Research: COVID-19 Brain Fog, Transvaginal RLT to Reduce Pain & Melanoma

New research shows that you can treat COVID-19 brain fog with red light therapy by either treating the brain directly OR by doing full-body treatments. How cool is that?! On this week's solosode of The Red Light Report, we will dig into three separate photobiomodulation articles that cover an array of topics and continue to add to the depth of our understanding of red light therapy's potential and, equally important, its potential limitations. As I eluded to above, the first article I will report on comes from one of our good friends and former podcast guests, Praveen Arany, on how brain fog secondary to COVID-19 can be treated with red light therapy either transcranially or via full-body treatments. That's awesome to know, as that gives us options and some flexibility en route to positive benefits for this health malady; as far as I'm concerned, it's nice to have options! The second article is for the women out there and/or those that work in the women's health field: transvaginal red light therapy in order to help reduce pain related to interstitial cystitis/ bladder pain syndrome. For many of you, this may be the first time you have heard about red light therapy inside the vagina. However, this type of a treatment has been an option for women for quite some time with many potential health benefits. This is just the first time I have reported on it on the podcast. The last article is about red light therapy and its potential with treating skin cancer. There is a decent amount of overlap with the article we covered last week on RLT and cancer, but it's always great to hear the information from a slightly different vantage point and different researchers. It's nice to cover several topics in a single episode to help convey red light therapy's many potentials and versatility. At the very least, it goes to show that darn near anyone and everyone can benefit from a little red light therapy in their lives. As always, light up your health and enjoy! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Intro: (0:00) Get 15% off The Glow - BioLight's new handheld device (limited time only): (1:33) COVID-19 brain fog and photobiomodulation: (2:32) Women's health: transvaginal photobiomodulation: (14:03) Skin cancer and photobiomodulation: (21:56) Near-infrared and melanoma: (26:10) - Research article from the episode: Use of either Transcranial or Whole-Body Photobiomodulation Treatments improves COVID-19 Brain Fog Transvaginal Photobiomodulation Improves Pain in Women with Pelvic Muscle Tenderness and Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome: A Preliminary Observational Study Responses of melanoma cells to photobiomodulation depend on cell pigmentation and light parametersLearn more about these topics and on how RLT can be beneficial:Brain & Cognitive Health Women's Health Skin Health - Check out BioLight's newest device: the Glow! - Check out the Kindle version of Red Light Therapy Treatment Protocols eBook, 4th Edition - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit https://www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Dr. Mike Belkowski: Instagram LinkedIn   BioLight: Instagram YouTube Facebook

Research: Cancer & Red Light Therapy; Rabbit Hole: How Light Irradiance is Used as a Marketing Tactic

On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, I unveil BioLight's newest product, the Glow! I detail why the Glow was developed, what makes it special and why it is significantly different than any other handheld red light therapy device on the market. More importantly, I cover one photobiomodulation research article in detail on a topic that I constantly get questions about: cancer. One of the amazing features of red light therapy is that, according to the research, there are zero contraindications for implementing it for a given health condition; that includes cancer. Of course, that comes with the caveat that one should not directly irradiate the site of an active cancer, but can safely treat other parts of the body. And that is not necessarily because irradiating the active cancer site would lead to negative consequences (in some research it has, in others it has actually been beneficial), rather we simply do not know enough to confidently provide guidance on how to best yield red light therapy efficaciously. Said another way, better safe than sorry. With all of that being said, this WALT (World Association for Photobiomodulation Therapy; the "L" used to stand for Laser) paper provides some clarification on the topic of red light therapy and cancer; basically, highlighting what we do and don't know.  At the very least, this provides guide rails, much needed expert perspective on a delicate topic and informs us where we stand in the landscape of red light therapy and cancer. I also have a couple of impromptu rabbit holes I go down, one that includes how many red light therapy companies are inflating their light irradiance as a marketing tactic. With every piece of research we unearth, we only learn more about the amazing healing frequencies of red and near-infrared light. As always, light up your health and enjoy! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: Intro: (0:00) Contraindications?: (2:27) BioLight's newest product The Glow: (5:27) Red light therapy and cancer: (12:45) Photobiomodulation research article: (13:31) Intro to the article out of the frontiers in oncology journal: (14:19) Photobiomodulation parameters: (17:27) Importance of consistent exposure: (22:17) LEDs for home use: (26:18) Light irradiance: (31:23) Red Light therapy and tumors: (35:58) Safety data: (37:44) Human clinical safety data: (39:38) Xerostomia and hyposalivation: (44:40) Bone necrosis: (48:40) Hand-foot syndrome: (49:08) Graft vs host disease: (49:29) Chemotherapy-induced alopecia: (50:59) Cancer treatment and quality of life: (52:29) - Research article from the episode:Photobiomodulation therapy in management of cancer therapy-induced side effects: WALT position paper 2022 Learn more about RLT's benefits for: Cancer - Check out BioLight's newest device: the Glow!

