102. Parkinson's Law
In this episode, Brian Gubernick breaks down Parkinson's Law, how we can use it to encourage more efficiency, and how we can leverage the concept in our lives. Parkinson's Law says that work expands to fill the time available for its completion; the longer you allot for a project to complete, the longer it will take. Brian explains why he believes that inverting Parkinson's Law can increase personal productivity. Today's focusing questions: Where have you allotted too much time or not set a deadline and, as a result, you are far less efficient than you would be than if you set a stretch goal if you inverted Parkinson's Law? 101. Unconventional Leadership Qualities
In this episode, Brian Gubernick discusses how to become a better leader and how to identify leaders in your organization. In Sam Walker's book, The Captain Class, through analyzing and studying sports teams, Walker discovered that the individual that you would typically suspect to be the team's captain was not always the captain of the team. Rather, the leadership qualities that the captains displayed were different from what society might believe to be 'captain-like qualities'. Brian walks through a few of the lessons that he learned from this book and shares some stories about influential leaders who led their teams to victories. Today's focusing questions: Are you naming the right leaders in your organization? Are you empowering the right people to step up to become leaders within your organization? If you are a leader, are you displaying these qualities? *ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY* To enter: Leave us a review wherever you listen to the No Days Off podcast. I share some real life examples to help understand how to leverage this lesson in business and life. I also share some things you can start doing to create more discipline in multiple areas of life. 97. Multiplicative System
In this episode, I am sharing my new favorite mental model: multiplicative systems. As we learned in elementary school, anything multiplied by zero, equals zero. No matter how great or complex the number, if it is multiplied by zero, it will equal zero. How does this apply to our lives or businesses? In anything you are doing in life, no matter how hard you are working, how many people are supporting you, or how much you have succeeded in the past, if you include any 'zero' variable in that mix, the outcome will be... zero. Today's focusing questions: As you breakdown your business, can you identify any zeros? What can you do starting today, to move that item from zero to anything above zero? HOW TO ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY As we are approaching our 100th episode, we are excited to announce our very first giveaway. The lucky winner will receive a pair of Beats bluetooth headphones. 96. Preparing to Learn
In this episode, I reference a book I read some time ago that has continued to have an effect on my life - Limitless by Jim Kwik. In this book, Kwik shares strategies around how to learn faster and unlock an excpetional life. One of Kwik's concepts that I resonated with was the topic of 'preparing our mind to learn'. I am sharing what this concept entails and how I have been using it in my life. Today's challenge: How can you take the three questions shared in this episode and apply them to what you are learning? How can you use these questions to develop better action steps around or better implementation of the knowledge you gained? Here is the book referenced in this episode: Limitless by Jim Kwik HOW TO ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY As we are approaching our 100th episode, we are excited to announce our very first giveaway. 95. Criticism from Others
I believe that you should not take criticism from somone who you would not seek advice from. In this episode, we dig into receiving criticism from others, more so how and when you should accept cristicism from others. I take us through some real life examples of individuals and leaders who have received criticism from other people, how they persevered in the face of doubt, and how they, ultimately, proved those people wrong. Today's focusing question: Where are you fearful of experiencing criticism? Here is the book referenced in this episode: Limitless by Jim Kwik HOW TO ENTER OUR GIVEAWAY As we are approaching our 100th episode, we are excited to announce our very first giveaway. 94. Choose Your Hard
In today's episode, I dig into the concept of 'choosing your hard'. In any area of life, whether you take the right steps to get to your goal or you disregard those steps and venture far off of that goal, it is hard. While it can be hard to take the right steps, it can be harder to face the results (or lack there of) when you don't take them. -- Subscribe to our daily texts! 93. Circle of Competence
When you understand the concept of circle of competence, and more specifically, your circle of competence, you can improve your decision-making and possible outcomes. I walk us through how to find out what our circle of competence actually is, what you can do once you identify it, and how to maintain it over time. Today's challenge: What is your circle of competence? What areas are you not competent in where should you improve? How are you gaining more knowledge and education to become more competent in those areas? -- Subscribe to our daily texts!
