Fight: Trauma Response

It is our brain’s job to protect us against danger. Whether that is a real or perceived threat, the brain will activate and will result in an action, or inaction. This isn’t the most effective way to be protected for people who have experienced trauma, because that trauma is stored so deep in our subconscious, that the threat response can activate in the absence of a real threat but in the presence of a trigger.    There is no way to avoid having your trauma retriggered and your nervous system regulated at all times. These are lived experiences that have sown their way into our nervous systems, but we can implement tools to regulate in the face of a response that may be harmful to others or yourself.   Specifically the fight trauma response. This can be one of the most damaging to our relationships and our bodies. Creating chaos in moments of intimacy with others, or chaos within our bodies, can lead to living an unfulfilling life. There is a way out of this, and that is what we want to talk about on today’s episode.   Jennifer and Elisabeth sit down to speak about fight response and how it manifested in their lives. As well as tools you can use to help yourself move the anger through your body. They worked with their nervous system and learned how to identify when they were in fight mode and how to regulate it in that moment. They now want to share this knowledge with you.    Tune in to hear their stories and how you can start your journey to a regulated nervous system. Topics discussed in this episode:   What happens in your body when in fight response How fight response is automatic without cognitive awareness Benefits of creating a new relationship with fight response Four ways people respond to anger How feelings of unsafety in yourself can make others feel unsafe How trauma responses can be misidentified as a personality trait Reparenting yourself during a trauma response How to move anger through the body What happens to your body when you express emotion The truth about how dysregulation does not stop Interested in becoming a Neurosomatic Intelligence Coach please visit  www.neurosomaticintelligence.com    Head to https://calendly.com/traumarewired/consultation for a consultation to identify trauma responses in your own life and learn how to train your nervous system to move out of behaviors that aren’t serving you!   Work with Jennifer:     https://linktr.ee/traumarewired   Instagram   Facebook FREE 1 Year Supply of Vitamin D + 5 Travel Packs from Athletic Greens when you use   My exclusive offer: www.athleticgreens.com/rewired Work with Elisabeth:   Get in on Elisabeth's exclusive Free Video Training - her proven step-by-step system to ZAP stress, RESOLVE anxiety, STOP pain, DROP unwanted behaviors and MAGNIFY clarity and focus.    It’s easier than you think. Addiction and Trauma

Society paints addiction as an individual character flaw, pointing the blame solely on the person who is experiencing the addiction. However, addiction is much more nuanced than that. Especially since we live in a highly dysregulated world, addiction should be expected. Trying to function in society while needing to dissociate has become a part of our collective culture. Since our nervous systems are on overdrive with the amount of sensory overload that is thrown our way, coupled with unresolved personal and collective trauma, finding ways to regulate the nervous system can become a means for survival. So, in that sentiment, addiction is far more than an individual character flaw, it's a systemic issue, which should be part of the conversation.   In today’s episode, co-host Elisabeth Kristoff gives her personal account of dealing with addiction and mental health issues, and how Applied Neurology helped in her healing journey. Elisabeth goes over how addiction played out in her life as well as what happens to the nervous system and brain at a neurological level when dealing with addiction. Although alcohol helps to depress the nervous system, the trauma that is being dampened in that moment still lives in the body and needs a way out. After many hospital visits, Elisabeth is now in sobriety and able to tell her story to help others who are in the same place as she used to be to heal from their trauma and addiction.   Tune in for a vulnerable conversation about what addiction really means on a personal and neurological level as well as tools that could help in coming out of addiction and into sobriety. Topics discussed in this episode:   What is addiction really The protective nature of addiction Why we get stuck in addictive behaviors Difference between dependence and addiction Elisabeth’s addiction journey The connection between alcohol and food addiction The neurology of addiction Addiction as a spectrum The areas of the brain that are driving addictive behaviors What is the celiac plexus and its role in addiction How we live in a dysregulated society How Applied Neurology and somatics helped How socioeconomic status and race play a role in addiction Addiction as a nervous system blanket   Interested in becoming a Neurosomatic Intelligence Coach please visit  www.neurosomaticintelligence.com    Head to https://calendly.com/traumarewired/consultation for a consultation to identify trauma responses in your own life and learn how to train your nervous system to move out of behaviors that aren’t serving you!   Work with Jennifer:     https://linktr.ee/traumarewired   FREE 1 Year Supply of Vitamin D + 5 Travel Packs from Athletic Greens when you use   My exclusive offer: www.athleticgreens.com/rewired Work with Elisabeth:   Get in on Elisabeth's exclusive Free Video Training - her proven step-by-step system to ZAP stress, RESOLVE anxiety, STOP pain, DROP unwanted behaviors and MAGNIFY clarity and focus.    It’s easier than you think. Flight: The Trauma Response

