Lenora Claire - True Crime Media Consultant - Ep 21
Lenora Claire, the Erin Brovovich of stalking, joins us for her second powerful episode. So often our society misunderstands stalking to the extent that it’s often a theme in comedians’ standup. And yet, real life stalkers are frequently terrifying, dangerous and nothing to joke about. And with a justice system that does just short of nothing to help survivors, we need a bright light of hope. And that’s where Lenora Claire comes in as our bright light in a sea of darkness. In this episode, she discusses how you can reduce your risk of having a stalker, best steps to take directly after being sexually assaulted, along with legal changes she is attempting to push through our justice system, such as her app concept with geofencing that would allow survivors to track their stalker. Finally, she tells us about Lenora Claire LLC, her company designed to consult with the entertainment industry, specifically on True Crime shows, so their treatment of survivors is ethical and kind while working with them. Please join us for this episode of Open Deeply that proves that super heroines are real.
Lenora Claire is a survivor of multiple violent crimes, a member of the Los Angeles District Attorney Crime Victims Advisory Board, the CEO of Lenora Claire Consulting LLC, as well as an entertainment industry professional. Lenora’s case has been featured on 48 Hours, Dr. Oz, Crime Watch Daily, CBS News and other media outlets. Named “The Erin Brockovich of Stalking” by Vice, Lenora has helped countless people obtain restraining orders. She has served as a human shield in court and lectured on the subject of risk minimization at schools, on television and on podcasts. With fellow advocate, Jess Gilbert, they formed The Innovative Justice Alliance to propose legislation and develop methods of prevention in the technology space. Lenora Claire - The Erin Brockovich of Stalking - Ep.20
Lenora Claire once lead a Felliniesque life, orchestrating amazing art shows like “Golden Girls Gone Wild”, associating with colorful celebrities, and creating some of the best parties Hollywood had to offer. But “P.T. Barnum with Boobs” would soon have a new calling and a new moniker. In 2001 she was named one of L.A. Weekly’s people of the year. However, the bliss that came with this recognition was soon followed by terror as a dangerous stalker became fixated on her. But this overwhelming fright only caused her bright light to go on dim briefly. In this episode she tells us how she fought back. As a result, she is now known as the Erin Brockovich of stalking, and not only advocates for herself, but also for the 7.5 million Americans who are currently being stalked right now. Please join us for this amazing episode of Open Deeply as Lenora tells us all about how she is creating change in our legal system and the entertainment industry so that we all might be safer.

Dr. Kim TallBear: Critical Polyamorist & Dakota Queen - Ep 14
Dr. Kim TallBear, Professor of Native Studies, author, and regular international media commentor on issues related to Indigenous peoples, science, sexualities, and non-monogamy weaves wisdom throughout her amazing life story on this episode of Open Deeply. As a small child, Kim knew she was a queen, but the intergenerational impact of settler colonization created many hurdles for herself and her Dakota indigenous relatives. Poverty, sexual abuse, and chaos all impacted her childhood as is tragically the case for so many North American Indigenous children. However, she funneled her consequent anger to break free, creating a new reality for herself. This anger got her out into the world making her both politically and intellectually oppositional. Concurrent with her activism, she experienced non-monogamy for the first time in college, finding it very comfortable, but knowing the world would not approve. Flash forward to now, Kim is a leading intellectual on the topics of non-monogamy, Native Studies, and how these topics intersect. Her passionate explanation regarding why polyamorists, especially relationship anarchists, are allies for indigenous people, as they push back against settler colonial social norms, is profoundly mind expanding and needed. And there is so much more to this amazing episode. So, we hope you will join us for another riveting episode of Open Deeply.
