Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order Learn more about your ad choices. Jenn Kennedy - Breaking Unhealthy Generational Patterns and Turning it into Massive Impact

In this episode, my guest and I are going to talk not only about business and entrepreneurship, but also about breaking unhealthy generational patterns and creating massive success. This will make people realize that just because you are born into unhealthy or traumatic family dynamics, it doesn't have to be that moving forward. Once you break the pattern and commit to working on yourself, great things can happen. This includes not only making  a lot of money, but changing a lot of lives along the way.    My guest today is none other than The Jenn Kennedy — an impact-driven business mentor and a coach. She is the founder of Impact to Income Academy and she helps people absolutely crush and scale their business.  Jenn’s Back Story:   Jenn was just 5 years old when her parents got divorced. That time, she doesn’t even know what “divorce” means. All she knew was everybody is sad. Her mom was depressed, and her dad wasn’t around.   She realized as the oldest daughter of their family that it was going to very quickly be her job to just make sure that everyone's happy. She took on the role of her family to be the light and just make sure that no one is sad.   If she was mad or frustrated, it was just buried deeper and deeper because her parents were both very stubborn in their alcoholism tendencies and they told her to never ask for help, because they can do anything by themselves and they just act like everything's okay.   That message and mentality really is what caused Jenn’s eating disorder. It's what caused her to try drugs when she was in college. It's what caused her to never think that she was good enough, skinny enough, smart enough, no matter how hard she worked.    It was the reason why she was looking for approval, and looking for her self worth in every single human in her life besides herself.   After she overcame that eating disorder, she realized how many women were struggling with the same things she was struggling with, because she didn't speak about anything. She realized that women were still struggling and were not living in their power, because they were afraid that their physical bodies weren't good enough for that. That's when Jenn started her first business, which was nutrition coaching. And that's the reason why she found the passion in helping women uncover their power and stand in their confidence as a woman in their body. Jenn’s secret to effectively deal with all the circumstances that the world is going through right now: Jenn always takes care of herself first. As a leader, she knows that she has to take care of herself first. And that means her energy, mind, body, soul, and everything.   The first thing that she’s doing is she’s making sure that she is still showing up, most importantly, for herself.   She is educating herself, trying to understand, and learning to lead like an imperfect person. She doesn't know what's right. She doesn't know what's wrong, but she is leading anyway. And so she’s just leading, knowing she’s going to make mistakes, knowing that she has flaws, but she’s showing up anyway, because that's what's near and dear to her heart. In this episode, Jenn will be answering these questions:   How did Jenn manage to leave her teaching career to become a full-time entrepreneur   How well did Jenn handle all the judgements thrown to her by the people around her   How Jenn and her husband made their relationship work better despite all the difficulties they faced while they try to grow individually   What are Jenn’s main goal in building her own business Words of wisdom from Jenn:   “The only person who should be in charge of yourself, is yourself.”     “If I can do it, anyone can do it.”   “Every single human is born with empathy.”   “Comparing yourself to others can be really healthy.”   Tune in to this episode to know the reason behind these quotes from Jenn! The reason was his dad had to literally say, “Look, I'm a member of the Communist Party. I didn't want to be a member, but I had no choice. whatever information you want about communism, I'll gladly share it with you guys.” And so they entered as political refugees. Bedros was 6 years old that time.   When his family was still living in Armenia, they had a very good and comfortable life. But when they went to the United State, they were living in section eight housing, he’s getting picked on and bullied by the neighborhood kids, and his family was eating out of dumpsters that they find in the back of grocery stores where people throw away food. His dad worked at a gas station pumping gas at a pizzeria wiping tables down and delivering newspapers to in the morning.   Now, Bedros is a 46-year-old man and CEO Fit Body Boot Camp, an international franchise and software company supplement company and coaching programs and he has coached Navy Seals and Super Bowl winning NFL athletes and some of the top thought leaders that everyone's probably following have been his clients.   Like that adversity that he dealt with as a kid was literally the foundation of which how he built myself and how he coaches his coaching clients.   According to Bedros, most things can be solved if you have enough adversity tolerance in your life, and that's literally the foundation of his coaching program.   The Start of the Fit Body Boot Camp Bedros became a personal trainer because he was a fat kid. Going through elementary, junior and  senior year of high school, he decided to work out and get in shape because he wanted to go to prom.   He lost 30 pounds senior year of high school I've got more confidence.   The way his body changed, he knew that this is what he wants to do for a living. He wants to be a personal trainer. And so he worked in a big box gym as a personal trainer, but didn't know how to sell himself. He also worked as a fry cook at Disneyland and as a bouncer at a bar.   But one day one of his personal training clients was like, “Dude, you can do this on your own. Like you can have your own gym.” That guy, Jim, started to mentor Bedros, and that was his first exposure to mentors.   Jim saw something in Bedros, and that’s how he ended up starting Fit Body Boot Camp after a series of owning his own gyms, selling them coaching and consulting the personal training industry.   Bedros’ life experiences: When Bedros was 37 years old, he felt like he was having a heart attack. In that moment, all he could think about was who's going to walk Chloe down the aisle, his daughter when she's older, and gets married, who's going to teach his son Andrew to be a modern-day knight, and he made a promise to his wife that he would protect her, and so who's going to be there to protect her when he’s gone?   