Today’s exciting episode of Electronically Yours features two of Martyn’s oldest friends, Claudia Brücken and Susanne Freytag from XPropaganda. As Propaganda in the 80’s, they created a series of seminal recordings with Trevor Horn and ZTT, and their current work with Steve Lipson Claudia also formed the electronic band Act with Thomas Leer, and later One Two with Paul Humphries.
Their current album ‘The Heart Is Strange’ (produced by Steve Lipson) confirms their status as true innovators in the field of intelligent and intellectually stimulating pop.

EP88 Brian Hodgson

Brian Hodgson was a core member of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, most famously associated with soundtracks and sound effects for Doctor Who. Brian was not only the sound designer responsible for the TARDIS take-off and landing sounds, but also the sound of the voices of the Daleks themselves! His long and distinguished career composing for film, TV and theatre is still going, and we are very honoured that he agreed to this interview.

This exclusive episode of Electronically Ours (originally only available via our Patreon) is very special and features two old friends of Martyn, who are both luminaries at the top of their professions – Professor Malcolm Garrett, legendary graphic designer for an amazing range of artists including The Human League, Heaven 17, British Electric Foundation, The Buzzcocks, Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Peter Gabriel amongst literally thousands of others. He has been a close collaborator with Martyn for over 40 years, and will be onstage for the first time controlling images for the forthcoming Heaven 17 present Reproduction and Travelogue shows in September.
Alex McDowell’s career started in London, as an art student at the Central School of Art and Design and in 1975, he and Sebastian Conran staged the Sex Pistols first headline concert. His first commission as a designer was for Iggy Pop’s Soldier album, and he has since become one of Hollywood’s leading production designers, creating video designs for many famous 80’s artists including Madonna, Michael Jackson, ZZ Top, Sade, Depeche Mode and Queen. This led to creating worlds for major Hollywood films - Minority Report, Fight Club, The Terminal, Corpse Bride and Man Of Steel, amongst many others. He now specialises in ‘world building’ – designing complex digital worlds as a narrative tool when creating storylines for major movie makers.

Today’s Prince-themed special edition of Electronically Yours features one of the most important musicians who played with Prince in the Sign O' The Times era. Of all the musicians who played with Prince in the Sign O' The Times era, Matt Fink—AKA Dr. Fink—was one of the only players who witnessed Prince's full musical transformation first-hand.
Dr. Fink joined Prince's band in 1978, and he soon became a core member of The Revolution through the Sign O' The Times, Lovesexy, and Nude Tours. As Dr Fink recalls, “One day, Prince said to me, 'See if you can do something else with the scrub look, the doctor thing.'" - the rest is history.