Biological Dentistry & the Three Killers: Metals, Root Canals & Cavitations w/ Dr. Dominik Nischwitz

In a world where leaky gums leads to leaky gut and amalgam fillings are literal antennas for your phones and other nearby EMF-producing devices, it's not difficult to become justifiably fervent that your entire health begins in your mouth. My view on oral health was completely transfigured when I listened to Dr. Dominik Nischwitz, today's guest on The Red Light Report, on Ben Greenfield's podcast three years ago. Up to that point, I was under the illusion that oral health meant keeping your teeth clean, free of plaque and cavities purely for the sake of having a healthy mouth and that's where it ended. But after reading Dr. Nischwitz's book this past week and then speaking with him personally, I have re-affirmed my belief that virtually any and all health truly begins with optimizing your oral health and oral care regimen. However, you'll learn from Dr. Dome that many of us may need to unfix some of traditional medicine's dental procedures in order to truly move forward with a strong foundation of oral health. Otherwise, the vast majority of us are walking around with perpetual, low-level inflammatory issues (that we ourselves or allopathic dentists won't be able to perceive!), never-ending mercury vapor being released from fillings and many other potential vitality killers. During our conversation today, Dr. Dome covers countless topics that are likely make your jaw drop, including the simplicity of his oral hygiene regimen, how he treats patients at his dental practice in Germany, the interplay of the oral and gut microbiome, the three health killers (metals, root canals, cavitations), how nutrition and your diet is more important than brushing your teeth and much more!Dr. Dominik Nischwitz (AKA Dr. Dome) is know as "worlds leading biological dentist" and one of the first ceramic implant specialists. Dr. Dome is an international speaker and Author of "It's All in Your Mouth", with the goal of establishing biological dentistry as the new standard for health optimization protocols for all health practitioners and dentists alike using the term: "health starts in your mouth." Dr. Nischwitz has exclusively used ceramic implants since 2013, placing more than 5000 to date, and is considered a pioneer in the field of biological and holistic dentistry. His other passions include functional medicine, holistic nutrition and competitive sports. Dr. Dome trains traditional dentists in proper biological dentistry practices, and believes that optimal health starts in the mouth. This is another conversation that could've gone on for hours upon hours, as Dr. Dome is truly a beast of knowledge when it comes to biological dentistry and oral health. This is an episode I will personally listen to a couple of times and, of course, I HIGHLY recommend you read his book that covers much more information. Enjoy listening and learning from Dr. Dome and, as always, light up your health! - Dr. Mike Belkowski & Dr. Dominik Nischwitz discuss the following: Intro: (0:16) How he became the world's leading biological dentist: (3:35) Read his book - It's All in Your Mouth: (7:29) His oral hygiene routine: (7:54) His dental practice: (11:46) Biofilm, the pellicle, and the saliva for oral health: (14:34) Gut vs oral microbiome importance: (19:18) #1 chronic disease worldwide is tooth decay: (20:08) Health Optimization Summit: (21:09) Wisdom teeth removal and its effects (23:45) We are a battery: (30:56) A 2008 study on antennas in the body: (31:10) Root canals and cavitations from a biological perspective: (33:34) Whether or not you should get wisdom teeth removed: (38:13) Nutrition and lifestyle are the most important: (40:55) His online course: (45:53) Red light therapy and grounding: (51:18) Teeth whitening strategies: (53:30) Toothpaste recommendations: (54:27) Water picks: (55:53) Flossing: (57:05) Hydrogen peroxide: (57:52) Ozone: (59:40) The biggest missing link to optimal health: (1:01:56) - Read Dr. Dome's book: It's All in Your Mouth - Watch this on YouTube - Where to Learn More From & About Dr. Dome:   Find him on social media: Dr. Dome's Tap Bio   Visit his website: DNA Health & Aesthetics - Check out BioLight's new, cutting-edge full-body product: The Adapt System - Save 20% via BioLight Bundles all year long! - Check out the Kindle version of Red Light Therapy Treatment Protocols eBook, 4th Edition - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit https://www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram

Chinese Medicine, Acupressure Points for Healing Organs/Emotions & Creating a New Red Light Therapy Treatment Paradigm w/ Dr. Chris Motley

