ETH Denver 2024 - Fomojis Interview with Swayze and Donny Clutterbuck

At ETH Denver Eureka John had the chance to sit down with friend and fellow Crypto Sapiens Host Donny Clutterbuck along with Digital Artist Swayze from Fomojis. Donny and Swayze dive pretty deep into the significance of Fomojis and recursive of inscriptions as well as how the BTC ecosystem has many other use cases besides being just a "boring chain for finance use cases". Fomojis is an NFT based on Bitcoin's Ordinals. Fomojis 2.0 collection made heavy use of recursive inscriptions to minimise the size of of our inscriptions as much as possible. A recursive inscription is any inscription that references another inscription. This is done in HTML/Javascript inscriptions by retrieving the content of another inscription. We are using this to construct each image based on its traits. Put simply, each inscription is not actually an image, but instead a HTML file which retrieves each indivdual trait and layers them on top of each other to create the final image. Because of this, the traits are just inscribed once, and reused many times, which saves block space. HTML files are many times smaller than images, improving the efficiency of the inscriptions enormously.   You can find them here: Fomojis: https://www.fomojis.io/ Magic Eden: https://magiceden.io/collections/ethereum/0x339b4a013fb281a488ec05762a8f29940df7e17f Swayze: X: https://twitter.com/SwayzeDigital Donny Clutterbuck: https://twitter.com/itsdonnyok

Crypto Consumer Chronicles | Building a web3 equivalent of Patreon with Fabric

In this inaugural episode of the Crypto Consumer Chronicles series, Humpty Calderon speaks with Jonny Mack from Fabric. Jonny discusses the concept of consumer crypto and the development of HyperSub.withFabric.xyz, an NFT subscription platform. He shares his background in tech and design, and how it has prepared him for the crypto industry. The conversation explores the different entry points into crypto, the importance of finding the Goldilocks zone between gambling and purism, and the need for simplicity in design. The discussion also delves into the motivation behind building Hypersub and the design principles that guided its development. Fabric founder Jonny Mack discusses the challenges of building a startup in the crypto space and the importance of finding the intersection between weird and delightful. He shares his experience of launching Hypersub, a subscription NFT platform, and the initial struggle to gain traction. Mack emphasizes the need for founders to gain insights and make informed decisions, even in the early stages of a project. He also highlights the importance of building both a protocol and a client, and the value of a great user experience in driving adoption. Mack introduces the Hypersub Accelerator program, aimed at helping creators succeed on-chain.   Links: Hybersub website: https://hypersub.withfabric.xyz/ Jonny Mack X: https://twitter.com/_nonlinear Jonny Mack Warpcast: https://warpcast.com/nonlinear.eth   Takeways Consumer crypto can be approached from different entry points, including the computer (technology and economics) and the casino (economic opportunity). Success in the industry involves finding the Goldilocks zone between these two perspectives. Simplicity in design is crucial in the complex world of crypto. The focus should be on making products and experiences easy to use and understand. HyperSub was developed to address the lack of innovative use cases for NFTs beyond collectibles. It introduces the concept of NFT subscriptions, allowing creators to offer time-based access and share revenue with subscribers. The design principles behind HyperSub include the integration of time as a dimension, the allocation of subscriber rewards, and on-chain referral rewards. These features differentiate HyperSub from traditional platforms like Patreon. Finding the intersection between weird and delightful can draw people in and make a product stand out. The worst outcome for a founder's product is indifference; it's important to receive feedback, whether positive or negative. Building both a protocol and a client is crucial in the crypto space, as a great user experience is necessary to demonstrate the value of the protocol. Gaining insights and making informed decisions is challenging for early-stage founders in the crypto niche, but it's important to connect with early customers and iterate based on their feedback. The HyperSub Accelerator program aims to help creators overcome roadblocks and succeed on-chain by providing support, distribution, and discoverability.   Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/roo-walker/bolt License code: EBIGIA3UGHHXFU5W
