Emiko Prigmore
In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Emiko from Shoreline, WA.This episode is supported by Dry Farm Wines: Gin has finally solved her wine dilemma by switching to Dry Farm Wines for good! If you are looking for organic/biodynamic wines that are lab tested to ensure they are sugar free, lower in sulfites, and contain lower alcohol, go to dryfarmwines.com/ifstories to start your own subscription to Dry Farm Wines, and get an extra bottle for just one penny in your first shipment!Emiko is a stay-at-home mom of two kids. In early 2017, Emiko learned about IF from a friend on Facebook who posted the book Delay, Don't Deny. Emiko looked into IF and the IF groups, but because of the clean fast expectation, didn't begin IF at that time. She was doing strict Keto at the time, and cream in coffee was acceptable within the Keto community. With Keto, she got down to 130lbs, and was happy with this weight! But then after 'relaxing' with carbs, she regained some of what she had lost. In the Summer of 2018, Emiko was re-introduced to IF by two friends. In July of 2018, she began to fast clean, continuing with low carb. But this time, Emiko was ready to give up the cream in her coffee!Emiko has lost around 20 pounds since beginning IF and built lean muscle by working out. She loves the way her workouts make her feel, and does it for both the physical and emotional benefits. She no longer has guilt and shame about food. Emiko feels that IF was a "catalyst into a pathway of true self-care." She realized that before IF, she valued an excess of food and "stuff" in her life. Now, she focuses on balancing choices with her time, money and food. The advice Emiko would give to new IFers: Value each meal. Dismiss the idea of 'bad' foods. Food is not good or bad. Food is not clean or dirty. Nothing about IF should feel like a punishment. Recognize your body's signals. Find a place in a community. Throw away the idea of a goal weight. Look at it as goal health...your goal life! Your body is a temple, not an idol.Share your intermittent fasting stories with Gin:gin@intermittentfastingstories.comFollow Gin on Twitter@gin_stephensConnect with Gin on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Gin-Stephens-370557866639779Read Gin’s book Delay, Don’t DenyListen to Gin on the Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast:Intermittent Fasting Stories on iTunesSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This single comment changed Marie's life...she began to restrict food and calories, and four years later found herself almost obese. Dieting destroyed her.At the end of 2017, Marie's daughter-in-law shared Delay, Don't Deny, with her, and Marie instantly connected with Gin's story. At the beginning of 2018, Marie began IF with a 20:4 approach. She decided that she would never restrict anything in order to heal her relationship with food. Her mind needed to be healed, even before the weight loss. She has lost 42 pounds very slowly, but Marie is completely at peace with this! She said from the beginning that her body would do what it needed to do, and she will never define herself by a specific size. For the first time in her life, Marie is enjoying her life and has peace with food. She has some incredible NSVs (non-scale victories) because of the power of IF: her skin tags are gone, she no longer takes meds for allergies, GERD is better, and she no longer has recurring fever blisters. She used to have Plantar Fasciitis, but has not experienced another occurrence! The advice that Marie would give to new IFers: Breathe. Embrace that IF is a lifestyle. Own your own journey. Define what success means to YOU.Marie will never go on another diet, and she knows that her body will find a healthy weight. Her mind and emotions have healed. She truly has peace of mind, and will IF for the rest of her life.Share your intermittent fasting stories with Gin:gin@intermittentfastingstories.comFollow Gin on Twitter@gin_stephensConnect with Gin on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Gin-Stephens-370557866639779Read Gin’s book Delay, Don’t DenyListen to Gin on the Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast:Intermittent Fasting Stories on iTunesSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode 87: Catherine
In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Catherine from Houston, TX.This episode is supported by Dry Farm Wines: Gin has finally solved her wine dilemma by switching to Dry Farm Wines for good! If you are looking for organic/biodynamic wines that are lab tested to ensure they are sugar free, lower in sulfites, and contain lower alcohol, go to dryfarmwines.com/ifstories to start your own subscription to Dry Farm Wines, and get an extra bottle for just one penny in your first shipment!Catherine is a stay-at-home-mom, and has an in-home bakery business. She heard about IF from her best friend long before she began fasting herself. Catherine told herself at that time that "IF was not for her," and she could "never go that long without eating." The turning point in her life was in January of 2019 when she saw a picture of herself that she did not recognize. She immediately ordered Delay, Don't Deny and began IF that month. She started at 18:6, and has not gone a day without fasting since! Catherine has lost around 60 pounds and is focusing on feeling great instead of a pants size. She and her best friend started an IF support group of their friends in Texas, and it has been a wonderful way to cheer one another on! The health benefits she has experienced happened quickly: her eczema cleared up, along with her skin smoothing out. She looks ten years younger! Within six months of IF, she was off of her anti-anxiety meds. Catherine's husband also joined her in IF, and found that it helped with his ADHD. The advice Catherine would give to new IFers: "Find what works for you, which can change. Don't overthink IF, because it then becomes a "diet". Focus on your health, not just a pants size or scale weight." Catherine has a better relationship with food. And after countless years of avoiding mirrors, she confidently sees a new and healthy woman looking back at her!Share your intermittent fasting stories with Gin:gin@intermittentfastingstories.comFollow Gin on Twitter@gin_stephensConnect with Gin on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Gin-Stephens-370557866639779Read Gin’s book Delay, Don’t DenyListen to Gin on the Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast:Intermittent Fasting Stories on iTunes See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode 86: Paul Brodie