Today's guest is genuinely one of my favorite people to talk to, as we are kindred spirits in so many ways. This became even more abundantly clear on this week's episode of The Red Light Report, as Dr. Chris Motley and I both agreed to join forces on a special red light therapy project (that I am incredibly excited about!). This manifested completely out of thin air and was 100% impromptu during the middle of our conversation. If you are a longtime TRLR listener, you likely recognize this name, as he was a guest back in September '21, where we cover some fascinating topics: frequency therapy, dry needling vs. acupuncture, emotions related to specific organs, light/energy/resonance and so much more! I highly recommend going back and listening to our first conversation -- the link to that episode is in the show notes below. As a quick review, Dr. Chris Motley is a doctor of chiropractic, is credentialed in acupuncture, is a highly respected expert in Chinese Medicine and Frequency Medicine and also has certifications in Chiro + Plus Kinesiology (CPK) and Neuro Emotional Technique. With his wealth of knowledge, he is a presenter at symposiums and is also a podcast co-host on Dr. Josh Axe's, Ancient Health Podcast. Dr. Motley also announced that he is now beginning a membership where you can join and learn from him in a more intimate setting and garner more of his amazing holistic knowledge and skillset. I highly recommend checking his membership out  — I know I will!During our conversation today, Dr. Motley goes into some interesting and highly-engaging Chinese and frequency medicine and topics, such as how we can best transition our bodies and organs out of the slower, recovering mode of the winter season and into the reawakening and growing process of the spring season. He even walks through some hands-on techniques for self-treatment to help facilitate this process.  It felt like this conversation went by in a couple of minutes and Dr. Motley and I could've easily talked for hours longer. However, I am always grateful for his time and the wisdom he is impassioned to share with anyone and everyone that is interested in improving their many aspects of health holistically. Enjoy learning from Dr. Motley and, as always, light up your health! - Dr. Mike Belkowski and Dr. Chris Motley discuss the following:  Intro: (0:16) What's new in his life: (2:57) His interactive membership: (6:12) Avoiding burnout: (8:22) Overworking: (10:31)  Chinese medicine and living by its rules: (12:12) Transitioning into spring out of winter: (15:01) How to know when Chinese medicine is working: (19:01) Being in tune with your body: (21:25)  Emotions tied to the gall bladder: (22:32) Negative gall bladder health and how it manifests in the body: (23:40) Releasing anger: (25:00) Cupping specific areas of the body: (29:03) How hard to press on pressure points: (31:17) Dry needling: (32:46) Taking your health into your own hands (36:48) Red light therapy and Chinese medicine: (39:54) Red light therapy and dry needling: (44:45) Fusing old-age knowledge with new-age technology: (45:58) Translucent needles that can transfer light: (46:59) Acupuncture on a consistent basis for maintaining health and wellness: (49:41) How oral health affects overall wellness: (52:21) - Watch this on YouTube - Listen to our previous conversation from the episode in September 2021, "Energy & Emotions, Frequency Therapy & Acupuncture vs. Dry Needling w/ Dr. Christopher Motley"Apple Podcasts Spotify - Where to Learn More From & About Dr. Chris Motley:   Find him on social media: Instagram @DoctorMotley Facebook @DoctorMotley   Go to his website: DoctorMotley.com - Check out BioLight's new, cutting-edge full-body product: The Adapt System - Save 20% via BioLight Bundles all year long! - Check out the Kindle version of Red Light Therapy Treatment Protocols eBook, 4th Edition - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit https://www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram

Research: Transcranial Photobiomodulation on Football Players w/ Potential Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)

On this week's episode of The Red Light Report, I will peel back the curtain on BioLight's newest piece of innovative red light therapy technology: the Adapt System. Many of you likely heard about it when it was officially released a couple of months ago, but I wanted to give an explanation of what makes the Adapt System, which consists of the Adapt Table and the Adapt Panel, so unique, versatile and a must-have for any physician/practitioner, longevity clinic, med spa, recovery/performance center, yoga studio/cross fit gym, etc. that is looking to implement red light therapy for their patients and clients. After that, we will spend the bulk of the episode on one piece of photobiomodulation research that looks at transcranial RLT for treating the brains of four ex-football players with possible chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. And CTE has become a very hot topic in the NFL, especially ever since the movie, Concussion (starring Will Smith), was released back in 2015. However, the concern regarding CTE in football, other sports and other aspects of life has only grown and remains ever-present to this day.It is also appropriate to recognize that this particular study utilized only four participants, which is very low in the world of research. However, even with that in mind, the results ascertained in this study simply by directing near-infrared light to the brain is unequivocally profound... and the results were achieved in only six weeks!Hopefully you find this episode fascinating and insightful. As always, light up your health (especially your brain)! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: 0:16 - The Adapt System - BioLight's new, cutting-edge full-body product 8:33 - Photobiomodulation research on treating concussions 9:40 - CTE disease 15:09 - Treating strokes with photobiomodulation 16:12 - LED vs laser treatment 18:57 - Reactive oxygen species and free radicals 19:29 - How often to use red light therapy 25:12 - Less irratibility & anxiety 26:20 - Transcranial photobiomodulation treatment 27:20 - Increased BDNF 27:46 - Treatment of PTSD 38:31 - The conclusion of the article _ Research article from the episode:Transcranial Photobiomodulation Treatment: Significant Improvements in Four Ex-Football Players with Possible Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy - Learn more about RLT's benefits for: Brain & Cognitive Health - Check out BioLight's new, cutting-edge full-body product: The Adapt System _ Save 20% via BioLight Bundles all year long! _ Check out the Kindle version of Red Light Therapy Treatment Protocols eBook, 4th Edition _ To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit https://www.biolight.shop _ Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram

