On a Monday in May of 2005, deputies in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho responded to a call at the Groene residence. When they arrived, they found blood covering the walls and floors of the home. The bodies of the mother, Brenda, her boyfriend, Mark, and Brenda’s 13-year-old son, Slade, were lying on the living room floor, clearly victims of a vicious attack. A triple murder was unheard of in the small Idaho town. As they looked around the rest of the home, detectives realized that the two youngest Groenes, 8-year-old Shasta and 9-year-old Dylan were missing. There was no sign of the two anywhere on the property or in the surrounding area. Less than two months later, a waitress at a local Denny’s called 911 because she believed that Shasta was sitting in her restaurant. Police arrived to find the missing girl and her abductor, who was arrested immediately. But who was this man who’d committed a triple murder and a double kidnapping? It couldn’t have been a first time offender. Most importantly, where was Dylan Groene? On Friday, December 27th, 1985, 28-year-old Deborah Ann Wolfe didn’t show up to her job as a nurse at the Fayetteville, North Carolina Veterans’ Medical Center. Her mother was immediately concerned and reported her missing. The young nurse was found less than a week later, dead in the pond outside of her cabin. Her death was ruled accidental, but Debbie’s family, friends, and much of the community believe that she was the victim of murder. Inconsistencies in the investigator’s theory of what happened left Debbie’s loved ones wondering if evidence of a murder was intentionally being overlooked. On Saturday, March 1st, 2008, the Caffey family home in Emory, Texas was engulfed in flames. Terry Caffey, the father, had been shot five times and had amazingly escaped the burning home and crawled 500 yards to his neighbors’ house, where 911 was called. Firefighters found the burned remains of 38-year-old Penny Caffey, 13-year-old Matthew, and 8-year-old Tyler. Still missing was 16-year-old Erin. Terry was immediately rushed to the hospital and into surgery. Once Terry was in recovery, a Rains County Sheriff told him that his only daughter was alive and well. Unfortunately, Terry’s relief that Erin was safe was short-lived. The Sheriff also told Terry that she was in custody for being involved in the murders. He was stunned. There was no way that his daughter had anything to do with this. However, Terry, and the rest of the community, were shocked to find that the evidence against Erin was overwhelming. Natalee Holloway was on her senior class trip in Aruba in 2005.  The graduates decided to go out with a bang on their last night on the island and went to a popular bar to have some fun and some drinks as the legal drinking age there is 18.  Natalee was seen leaving the bar with a few local boys and was never seen again.  It’s been 18 years and neither Natalee nor her remains have been found.  Natalee’s family has never stopped looking for her and believe the Aruban police played a big role in covering up what happened to their daughter.
