Episode 28: Red Teaming Climate Change
In this episode of The Thinking Leaders Podcast Bryce and Marcus discuss Bryce's visit to London to meet with Marcus.
Bryce flew out on one of the hottest day in UK history which opened his eyes to how poorly prepared the UK is for the inevitable change in climate it will experience in the future.
Marcus highlights the issues between so-called "black swan" & "grey rhino" events. Black swan events are things that we had no chance of seeing coming, therefore there is no time to prepare for them. A grey rhino event is a problem so big it is very hard to miss, such as the looming climate problems the UK and other countries are going to face in the coming years.
Bryce and Marcus talk about the necessary steps to follow when dealing with big problems and explain how Red Team Thinking can help leaders better plan for these disruptive events.
In this episode you will learn:
Why climate change is a challenge every organization needs to prepare for
How to red team major and unexpected events
How Red Team Thinking can help you make more resilient plans.

Episode 27: Red Teaming Breast Cancer
Welcome to another episode of The Thinking Leader podcast, brought to you by Red Team Thinking. Bad leaders react, good leaders plan, and great leaders think. Each week, Bryce and Marcus bring you actionable ideas and insights that you can use to think more strategically and lead more effectively so that you can better navigate your complex world.
In this episode, Bryce and Marcus are joined by Molly MacDonald, founder and CEO of The Pink Fund, which provides 90 days of non-medical financial aid to cover basic cost of living expenses such as housing, transportation, utilities, and health insurance for people undergoing breast cancer treatment in the United States.
Molly knows what it’s like to battle the financial burdens of breast cancer while undergoing treatment to battle the disease. Diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in April 2005, the disease was unlikely to take her life, but took her livelihood. She was between jobs and unable to start her new job as planned. Her family’s already tight budget was immediately overburdened with the addition of a monthly COBRA health insurance premium, coupled with the loss of her income.
Since its founding through January 2022 The Pink Fund has made millions of dollars in bill payments on behalf of breast cancer survivors in active treatment.
Molly talks with Bryce and Marcus about:
Fixing the problems everyone else is ignoring.
How to avoid shutting down great ideas from your team.
Creating a culture where nobody’s afraid to speak up.

Episode 25: Alan Mulally Shares His “Working Together” Management System (Part II)
NOTE: This episode is the second of a two part special featuring legendary CEO Alan Mulally. If you haven’t yet listened to Part l, we strongly recommend that you do. During Part l, Alan goes over two very important slides that outline his Working Together Management System and personal leadership philosophy. You can view them here: https://www.redteamthinking.com/mulally-slides-1. Please take the time to print them out before listening, so that you can follow along. Or better yet, you can watch this episode and see the slides on Red Team TV: https://www.red-team.tv!

Each week, Bryce and Marcus bring you actionable ideas and insights that you can use to think more strategically and lead more effectively so that you can better navigate your complex world.
In this episode, Bryce and Marcus talk with legendary CEO, Alan Mullaly about servant leadership and how Alan used his Working Together Management System to save not one, but two, iconic American companies: Boeing and Ford.
Alan Mullaly began his career as an Aerospace engineer at Boeing, rising to become president and CEO of that company’s commercial airplanes group in 2001. He led Boeing through its near-death experience after 9/11 and returned the company to record profitability in less than five years. A lot of people took notice of that, and one of them was Bill Ford. His company, Ford Motor Co., was on the brink of bankruptcy in 2006. Bill Ford stepped aside and turned the automaker over to Mulally. Alan went on to lead a top-to-bottom global restructuring that transformed Ford into one of the most profitable automakers in the world — and he did it in the midst of The Great Recession, while the rest of the American automobile industry collapsed around him, and he did it without taking a government bailout. It is one of the most amazing comebacks in business history. It was also the subject of Bryce’s first book: American Icon: Alan Mulally and the Fight to Save Ford Motor Company.
