Episode 45: Hingham High & Knowledge is Power

"This isn't meant to scare you, it's meant to empower you.  You're in full control of your health.  What you choose to do is up to you, but you deserve to have the information."On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast I visit two health classes at Hingham High School and share my journey and what I wish I knew years ago when I was a student there. We talk about the top killing diseases in the US, how over 90% of all those diseases are a result of lifestyle, why many common everyday foods are harmful to our health, and why it's important to make food choices based on the food as a whole (not it's protein or sugar content), and much more. Talks like this is why I started this podcast, giving people the power of knowledge and the power to take their health into their own hands.

Episode 42: Casey Edward & Nurturing The Greater Being

"There's no way your eyes won't open up to how good it makes you feel... that has to be the goal... feeling good, not what you look like."On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with popular life coach and blogger Casey Edward. I've followed Casey on Instagram for some time now, and we finally connected at my plant-based pop-up dinner this past week. We talk about Casey's previous struggles with eating and body image, how a visit from an energetic and glowing friend sparked her journey towards a plant-based diet, how judgement by others is simply a reflection of them, the history of protein and why its wrongfully risen to prominence, the power of intermittent fasting, the awesomeness of the Law of Attraction, how veganism has helped her get to a place of self love, and much more. Casey is amazing. She has this energy and positivity that you can't help but be overtaken by. I truly enjoyed every second of this conversation, and I left with a massive smile on my face. There are so many powerful pieces of advice in this episode for those who may be struggling with food, body image, or loving oneself.Show NotesCasey's Website:  https://www.caseyedward.com/Casey's Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/case_e_eats/The China Study Book:  https://www.amazon.com/China-Study-Comprehensive-Nutrition-Implications/dp/1932100660Forks Over Knives:  https://www.forksoverknives.com/the-film/Colleen Patrick-Goudreau Website:   https://www.colleenpatrickgoudreau.com/

Episode 41: David Carter & Converting Your Menu

"When you take the fear chemical out of your food... you definitely feel a change, you start sleeping better, you're more calm, you're happier, you have more energy... it's never ending."On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with ex-NFL lineman and food justice activist David Carter, or as many know him as, the 300 Pound Vegan. I've followed David for years on social media and he was one of the first vegan guys I found that demonstrated to me that I didn't need animal foods and animal protein to be strong. We talk about how David went from a meat-eating 300 pound lineman to a much stronger plant-eating 300 pound lineman, the myths around protein, how the lack of access to healthy foods in low-income areas actually originated from Jim Crow Laws, how most people, especially African Americans, are lactose intolerant and don't know it, how the top killers of Americans (heart disease, cancers, diabetes, etc.) are all direct results of food, why plant-based diets are gaining popularity in the NFL and other professional sports, and why a plant-based diet has the power to change the world. David is an incredible dude and for athletes and guys he's an amazing example of how men can not only be strong on a plant-based diet, but stronger... and that showing compassion is not weakness, but strength.Show Notes:David's Website: https://www.300poundvegan.com/David's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/300poundvegan/Forks Over Knives Film: https://www.forksoverknives.com/the-film/What The Health Film: http://www.whatthehealthfilm.com/Patrick Baboumian's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/patrikbaboumian/Dom Thompson Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/domzthompson/

Episode 40: Alison Rabschnuk & Price, Taste, Convenience

"The amount of suffering that goes on behind these factory farm walls is one of the saddest and most disturbing things that humanity has ever been a part of."On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with fellow Hingham, MA resident Alison Rabschnuk. Alison is the Director of Corporate Engagement for The Good Food Institute. The Good Food Institute is an amazing non-profit that works with scientists, investors, and entrepreneurs to make groundbreaking good food a reality. They focus on clean meat and plant-based alternatives to animal products - foods that are more delicious, safer to eat, and better for the planet than their outdated counterparts. We talk about Alison's dislike for meat at a young age, her many years as a vegetarian and why she ultimately became vegan, how she approaches feeding her omnivorous kids and husband, why lack of convenience is ultimately why more people aren't eating plant-based, why healthier foods aren't in more US public schools, the future of clean meat and plant-based foods, the huge entrepreneurial opportunity in the plant-based and clean meat space, and so much more. Alison, is amazing and what she's doing at GFI is extremely important. This is a very informative episode and I'm very excited to share!Show Notes:Good Food Institute Website: http://www.gfi.org/Alison's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alison-rabschnuk-7329301/Colleen Patrick-Goudreau Website: https://www.colleenpatrickgoudreau.com/