Dr. Mike Belkowski Presents Photobiomodulation Research & Benefits in Rome, Italy

Ciao! For the 100th episode of The Red Light Report, we are traveling to Italy! In mid-November last year, I was one of three English-speaking guest speakers at a functional medicine and nutrition conference in Rome where I spoke on — you guessed it — red light therapy. It was a genuine honor and a fun experience to spread the word and knowledge on photobiomodulation overseas.   In my presentation, I describe the fundamental tenants of red light therapy, the mechanisms of how it actually works at the cellular level, go over the wide array of photobiomodulation research and provide some tips and tricks as to how one can best utilize this amazing therapy. If you have been listening to this podcast for some time, most of the information you have heard before. But as you all know, repetition of important information leads to deep learning and empowerment. Even for myself, I personally love to revisit this information every so often as it is the foundation and cornerstone of what red light therapy is, the nuts and bolts of how it works and just some of the profound research that proves its efficacy.Enjoy the episode, learn (and re-learn) lots and light up your health... grazie! - Dr. Mike Belkowski presents the following: 9:45 - Exposing your body to red and near-infrared light 10:08 - Optimizing mitochondrial health 11:53 - Mitochondrial dysfunction and Dr. Doug Wallace 12:34 - Diseases caused by mitochondrial dysfunction 14:52 - Sunlight exposure and an interesting study done in Sweden 16:04 - Mal-illumination 17:40 - Cytochrome C Oxidase - how the mitochondria responds to red & near-infrared light 19:25 - The electron transport chain 25:06 - Mitochondrial theory of aging 25:47 - Redox potential 21:35 - Research on photobiomodulation 27:49 - Research on anxiety & depression 29:48 - Research on eye health 30:49 - Research on fat loss 32:34 - Research on oral health 35:30 - Research on pain 36:54 - Research on pre-conditioning for exercise 38:30 - Research on skin health 39:40 - Research on sleep 40:53 - Research on thyroid health 42:08 - How to use red light therapy - Watch this presentation on YouTube _ Check out BioLight's new, cutting-edge full-body product: The Adapt System _ Save 20% via BioLight Bundles all year long! - Check out the Kindle version of Red Light Therapy Treatment Protocols eBook, 4th Edition - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit https://www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram

Research: Hair Loss w/ Vortex Beams, Fat Loss & Insulin Resistance via Red Light Therapy

This week on The Red Light Report, we will continue to dive into more photobiomodulation research. However, this research will be looking at three unique topics that typically don't get as much attention. The first article investigates treating hair loss via red light therapy; not using "normal" light, but rather red light therapy via vortex beams. This is the first time I have heard of vortex beams, but apparently it led to more efficacious results! The second piece of research is an abstract of an article that tackled red light therapy for insulin resistance; the preliminary results look promising, which would be a massive win for those dealing with blood sugar and insulin-related diseases. Lastly, we take a deeper exploration into an article that utilizes red light therapy for fat loss in obese individuals. The researchers also have more insight into the mechanism of how photobiomodulation actually decreases fat adiposity on the body.Hair loss, insulin resistance and fat loss — seems like three major areas of the health market that consumers could greatly benefit from a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical and more financially friendly option. Huzzah for red light therapy! As always, enjoy the episode, learn lots and light up your health! - Dr. Mike Belkowski discusses the following: 1:33 - The first research article on hair growth 11:30 - The second research article on insulin resistance 13:32 - Results of the study 14:29 - Combining red light therapy with exercise 20:00 - The last research article on fat loss with red light therapy 27:39 - The conclusion in the fat loss article - Research articles from the episode: Enhanced hair growth effects through low-level vortex beams radiation: An experimental animal study   Photobiomodulation Therapy on the Treatment of Insulin Resistance: A Narrative Review Effects of LED photobiomodulation therapy on the subcutaneous fatty tissue of obese individuals - histological and immunohistochemical analysis - Save 20% via BioLight Bundles all year long! - Check out the Kindle version of Red Light Therapy Treatment Protocols eBook, 4th Edition - To learn more about red light therapy and shop for the highest-quality red light therapy products, visit https://www.biolight.shop - Stay up-to-date on social media: Instagram