Flight: A Trauma Response  Season 02, Episode 07 Arriving early, leaving late, overthinking, can’t sit still, breathing quickly, and always keeping busy, are just a few examples of how the flight trauma response can manifest in our lives. This response is biologically built in to keep us safe from harm, but what if that harm is perceived and doesn’t require fleeing the scene? This can be detrimental to our personal and professional lives and keep us in a state of high alert with stress hormones coursing through our bodies that can be quite harmful. In order to combat this trauma response, the nervous system must be regulated, but it is difficult to do that when we can’t pinpoint whether the response is flight or what the trigger is. The first step is to understand the response, and come back to the body to understand the sensations that come with it. This is where applied neurology has proven beneficial to create a safe container for nervous system regulation to allow those of us with this response to come out on the other side with the tools and ability to self regulate. Regulate so we can have that hard conversation without leaving half way through or to be able to finally relax and dig our feet in the sand while soaking up the sun.   In this episode, hosts Jennifer Wallace and Elisabeth Kristoff of Brain Based Wellness share their personal experiences with flight response and how it affected their lives when they didn’t have the tools to regulate.    Tune in for information about tools on how to recognize and regulate the flight trauma response sensations to be able to live a full and expansive life! “Living a life of growth and expansion is as simple as living in your nervous system.” - Jennifer Wallace Topics discussed in this episode:   What is a flight trauma response What you can do to develop an awareness of this response and how to regulate it What role does respiration play Behaviors associated with flight response Jennifer and Elisabeth’s personal experiences with flight  The physiological response that happens during flight response How applied neurology can help regulate the nervous system How breathwork during flight may not be right for you Best tools to get out of flight response How to deal with triggers in relationships Learn more about Neurosomatic Intelligence at www.neurosomaticintelligence.com Head to brain-basedwehttps://brainbased-wellness.lpages.co/discovery-call/ for a free consultation to identify trauma responses in your own life and learn how to train your nervous system to move out of behaviors that aren’t serving you!   Work with Jennifer:    Instagram   Facebook   Website Get 25% Off a Private Coaching Session with me   Sign-up for the Newsletter and stay up to date on my latest workshops, services, and speaking events.    FREE 1 Year Supply of Vitamin D + 5 Travel Packs from Athletic Greens when you use   My exclusive offer: www.athleticgreens.com/rewired Work with Elisabeth:   Get in on Elisabeth's exclusive Free Video Training - her proven step-by-step system to ZAP stress, RESOLVE anxiety, STOP pain, DROP unwanted behaviors and MAGNIFY clarity and focus.    It’s easier than you think. Nervous System Healing Has No Boundaries

Trauma Rewired: The Science of Applied Neurology Season 02, Episode 05 The same tools you use to rehabilitate your knee can also be applied to decreasing anxiety. Our bodies are incredibly intelligent machines wired to keep us alive and thriving, but what if that same wiring that is there to protect us, works against us in ways we aren’t aware of? In the same breath, what if that same knowledge is the key to, not only our healing, but our acceleration as physical and intelligent beings. This is what our guest on today’s episode is here to discuss:   Internationally recognized teacher of Applied Neurology, co-founder of Next Level Neuro, and part creator of Neurosomatic Intelligence Coaching, Matt Bush is joining us on today’s podcast to discuss his techniques used in Applied Neurology to heal the mind and body for optimal performance. Matt’s innovative approach to healing has proven successful in treating issues such as scoliosis, chronic pain, long COVID, and anxiety, by focusing on the nervous system, specifically vision, as treatment. Matt’s methods are based heavily in science, however require little to no equipment. He puts his trust in the body’s intelligence in healing itself through simple exercises that could ultimately be life changing for many.   It’s time to move out of survival mode and create an above average life, because average does not have to be the baseline, excelling above is the goal and that’s what applied neurology teaches us.    Listen in for a fresh take on healing and information on how you could also become a Neurosomatic Intelligence Coach! ACE scores and your health across your lifetime

