Dick Pics, TikTok & Vaping: The Hectic Lives Of Teenagers

Being a teenager has changed. A lot. There’s TikTok, vaping, dick pics, snap chat maps...and all the things that were once thought as fixed - like gender and identity - are fluid and open to interpretation.  Dr Ginni Mansberg and clinical psychologist Jo Lamble have over 20 years experience as clinicians and parents. They know first hand what concerns parents today about raising adolescents, and they see it daily in their practices. So they’ve written a book about it called The New Teen Age. Because that’s exactly what it is. And they join Mia now to talk about it…   THE END BITS: With thanks to Dr. Ginni Mansberg & Jo Lamble Find their book The New Teen Age here: https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-new-teen-age-ginni-mansberg/book/9781922351258.html  GET IN TOUCH: Feedback? If You’re Struggling Right Now, This Is For You

Hugh van Cuylenberg’s job is to teach resilience. He was a primary school teacher volunteering in Northern India when he had a life-changing realisation. Despite the underprivileged community, the children were from, they were remarkably positive. But back in Australia? Well, people found it hard to be happy and they had so much. Which is how The Resilience Project came to life. He learned that there are three key traits and behaviours that are the keys to resilience. And now he teaches it to others at conferences, in his podcast, The Imperfects, and in his book called The Resilience Project. So if you’re feeling a bit shit right now - or you’ve ever felt a bit shit - this one is for you. THE END BITS: With thanks to Hugh van Cuylenburg. The Episode We Were Nearly Harassed Into Cancelling

This interview nearly didn’t happen, and it’s really important that you know why. A few weeks ago, Mia had her first Covid-19 vaccination and marked the occasion with a selfie she posted on Instagram. She mentioned how excited she was to be vaccinated, the wonderful experience she had at the mass vaccination hub she attended, and how lucky she felt to get her jab. But a day or two later, the abuse began... In the first part of this episode, Mia talks to Jane Hansen, a journalist who has reported on the toxic, dangerous anti-vax movement for more than a decade. And in part two, Mia speaks with Professor Mary Louise McLaws, an epidemiologist with expertise in hospital infection and infectious diseases control, and member of the World Health Organization (WHO), who answers all your questions about the Covid-19 vaccine. THE END BITS: With thanks to Jane Hansen. Big Shots: Anti-Vaxxers Exposed is available to watch on Foxtel. & Professor Mary Louise McLaws  GET IN TOUCH: Feedback? We’re listening!
