Stop Dreaming, Start Doing
Dreams can be interesting, scary, exciting, terrifying, or just plain bizarre. The only thing consistent about dreams is that everybody has them.
In fact, researchers have found that most people have multiple dreams each night, yet often can't remember them. Many studies have been done about the phenomenon of dreaming.
For instance, why do we forget most of our dreams? Why are some of our dreams not in color? Do men and women dream differently? Do animals dream? Can you control your dreams? How blind people dream. And the list goes on and on.
But perhaps the most interesting aspect of dreaming for me, is that research has found that we are paralyzed while we dream.
REM sleep, the stage of sleep we are in when dreaming occurs, is characterized by paralysis of our voluntary muscles. This is known as REM atonia and prevents us from acting out our dreams while we sleep. Essentially, because our motor neurons are not stimulated, our body does not move.
Though we often think of dreaming as part of the subconscious, it often works its way into our consciousness. We dream about better jobs, bigger homes, larger bank accounts, jobs and professions where we are the boss and call the shots. While this is wonderful and has its place in helping us find the lives we want to lead and live, too much conscious dreaming will paralyze you like your subconscious dreams always do.
We need to stop dreaming and start doing!
In golf, there is a great saying when somebody over analyzes their own swing: paralysis from analysis. In business and life we can suffer from the same thing.
We are told that it is noble and worthy to dream big and chase our dreams. Hogwash!
We need to live our dreams!
Each and everyday we need to do something, even if it is minimal, to live out our dreams. Consistent action no matter how small will always beat out thoughts with no action.
Listen in to learn how you can stop dreaming & start doing!

4 Ways Creative Franchisees Prosper
Many people erroneously believe that franchising strips away all creativity from the entrepreneur turned franchisee. Good franchising, though, provides the system, process, and brand while simultaneously allowing the owner to utilize creativity to drive local awareness, build an online reputation, and create a culture that attracts good employees. In this episode, I cover 4 ways franchise owners can unleash their creativity to help their franchises prosper.

What Podcasting Can Do For Your Business
As a business owner podcasting may not be the first thing on your mind, but maybe it should be. Podcasting is a digital medium that can be leveraged to add revenue streams for your business. Last weekend I attended Podcast Movement 2014, an international conference dedicated completely to podcasting (the first of its kind). It was an amazing conference and I left fired up to make this podcast even better and maybe to convince some of you that podcasting can be a great and profitable adventure.

What Entrepreneurs Can Learn From Big Business
As entrepreneurs, we sometimes get caught in the trap of thinking that we can only learn from other entrepreneurs. This is not true. There are many people and businesses that you can and should learn from, including big business. This is not an "us" v. "them" game. Every big business at one point in time was a small business. And most CEO's have had some if not many entrepreneurial ventures or experiences. But most importantly, big businesses usually understand process, systems and organizational structures much better than small businesses. They live it, breathe it and implement it each and every day. Tune in as we discuss what entrepreneurs can learn from big business and vice versa.
