23. Capitalism Sucks, Change My Mind with Jamin Hubner

Jamin Andreas Hubner, professor and researcher of economics , breaks down what capitalism is and how it isn’t compatible with a Biblical ethic. Jamin and Tim define some of the economic terms used in Evangelical spaces and what they really mean. They also explain how capitalism creates a coercion of labor due to the inequities in an economic system based on the employee and employer model. Jamin, then, describes an old buy forgotten model of the cooperative model in business and how it better meets the Biblical ethic of loving your neighbor.Follow Jamin on Twitter // @jaminhubnerFollow Tim on Instagram // @thenewevangelicals The New Evangelicals is completely crowd funded. 20. Charlie Kirk and the Resurgence of Christian Nationalism with Professor Matthew Boedy

I came across Matthew Boedy when I read an article he wrote critiquing Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric. I had to bring Professor Boedy on to ask him why he has an entire website devoted to Charlie Kirk and what his thoughts were on the resurgence of Christian Nationalism. Because Professor Boedy teaches rhetoric at the college level, we also dug in to talk radio and what makes their style of rhetoric so successful.  For those who don’t know, Charlie Kirk is one of the most influential and popular conservative commentators to come up in recent memory. He started a network called Turning Point USA which has a massive social media presence and is devoted to upholding Trumpism and conservative values. Check out Matthew’s most recent article // Debunking Charlie Kirk on the Second AmendmentFollow Tim on Instagram // @thenewevangelicals The New Evangelicals is completely crowd funded. 17. I'd Rather Be an Atheist than a Calvinist with Tripp Fuller

On this episode I interview theologian, author and mega nerd (his words) Tripp Fuller. Tripp and I talk about the 4 gospels and how they don’t all agree on the same facts and how that’s ok. We talk about finding the divine in both inside and outside the Christian faith and at the end, Tripp picks my brain on The New Evangelicals and why I I started it. Tripp’s newest book is called Divine Self-Investment: An Open and Relational Constructive Christology Studies in Open and Relational Theology and is available everywhere. Tripp’s Website Get Tripp’s Book Follow Tim on Instagram // @thenewevangelicalsThe New Evangelicals is completely crowd funded. 16. A Dialogue with Anti-Mask Pastor Samuel Deuth of Awaken Church

This is a new series that I will be doing throughout the New Evangelicals Podcast. I believe it is essential to dialogue with the other side of the Chrsitian spectrum, to ask questons and to hear what they have to say. On this episode I interview Samuel Deuth who is a Pastor at Awaken Church in California. Samuel believes that Christians should resist tyranny and oppression by resisting mask wearing both and inside and outside buildings. Samuel’s Church has hosted Charlie Kirk and will be hosting Candace Owens this summer. I had a lot of questions for Samuel and he was kind enough to come on to answer them. Watch on YoutubeFollow Samuel on Instagram // @samueldeuthFollow Tim on Instagram // @thenewevangelicalsThe New Evangelicals is completely crowd funded. 15. Hijacked by Fundamentalism, Christian Humanism and a Better Path Forward with David Gushee.

I interviewed the father of deconstructing (my title not his) Dr. David Gushee and let me tell you friends, it did not disappoint. David is well known in academic circles for writing several textbooks that are still widely used in colleges today including the book Kingdom Ethics. However, over time, David found himself more at odds with the fundamentalist take over the evangelicalism and when he wrote his LGBTQ affirming book, changing our minds, he was promptly kicked out. Since then David has spent his time writing After Evangelicalism and giving the deconstruction community better language for what they’ve experienced. David’s Website - https://davidpgushee.comGet David’s Latest Book // After Evangelicalism Follow Tim on Instagram // @thenewevangelicalsCheck Out the New MerchThe New Evangelicals is completely crowd funded.
