LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - http://amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post http://amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - http://amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - http://amzn.to/2u5UnHv

Brutally Honest Advice On Writing Your First Book - Kim O'Hara
Want to see the video version of this podcast? Please visit Youtube here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebQ4qTsmWjA
Kim O'Hara was born in Warren, Rhode Island, and produced her first motion picture at the age of 25. Trailers of her movies can be accessed on https://bit.ly/1jKFKu2. She was the screenwriter on American Reunion. She is very open about the fact that she thought she could make movies about troubled characters to heal audiences, but found frustration in limited distribution of her films. Her personal crisis and recovery from sexual abuse and addictions after the birth of her second child led her to discover book coaching, and she opened her company A Story Inside. She coaches women ready to speak their truth through writing their books. Writing is a challenge for many people, then add in recovery from the shame and denial of sexual abuse. Kim's book makes healing through writing accessible to anyone with her signature writing prompts. No subject is untouched, from spirituality to sexuality, and she is candid about all the maneuvers she did to avoid facing this dark shadow in her life.

Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - http://amzn.to/2u66V1J
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - http://amzn.to/2t1M67Z

Every Great Story Begins With A Core Wound - Screenwriter Peter Russell

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Peter Russell, Screenwriter and Film & Television teacher (LA Story Doc / Peter Russell Script Doctor). Peter was a beloved guest that we interviewed many times. His interviews were lively, charismatic, and spoke to developing fully formed characters that walked the line between good and bad.
Legendary story doctor for Hollywood, Peter taught at UCLA Extension and Pepperdine University. His teachings still live on at Peterrussellscriptdoctor.com. Peter was a friend and mentor to writers worldwide. He included his own story in teachings, sharing fragile part of his wounds that we can all relate to.
Peter started as a story analyst in the 1990s, and read over 3,000+ screenplays for major film and television giants including Imagine Entertainment, Participant Productions, HBO, CBS, Walden Entertainment and others.
As he read these scripts, he started seeing deep, hidden patterns in the best stories. He wrote these down and started getting jobs FIXING writer’s stories.
Peter was invited to teach at UCLA in 2004, and it became a passion, too. He was UCLA’s Teacher of the Year in 2009. He taught Television pilot and Film story creation at Pepperdine University’s Seaver College Screenwriting MFA program, at Story Expo in LA and New York, and many others.
Peter sold two television pilots in 2018/2019.
This video compilation of Peter's take on film and television highlights his love and honor for story.
He will be greatly missed.
His teachings are available online at Peterrussellscriptdoctor.com