In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Paul Brodie. Paul is a best selling author and a publisher who runs Brodie Consulting. He helps people share their stories with the world, and in this episode, he shares how intermittent fasting has changed his life and improved his health. At Paul's highest weight of 340 pounds, his doctor told with him that he was prediabetic, had high blood pressure, high blood sugar, thyroid issues, and "would be dead in five years" if he did not lose weight. Paul focused on counting calories, and that worked for awhile. He lost 60 pounds and kept it off. But then he plateaued, and could not lose any more weight. In July of 2019, another doctor suggested IF, and he started right away. Paul keeps a daily 17:7 routine, and has lost 20 pounds. He shared IF on his personal Facebook page, and someone commented about Gin's book, Delay, Don't Deny and her DDD Facebook group. Paul's goal is to eventually get off his thyroid meds, as he loves the way IF heals the body! The advice he'd give to people who'd like to write their IF story: "Just get started. Think of 10 different talking points to cover in your book. Try to find a way to record yourself, and start talking. Consider 10 minutes of audio for each chapter. That will be the foundation of your book."The advice he'd give to new IFers: "Trust the process. You have to get used to water and black coffee. IF takes time!"Paul feels like a completely different person, and is totally committed to IF for the rest of his life. Episode 84: Natalie
In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Natalie, a young mother who lives in Germany with her husband. This episode is brought to you by Organifi: visit organifi.com/ifstories for 15% off any product. Gin's favorite? Organifi Gold! Natalie shares that she was always overweight, and always the "bigger girl." In high school, she started her first diet by counting calories and working out. She also took diet pills and detoxes, and nothing really worked...yet she continued to look for something to help her lose weight. In 2014, she became a Health & Wellness Coach. She thought this would keep her motivated, but instead, it became emotionally and physically draining. In 2015, she and her husband tried to start a family, and after a year, they saw a fertility doctor. She experienced deep depression as a result of this, and ate out of emotion. Finally in September, 2016, she got pregnant. Breastfeeding actually made her gain weight, which brought back depression. In 2018, she had a miscarriage, and this brought back her depression yet again. Once Natalie hit her highest weight of 195 lbs, she decided to get serious about her health. In June 2018, Natalie came upon Delay, Don't Deny on Facebook from a comment someone had posted, recommending that others read the book. After quickly reading it, Natalie began IF on June 28th. She has done 18-20 hour fasts ever since. Weight "fell off". She has worked hard on changing her diet mindset, as IF has helped her to "heal mentally and emotionally."The health benefits that Natalie has experienced have been incredible energy (she no longer needs an afternoon nap) and she has barely even had a cold since beginning IF!The advice she'd give new IFers: "Research IF so that you know why you do what you do. Understand the science behind it. Listen to Podcasts for support and encouragement."Share your intermittent fasting stories with Gin:gin@intermittentfastingstories.comFollow Gin on Twitter@gin_stephensConnect with Gin on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Gin-Stephens-370557866639779Read Gin’s book Delay, Don’t DenyListen to Gin on the Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast:Intermittent Fasting Stories on iTunes See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In her freshman year of high school, she begged her mom to try her first diet. Looking back, McKenna really didn't need to lose weight, but with being a dancer, she was very body conscious. She didn't lose much weight. In order to prepare for her audition to the dance program, she did a strict 'eat-every-two-hours' diet, getting to her lowest weight. But during a trip to Mexico for Spring Break 2017, McKenna broke her foot. This took her out of dance altogether until the end of the year. She got a full-time job, which had her sitting all day long, and gained around 50-60 lbs. She tried Keto, low carb, etc., but nothing worked to lose weight. Then, in October of 2018, her mom sent her a YouTube video about IF. She also discovered this podcast. They both started 16:8, and haven't looked back! So far, McKenna has lost 33 lbs, and she feels so very free. Some of the health benefits she's experienced: her skin has smoothed out, her acne is better, she no longer needs her glasses, her foot has stopped hurting, and some of her scars are gone! She also enjoys "brain clarity" and "mental focus."The advice McKenna would give to new IFers: "Be patient, your body is going to get to where you're most happy. Clean fast, take it day by day. Some days are hard, so remind yourself why you're doing this, and how good you feel. You'll be thankful for why you stuck with it!"Share your intermittent fasting stories with Gin:gin@intermittentfastingstories.comFollow Gin on Twitter@gin_stephensConnect with Gin on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Gin-Stephens-370557866639779Read Gin’s book Delay, Don’t DenySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
