How to Overcome Negative and Distorted Body Image
Today, we are going to be talking about body image and how the way we view ourselves is often distorted and how that distorted view of ourselves can lead to pain, depression, and anxiety and hold us back from doing so much! Please note: This topic may be very sensitive to many. We are doing this episode to expand awareness of these challenges and the subsequent problems they may make even worse. Please be aware this episode COULD potentially trigger some very raw emotions and reactions. We address body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and suicidal thoughts and actions. If any of this is sensitive, again, please be aware these are addressed. Additionally, if any of this is a challenge you're having trouble overcoming, please seek help. Will and Jon are NOT professional clinicians and nothing stated during this episode should be taken or perceived as medical advice.
Though we will talk broadly about body image, we will also get into speaking specifically about MEN and body image as this is typically seen as something that affects females more than males… and this may even be true - BUT it IS still a problem for boys and men and we want to make sure it IS known amongst that population and addressed!

Hope After Hardship w/ William Tariq Palmer
We are going to learn what it like to serve 31 years in prison and then be subject to our stifling parole system
As a desperate 17yo juvenile our guest William committed a robbery and he was tried as an adult that led to a 31yr long incarceration in the state of California. Today if he committed the same crime he would likely not have been sentenced as an adult or served no more than seven years.
Now out of prison in 2019 and having gone through parole, William is passionate about helping others and is living his purpose as the voice of system-impacted individuals that are now in a re-entry program.
His experience with law enforcement, prison and parole, qualifies him to create a responsive narrative to reform system-based policies and laws.
Here is some more info about our guest
He’s been appointed to the Reentry Council as: The Sentencing Commissioner;
resides as the co-chair on the Legislation, Policy, and Practices subcommittee; and a member of the Direct Services subcommittee. He has just been appointed to the San Francisco Sheriff Oversight Board. He volunteers his time with several organizations dedicated to system impacted people: United Playaz, The Adachi Project, Marin Shakespeare Company, and the former host of One Community One Mic for All Of Us Or None.
He is now the Exec Director of Life After Next - https://www.lifeafternext.org... and they're looking for people to invest in the lives of others. Reach out!
