35. Winning on Facebook with Kathy DiDomenico
"Eighty percent of success is Showing Up." While the precise math of that Woody Allen quote may be up for debate, consistently "showing up" for our followers on social media seems to be the key ingredient to steady growth. Today I'm talking to Kathy DiDomenico of Royale Funky Junque about how she grew her audience to over 100,000 followers. We discuss going Live on Facebook, monetization, and dealing with internet trolls. Kathy shares some great advice about getting over your fears and how little things can lead to videos going viral! Kathy DiDomenico is the creator of Royale Funky Junque, a crafting and DIY company that focuses on refurbishing second hand items and turning them into art and home décor. Royal Funky Junque is a blog, an online Shopify store, and present on multiple social media platforms. In March of 2020, Kathy lost her office job and finally decided to pursue her Creative passion full time. By March of 2021, she had already hit 10,000 followers on Facebook and begun monetizing! 33. IG Brand Collaboration with Kristi Bissell
Collaboration, whether it be with other Creatives, a company, or a brand can be crucial to the success of your business. My guest, Kristi Bissell of The Pickled Rose, attributes the growth of her audience to over 170,000 followers in five years to getting the right exposure. She talks to me today about how she was able to showcase her work through opportunities that she took advantage of, and those she went out and created for herself. Kristi gives us the lowdown on product only collaborations, agencies that will manage company partnerships on your behalf, and how to pitch yourself to brands and other influencers. She also speaks about the benefits of finding a community and how helping others will help yourself. Kristi Bissell is the voice and creative talent behind The Pickled Rose, a blog dedicated to DIY, crafting, and home décor. She is also an Instagram Influencer under the same name and present on various other platforms including Facebook. Like many, Kristi started her blog and social media accounts as a creative outlet with no intention of making it her full time job. When she reached about 10,000 followers, companies began approaching her with collaboration opportunities. Now, a few years and several thousand followers later, Kristi still believes in the value of making connections and taking chances. Thanks for listening! 29. The Entrpreneurial Planner with Chelly Ontis
How do you stay organized when there are a million things you need to do for your business and multiple competing priorities? How do you keep yourself accountable? What if I told you there's a tool that will help you do these things that is made BY a Creative FOR Creatives? Today I've invited Chelly Ontis to the show. Chelly Ontis is a graphic designer and the author of the blog We Can Make That. Finding it hard to balance her day job and her side hustle schedule and disappointed in the limitations of the products that were on the market, she made her own planner to stay organized. Other Creatives caught wind of it and you know how that story goes... by 2018, Chelly was publishing and selling out of the Entrepreneurial Planner. In this episode, Chelly gives us a verbal walkthrough of the planner and speaks about the success stories it's users have experienced. Thanks for listening!
