E81: Know Your Worth, Live Your Dreams, and Step Into Center Stage of Your Life
In this episode of Your Permission Prescription, I invite you to step into center stage of your own life. To stop abandoning yourself and start making your own needs a priority. In my marriage, I spent nearly two decades doing everything possible to ensure that my then husband's needs were met. I did this out of self-preservation. The antidote to this is to give yourself what you need. You are inherently worthy. Make a commitment to yourself that you are not going to give unless you're giving to yourself as well. Remember that change begins with the commitment to our own evolution. Don’t wait to make a meaningful shift in your life. Give yourself the gift by joining The Art of Change book club. E78: Create a Loving Relationship with Yourself through Journaling
In this episode of Your Permission Prescription, I share my own personal journey with journaling and why it’s such a powerful practice for self-inquiry and self-discovery. Initially, my journey with journaling began when I was 11-years-old as a way for me to communicate with my deceased brother. I was a loner, and I still am, quite frankly. Journaling was a comfort to me, a way to make sense of the world. Writing is how I solve and dissolve complex equations of the heart and head. I honestly believe that the number one way we can create an ongoing, truly honoring, truth telling and loving relationship with ourselves is by journaling. If you’re curious about journaling, I created The Art of Change to guide you, so you can experience a new level of self-connection. E77: Gratefulness, Thankfulness, and Negativity Bias
In this episode of Your Permission Prescription, I’d like to share a reflection on gratitude and thankfulness. Here in the United States, Thanksgiving is approaching. And one of the things I see, quite often, is our human tendency to default to the negative. What happens is we automatically, and sometimes unconsciously, start looking for what’s wrong. This can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Today, my invitation is this: What can we do to be present? How can we become aware of what we’re thinking? To focus on what’s going right instead of what’s going wrong. Everything that happens in our lives contributes to who we are and will become. E76: How to Cozy Up to Conflict
If you’re a people-pleaser, a peacekeeper, or conflict-avoider, this episode of Your Permission Prescription is for you. We tend to avoid conflict so we don’t feel discomfort, or find ourselves susceptible to someone else’s anger or disappointment. However, the more you avoid external conflict, your internal conflict grows. Remember, it’s not your responsibility to manage someone else’s response to your truth. True, authentic relationships can hold space for both conflict and connection. E75: Underlying Commitments: What They Are, How They Keep Us Stuck & The Key to Getting Free
In today’s episode of Your Permission Prescription, I’m sharing a concept with you that changed my life - Underlying Commitments, or Hidden Commitments. Whenever there is a discrepancy between what we say we want and what we’re actually experiencing, there’s an old, underlying commitment holding us back. So, when we feel stuck, unable to make the changes we desire, it’s most likely because of a hidden commitment, not discipline or willpower. When you align your commitment with your vision, you can finally propel yourself forward. If you’d like a deeper exploration of this concept and others, check out my new guided journal, The Art of Change: Eight Weeks to Making a Meaningful Shift in Your Life. https://nancylevin.com/nancy-levin-books/#aoc

E73: Clutter, Unfinished Business, Outdated Dreams - it’s time to Calibrate
In today’s episode of Your Permission Prescription we’ll explore one of the Eight Dimensions of Reinvention - Calibration. Calibration is the way we gauge, assess, and adjust as we move through the process of reinvention. It’s an act of radical honesty with ourselves. Calibration invites us to check-in with our current pathway to ensure it still serves our vision, or course-correct if it doesn't. Our inability or unwillingness to recalibrate can lead to self-sabotage. We won’t move closer to our goals if they’re not in alignment with our vision. Often, what keeps us from our vision are Incompletions. What unfinished business, loose ends, or neglected responsibilities do you have in your life? E72: Setting Boundaries with Difficult People
In today’s episode of Your Permission Prescription, I’m sharing how to set boundaries with difficult people. Here’s the good news: It’s not as difficult as you may think. Since your boundaries are ultimately between you and you, even if they involve someone else, it’s always your responsibility to set — and hold — them, whether the other person is difficult or not. You have no control over what anyone else does, however, you CAN set boundaries and hold yourself accountable to honor these boundaries. Remember, you don’t need to verbalize your boundaries, or get anyone else's buy-in or permission.