Listen to this episode to know what really happened to Bedros and how he survived this trying times of his life!   Lessons and words of wisdom from Bedros:         Positive mental attitude is mandatory.         Before we physically die, we tend to mentally die first.         Let's always focus on what we can focus on, and only go down that path. “We have one of two shirts we can put on… But one shirt says, ‘What can you do for me today?’ and the other shirt says, ‘How can I serve you today?’ You put on the shirt that says, ‘How can I serve you today?’ You're going to have more things work out in your favor, because there's this universal law that seems to reward people who show up by way of service versus by way of greed.” -          Bedros Keuilian  Connect with Bedros: https://web.facebook.com/bedroskeuilian https://www.instagram.com/bedroskeuilian/ https://twitter.com/bedroskeuilian https://www.linkedin.com/in/bedroskeuilian/ https://www.youtube.com/user/KeuilianInc   Connect with Doug   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group:   https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Earth Echo Foods/Golden Superfood Bliss:   www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst   Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order Learn more about your ad choices. Larry Indiviglia - The Shocking Insights From Experiencing Massive Trauma

Losing a loved one due to suicide is really tough. You will always ask yourself why you let that happen, and you will always tell yourself that you should have done something to prevent that from happening.   If you have been following me for sometime, you know that mentors have been so meaningful in my own transformation and that has trickled down into being able to help others. Some of them have made big names for themselves and then there are a few “unsung heroes” that aren’t as reputable.   One that many of you know have come to know is my cellmate, another is today’s guest Larry Indiviglia. Larry has been a mentor and coach of mine for nearly a decade and been instrumental in my success and transformation and frankly this podcast wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for him. He and I met through our mutual friend Todd Durkin at his mentorship and have developed a transformative professional and personal relationship since.   Larry is also a retired Naval Officer, he served 26 years in the Navy and has been a fitness professional for 32 years.   You are really going to appreciate hearing about his life experience and how he used negative situations and turned them into something positive and meaningful.   His “Yoda like” wisdom coupled with his grit is remarkable and has been able touch the lives of so many. His unmatched ability to empathize and inspire others comes from his own personal journey of overcoming massive adversity.   He lost his sister to a car accident that he was the one driving the car and lost his brother to suicide. He broke his neck, survived colon cancer, and lost the love of his life dying on a deathbed next to him... But he is still able to give back, write an amazing book, and help people change the world.    He will make everyone realize that it’s okay for someone to not think about others and focus on themselves first. Not only will it save you from all the burden that was thrown at you, but can also be the reason for you to do great things!   Larry’s backstory:Back in 1973, Larry went to Naval Academy at the age of 17. It was great for him because he made lots of friends in different unions. He spent his four years there and worked real hard. It was his graduation week -- a very special time for all the families. He was driving his sister and aunt to the airport, but unfortunately, they didn’t make it. They had a really bad car accident where his sister died.   That was his first day as an ensign in the Navy, and there he was lying in Walter Reed Hospital. Fortunately, he only got some bruises and a little concussion but he survived.   Four days later, Larry was at a funeral and that was a really tough time for him. But he knew that he just needed to sit down there and move forward. His sister’s loss and aunt's loss gave him the inspiration to then get back on track and do something special with his life.   Larry’s Unshaken Faith:   Larry is a Christian and he believes that God has a plan — that Christ has a plan for all of us. After they buried his sister, his dad said, “Larry, go and live your life. God has saved you for a reason. You don't have to prove anything. Just go out there and be you, and live your life. You don't have to do anything especially for Barbara, and Teresa. You don't have to do anything special.” The best thing for him was to get out of that environment. If he had to stay home and wallow around if he got seriously injured, that would have been a lot tougher for him. He didn't have time to process it super intently. He was able to put it behind him and then move forward because he had a job to do.   In four years on that ship, Larry won two medals. He didn't necessarily do it for anybody. He just did what he felt he had to do.   Larry didn't have time to wallow in it. It might sound selfish, but that really helped him and his faith.   From being in the Navy to being into fitness:   Larry always wanted to get into the fitness word. He used to follow bodybuilding when he was in high school. You have got to listen to this episode to know more about Larry’s interesting journey and how he ended up having his own fitness center in Coronado!   Larry Indiviglia and Todd Durkin   Larry truly believes that it's one of the plans sometimes God has for our lives. He brings people into our life for a reason. And he met Todd for a reason.   Their bond is really interesting yet inspiring because through the last 20+ years, Larry and Todd made a massive impact in the world together.   If you are curious about how and when they met, you will know the history in this episode, so tune in! Larry’s pieces of advice for anyone who lost a loved one and going through tough times:   Accept a realization that you can't save someone You will get clarity when adversity strikes. If you have faith, go back to your faith and thank God for the lesson he has given you in that process, and that you're still here and able to continue your journey.   Buy Larry's new book:    126 Days, 11 Minutes: Our Love Story   Connect with Larry: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/larry.indiviglia LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/larry-indiviglia-96341811   Connect with Doug   Instagram: @dougbopst   Facebook: Doug Bopst   Private Facebook Group:   https://www.facebook.com/groups/690686891674188   Website: www.dougbopst.com/gift   More on Earth Echo Foods/Golden Superfood Bliss:   www.earthechofoods.com/dougbopst   Use Promo code "Doug" at checkout to receive 15% off your order Learn more about your ad choices.