Episode 39: Best of 2017 & The Golden Rule

"3 Years ago, the word "vegan" was foreign, scary, crazy, unhealthy, hipster, and not even a thought to me... now I've come to realize it simply embodies a rule I was taught by my mother at a very young age, the Golden Rule."All the way back in March, I decided to start the Eat Green Make Green Podcast in hopes of educating people about the power of living a plant-based/vegan lifestyle with the intent of positively impacting peoples' lives through telling other relatable stories. I committed to doing one episode each week for the entire year. At the time, however, I only knew 3 other vegans: my mom (who I had only recently coerced into giving it a try) and my friends Pete and Carly. Those were my first 3 episodes, and I had no idea how I was going to find a new person each week to continue the show.Well, it turns out that the plant-based/vegan community is filled with absolute studs. People who went out of their way on a day's notice, people who opened their arms to me, their homes to me, their families to me, and shared my passion to help spread the word about the profound health and environmental impacts of our daily decisions. From Boston to LA to London to Singapore and many places in between, I have been absolutely humbled by the amount of love and support I've received.Although my journey started around health, 38 episodes and 39 guests later, veganism for me has taken on a much broader meaning. A meaning I've always agreed with, but had never truly connected the dots. A meaning that almost every person of every color of every religion has heard of... Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Whether you're Black, White, Brown, Yellow, or Orange, whether you're gay, straight, bi, trans, whether you're rich or poor, whether you walk on 2 legs or 4, whether you have skin or fur... we all feel pain and we all desire, in some capacity, to live.3 Years ago, the word "vegan" was foreign, scary, crazy, unhealthy, hipster, and not even a thought to me... now I've come to realize it simply embodies a rule I was taught by my mother at a very young age, the Golden Rule.As many of you know, I end each episode by asking the guest why he or she "eats green." On this week's episode, listen to the many reasons why all my amazing guests live the plant-based/vegan lifestyles.Thank you to everyone I've met or spoken with in 2017.  I am beyond excited to continue the podcast, meet more amazing people, and positively impact more lives in 2018.

Episode 37: Loui Blake & Becoming Conscious

"If we can break the narrative that different beings are deserving of different treatment because of the way they look... the world will be a better place."On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the dynamic Loui Blake. Loui is a London-based serial entrepreneur, writer, vegan advocate, plant-based startup consultant and has his hands in just about everything in the London vegan business scene. We talk about Loui's many ventures, what led him to veganism, the relationship between masculinity and food, why we really don't have much time to save our planet, why people aren't bad they're just unconscious, what the plant-based restaurant scene is like in London, his experiences with plant medicines like ayahuasca, and why whole plant foods are like a limitless pill (eat green make green!). Loui is an entrepreneurial beast and just an all around great dude and I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation.Show Notes:Loui's Website: https://www.louiblake.com/Loui's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loui_blake/The Youtube video Loui mentions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4HJcq8qHAY

Episode 36: Keith Schubert & Feeling Lighter

"Cutting out that violence from your life... it does something to you... you become lighter."On this week's episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the incredible Keith Schubert. Keith is the owner of the wildly popular Taco Party Truck, which slings ridiculously good tacos out of their food truck throughout Boston and out of their retail location in Somerville... Oh, and they're 100% plant-based! Keith has quite a wild story, I'm not sure where to begin... We talk about his life growing up in rural New Hampshire, how he went on a nation-wide tour with his band, how he then became a roadie for Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas and travelled the world, how he came up with the idea for a taco food truck while in China, all the hurdles he's had to overcome to start Taco Party, why adopting a plant-based lifestyle has made him lighter (both physically and emotionally), and much more. You're going to enjoy this one!Show Notes:Taco Party Website: http://www.tacopartytruck.com/Taco Party Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tacopartytruck/
