It’s great to hear of they use their different skill set to ensure that the business is thriving and also how because they are family, it makes them more committed - especially as no one wants to wreck Christmas.

On today’s episode, Jason Chat with Dan Uyemura owner, and one of the three founders of Push Press inc. Dan’s background is computer software ing. By having a computer/desk job, dan admits that it caused him to put on weight which leads him to Crossfit. After taking his L-1 and opening the gym, he realised that the CrossFit space was in need software was user-friendly and didn’t create more work for the owner. Being a box owner, Dan used everything he knew about running a box and what is needed from the software to create something that can help people.

144. Ron Torrance | CrossFit Health
On today’s episode Jason Ackerman sits down Ron Torrance is an MD-L1 and part of the Derelict Doctor Club (DDC) which has come up a few times. Ron runs the Regenesis Tampa Bay, whereby he treats Orthopaedic injuries differently by using rich plasma and bone marrow stem cells — giving people another option before surgery. He is very involved with Crossfit HQ by going there about every three months, and he’s an affiliate owner Crossfit Love, in Philly. They are looking to open a second affiliate in Maini that would allow for a merge of Crossfit and health care in one. Ackerman and Ron discuss everything from NSCA court case to the shift that Crossfit made over the year to 18 months. Also an almost behind the scene look at the DDC, which, to most of us one we will never get the opportunity to attend and is still a mystery.

143. Yuri Feito | CrossFit Health
On today’s episode, Fern sits down with Yuri Feito, who is an associate professor in the Department of Exercise, Science and Sports Management at Kennesaw State. He’s published “A 4-Year Analysis of the Incidence of Injuries Among CrossFit-Trained Participants” in the Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine. A four-year analysis of the incidents of injuries amongst Crossfit trained participants, which is the longest one ever. In 2014 Yuri got turned over 5 times from publishing the paper because it had the word Crossfit in the titles, no one wanted to be involved with it. Yuri is a strong advocate for not only Crossfit but just movement itself. They dive into public health, Crossfit injuries, exercise studies can be trusted and much more topics.

140. Amy Hollingsworth | CrossFit Certifications
On today’s episode, Fern sits down with Amy Hollingsworth, the Certification Program Manager for Crossfit and owners Kitsap Crossfit with her husband, Dan. Fern and Amy discuss the differences between The Levels 1, 2, 3 and the soon to be released level 4. Nicole Carroll says that “Amy’s superpower is getting things a credited.” Amy has been fundamental when it comes to The Level 3 being certified. She talks us through how it’s professional credential with less than 1% of Crossfit Credentialed professional having it. She takes a deep dive into why you really do need to know your stuff for this exam and why it demands a lot from you. Also, Amy remind us how much The Level 3 is still in its early days with it came out in 2015. Part of that is it’s always getting refreshed and update, so it reflects the standard of the coaches taking it. Amy’s answers some questions around The Level 4, like it is real and why it’s taking it’s time to be released. The simple answer is like the all things Crossfit wants to do it right and make sure it means something not just in the Crossfit world be everywhere.

On today's episode Fern discuss what happens once a year at Crossfit Rife, it's called RX Month. It's where for a whole month they change what it means to do the workout "prescribed". It's called RX month because of it about giving everybody the opportunity to RX the stimulus. They also dive into the how-to brief and run RX month. The problems that can come about and the push that came from some members at first. The vita focus with this month is to help push the stimulus to the front of everyone's mind and deemphasizes the weight on the barbell.

138. Dr. Steve Ilardi | Depression and CrossFit
On today's episode, Ackerman talks to Dr Steve IIardi about the benefits of exercise when it comes to depression. Dr Steve Ilardi is a professor of clinical psychology and the author of The Depression Cure: The 6-Step Program to Beat Depression Without Drugs. Earlier on in his career, Dr Ilard found the depression epidemic was getting worse and traditional forms of treatment aren't working. He was a correlation between the epiphany and of the 21-century lifestyle of being sedentary, indoors and a heavy fast-food debit that was creating the problem. Dr Ilard examples how exercise is more beneficial than any other anti-depression medication on the market. They cover a wide host of topics in today episode such as symptom and activity has this impact too, the more critical discussion how you as box owner can help a member who comes to about their depression. As it will happen at some point, and probably already has.
