Leading up to Thanksgiving 2012, Byron David Smith claimed that his home had been broken into at least half a dozen times over the course of a few months, only one of which he reported to the police.  On Thanksgiving Day, 2012, Byron was home, reading a book in his favorite reading chair when he heard glass break and decided to take matters into his own hands.  The next moments were captured on an audio recorder, as Byron shot Haile Kifer and Nicholas Brady, two teens from his neighborhood.  It would be up to a jury to decide, was it self defense or murder? In the late 1960’s, Hollywood Boulevard was filled with people carrying flyers that said “Repent or Perish.” These people were members of The Alamo Christian Foundation, a ministry led by husband and wife, Tony and Susan Alamo. The two called themselves prophets and said that God spoke directly to them. What started as a chance meeting in a bar led to the formation of one of the most notorious cults in America. To many onlookers, the “foundation” just appeared to be a strange type of ministry. Little did they know that behind closed doors and away from the cameras, there was rampant physical assaults, child abuse, sexual abuse, and child pornography. 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic was a beautiful, bright young girl living in the sleepy town of Bay Village, Ohio with her family. She loved school, horses, and being silly. Between 2002 and 2004, three girls between the ages of 14 and 21 vanished from the streets of Cleveland, Ohio. They were all last seen within a few block radius of one another and seemingly disappeared into thin air. A short phone call after one of the girls went missing was the only clue and it didn’t provide police with much to go on. Then, almost 11 years after the first woman went missing, the three girls were found, having been held captive in the home of a local school bus driver. All three girls were alive, but had suffered through years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
