There are times when the points of light amidst the Trump-induced darkness can come from the most unexpected places. Like the United States Supreme Court. Glenn was invited to speak at the Principles First Summit in Washington D.C. During the conference, a "credible bomb threat" was made that required the premises to be cleared out while law enforcement with bomb-sniffing dogs secured and cleared the scene. An email was received explaining the motivation for the bomb threat and listing a number speakers at the conference who "deserve to die", (including Glenn!). Kash Patel is perhaps uniquely ill-suited to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Recall that a Colorado trial court judge found Patel was "not credible" when he testified in the case litigating the issue of whether Donald Trump engaged in insurrection. The corruption at the DOJ continues. Donald Trump's acting US Attorney for DC, Ed "Stop The Steal" Martin, directed the Chief of the Criminal Division, 24-year federal prosecutor Denise Cheung, to do something for which there was inadequate evidence. Ms. Cheung refused, choosing to remain loyal to the rule of law and the Constitution. So Martin demanded her resignation. Judge Dale Ho has had a hearing on the efforts of Trump's DOJ officials to dismiss the public corruption prosecution of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The Judge has to decide if this proposed dismissal is "in the public interest". It clearly is not. The resistance and opposition from within Donald Trump's Department of Justice is building. Rather than comply with an unethical directive from DOJ leadership, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Danielle Sassoon, resigned. Emil Bove, a member of Trump's team at the DOJ, directed the acting US Attorney in Manhattan, Danielle Sassoon, to dismiss the case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, not based on the evidence but because they wanted Adams to help the Trump administration with some of it's goals and priorities. But rather than agree to dismiss the case for political reasons, US Attorney Sassoon chose to resigned. Trump's DOJ officials then tried to move supervision of the Adams case down to Washington D.C., and following that - the top two supervisors in the DOJ's Public Integrity Section resigned as well. In a staggering display of retaliation, Bove, one of Trump's former criminal defense attorneys now a top DOJ official, told Ms. Sassoon that both she and the prosecutors who worked on the Adams case would be investigated by the DOJ. Donald Trump's Department of Justice seems to be leaving the honest practice of the law behind. DOJ leadership directed federal prosecutors at the Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney's Office to dismiss all criminal charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
