David Limbrick’s First Girlfriend Was Murdered By A Serial Killer

Subscribe to Mamamia In the early 1990s, 21-year-old Paul Denyer terrorised the Victorian suburb of Frankston. He preyed on the local women; stalking, abducting, and eventually murdering three young victims. Their names were Elizabeth Stevens, Deborah Fream, and Natalie Russell. David Limbrick was Natalie Russell’s boyfriend at the time. He was just 19 when Natalie was found, and his life was forever changed. David went on to become a member of the Victorian Parliament, representing the suburb of Frankston. So in 2021, when Paul Denyer applied for parole for a 2023 release, David, along with other family members of the victims started a very public campaign. This is his story… THE END BITS: With thanks to David Limbrick Listen to our True Crime Conversations episode about The Frankston Killer here: https://www.mamamia.com.au/podcasts/true-crime-conversations/the-frankson-murders-parole/amp/ Feedback? Elise Loehnen Walked Away From Fame & Money For A Smaller (Better) Life

Listen to part two of Mia's interview with Elise, here.  You’d probably recognise Elise Loehnen’s face because, in her role as Chief Content Officer at Goop, she hosted the Goop Lab TV show on Netflix and the Goop podcast alongside the company's founder, Gwyneth Paltrow. But that fact is probably the least interesting thing about Elise Loehnen. In 2021, Elise walked away from her extremely high-profile job to launch a podcast and write her book. And her book On Our Best Behaviour, has blown our minds. As women, we congratulate ourselves when we resist the donut in the office kitchen. We celebrate our restraint when we hold back from sending an email in anger. We put others' needs ahead of our own and believe this makes us exemplary. But Elise is asking…does it?  This book and this conversation has changed the way Mia see’s the world and the way she sees herself...and we’re excited that it’s going to do the same for you. THE END BITS: With thanks to Elise Loehnen.  Find her book On Our Best Behaviour here Feedback? We’re listening! Why Megan Phelps-Roper Sat Down With J. K. Rowling

If the name Megan Phelps-Roper doesn’t immediately ring a bell for you, her former church and home might - the incredibly controversial and almost universally despised Westboro Baptist Church. Megan was raised in the church and from just 5 years of age, was on the picket line day and night hoping to save those her family believe needed to be saved.  10 years ago, Megan left the church. And she’s since made a living by using her own example of how her belief system could be challenged to show the power of changing people’s minds through conversations in good faith. Which, is what led her to this year, make a podcast called The Witch Trials Of J. K. Rowling.  Megan sat down with Rowling and discussed why she believes the things she does. It’s been met with a fair amount of controversy, but it’s not about choosing a ‘side’ for Megan. It’s about listening, learning, and conversation THE END BITS: With thanks to Megan Phelps-Roper.  You can buy her book Unfollow at any good bookstore, and listen to The Witch Trials of J.K Rowling in your podcast app. Feedback?
