Today’s exciting episode of Electronically Yours with Martyn Ware features an incredibly talented old friend, Alan Rankine from the legendary band The Associates, which he co-founded with the brilliant Billy Mackenzie. Alan’s talent for arranging and producing (and his guitar and keyboard skills) helped to create 3 of the greatest albums of the post punk age – The Affectionate Punch, Fourth Drawer Down and most significantly their greatest album Sulk. Alan and Billy’s mutual love, humour and respect was evident for all to see. After they split in 1982, Alan went on to become a highly successful producer and composer of many solo projects, up to the current day. EP55: Nik Kershaw

Today’s episode of Electronically Yours with Martyn Ware stars Nik Kershaw, the well-loved singer-songwriter and producer who has had huge success in the 1980’s worldwide. Nik released eight Top 40 singles, including Wouldn’t It Be Good’, ‘I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’, ‘Human Racing’ and ‘The Riddle’. His 62 weeks on the UK singles chart through 1984 and 1985 beat all other solo artists from that period. Nik also appeared at Live Aid in 1985 and has also written a number of hits for other artists, including a UK No. 1 single in 1991 for Chesney Hawkes.
