Mobility in transportation employment
Charlie Saffro - CEO - CS Consulting - Chicago, IL
Charlie, we’re seeing lots of layoffs and obviously some repositioning of a lot of pieces right now - how hectic is the world of recruiting at the moment?
One of the interesting points we talked about on a show last week was high level executives moving from one company to another - like the head of Uber Freight going to Flexport. What are you hearing in terms of moves like that?
There’s also the possibility, inadvertently or not, of people talking to individuals at another company and trying to get them to change companies - especially in cases where certain companies need certain types of people. What are you hearing about people being targeted for jobs at other companies?
It used to be that people were getting a new job for a substantial raise, thus the great resignation. Now it seems like people are getting a new job for job security - is that the way to go if they don’t feel settled in their current position?

How to deal with double brokering
Karl Fillhouer - VP of Sales - Circle Logistics - Phoenix, AZ
How big of a problem is double brokering in your experience/?
TIA president Anne Reinke said that double brokering is a safety issue and not just a crime of commerce - should the FMCSA have more legal boudaries when it comes to double brokering or should stopping or deterring potential double brokers come under someone else’s jurisdiction?
What’s the right way to deal with this situation when it happens?
Would you agree with Craig Fuller that load boards need to bear some of the blame for double brokering?

Training at brokerages? How and why?
Mary O’Connell - Check Call Community Host - FreightWaves - St. Louis, MO
Training is a relatively new concept to the world of supply chain and brokerages. Like we talked about last time, it's always been welcome to the company, have a nice day. Why have some of the better brokerages adapted a more comprehensive training plan?
We all know what the cream of the crop does, but what about those who see the value in implementing a training program but struggle with how to implement it. Like if they can’t justify the people to create the training, taking employees off the floor etc?
What about re-training or continuous learning? If someone is already doing their job well why bother pulling them into some training?
What about leadership training? Motivating a team to stay engaged and not letting underperformers get outshined by the top ones?
My biggest gripe is asking for feedback and then not doing anything about it. What's a way to make sure that voices are actually being heard.