Did you know you can measure your life expectancy by taking a short quiz about childhood experiences? Depending on the score, your lifespan either increases or decreases by 20 years!  Advances in science have found a link between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), and poor physical and mental health later in life. This distinction has been difficult to prove, but thanks to Dr. Vincent Filetti’s dedication to studying this phenomenon, we can make a correlation between traumatic events from our past and chronic illnesses that manifest in adulthood.  In this episode, Neurosomatic Intelligence Coach, Jennifer Wallace, and Elisabeth Kristoff from Brain Based Wellness, discuss the link between childhood trauma and illness later in life in hopes of shedding light on how trauma stored in the body can cause, sometimes fatal, health issues. In this conversation, Jennifer and Elisabeth recount their own ACE scores and how it has affected their health and lives as a whole, as well as tools based in applied neurology to allow for self-regulation to help heal trauma stored in the body.   These adverse childhood experiences change the physiology of the body and mind which lead to higher risk of obesity, addiction, and other harmful maladaptive behaviors that are bad for overall health, and lower life expectancy.   When we understand the root causes of our health issues, we are more equipped in finding solutions and tools to help heal ourselves once and for all. Tools that are discussed in this episode have been proven to help not only Jennifer and Elisaeth in their healing, but many others who have used applied neurology for their benefit. How Trauma Lives in the Body

Trauma Rewired: How Trauma Lives In The Body Season 02, Episode 02] There is a fundamental key to healing trauma that is often overlooked, but crucial to move from survival mode to a balanced fulfilling life. That is, understanding that our bodies have a highly intellectual memory system that holds on to trauma for years. We focus so much on the mind, but neglect the intricacies of our physiology to heal traumas long term. Your mood, finances, intimacy, productivity, etc, are essentially dictated by your nervous system. A dysregulated nervous system caused by trauma can have detrimental effects on all areas of life, especially if negative coping mechanisms are involved.    In this episode, Jennifer Wallace sits down with the creator of Brain Based Wellness, Elisabeth Kristof, to discuss how applied neurology is the missing piece to understanding what trauma really is and how it affects our physical bodies on a scientific level, and in turn our outer world. Jennifer and Elisabeth recount their own experiences in healing from trauma using applied neurology. Intellectually understanding your trauma is not enough, there is an extra layer that we must pay attention to before we can fully heal. Through consistent, healthy, nervous system regulation practices and exercises, mentioned in today’s episode, healing IS possible. Listen in for more information. Why Heal Your Nervous System

What if I told you that 90% of your issues can be solved just by healing your nervous system? It sounds like a simple solution for the complexity of issues in our lives, but the reality is, most of life is navigated by our nervous system, and for people who have experienced trauma, this can have a range of negative consequences from digestion issues to trouble with intimacy in relationships.   In this episode, Jennifer Wallace sits down with the creator of Brain Based Wellness, Elisabeth Kristof, to discuss how to train the brain to heal the nervous system. By doing simple daily exercises, you can train the brain to elicit new behaviors or coping mechanisms that help regulate the nervous system to lower the stress response in the body. Traumatic experiences, if left untreated, can wreak havoc on the nervous system, causing dysregulation of the nervous system keeping you in a survival state. However, using Elisabeth Kristof’s Brain Based Wellness methods, you can move out of stress and anxiety by doing simple exercises every day that take less than 5 minutes.   Topics discussed in this episode: How our nervous system relates to behaviors How to regulate the nervous system Nervous system deficits How to pinpoint and heal deficits Benefits of healing the nervous system What is Applied Neurology What is Brain Based Wellness Exercises and tools to regulate the nervous system   Get in on Elisabeth's exclusive Free Video Training - her proven step-by-step system to ZAP stress, RESOLVE anxiety, STOP pain, DROP unwanted behaviors and MAGNIFY clarity and focus.    It’s easier than you think.
