WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 8 RECAP
From the stadium to the roads of Budapest, we saw a full day of action for the penultimate day at the World Championships! Chris Chavez, Kyle Merber, Jasmine Todd and David McCarthy unpack Day 8’s biggest moments. We witnessed U.S. sweeps in both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relays, dominant performances in the men’s pole vault and women’s 5000m, inspirational finishes in the women’s marathon, and lots more.
Some of the highlights of Day 8 include:
– Women’s marathon: Amane Bariso became the marathon champion by running 2:24:23 and led a 1-2 Ethiopian finish with Gotytom Gebreslase + Lindsay Flanagan finished inside the top 10 with a 2:27:47 9th place finish for the U.S.
– Men’s 800m final: Marco Arop made a big move on the final backstretch and came away with the victory in 1:44.24 after placing bronze at last year’s championships.
– Women’s 5000m: With a 14:53.88 finish and a 56.69 last lap, Kipyegon held off Sifan Hassan and Beatrice Chebet to win her 2nd gold medal of the week and first in the 5000m.
– Men’s Pole Vault: Mondo Duplantis won his third straight global pole vault title with a 6.10m leap and just barely missed a world record attempt at 6.22m.
– Men’s 4x100m relay: Team USA took the win in a world-leading 37.38 over Jamaica and Italy + Noah Lyles became a triple gold medalist.
– The U.S. women made it a sprint sweep over Jamaica with a 41.03 championship record + Sha’Carri Richardson picked up her 2nd gold & 3rd medal of the championship.

WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 7 RECAP
We’re a full week into the World Championships and the meet just keeps getting better! Chris Chavez, Kyle Merber, and Jasmine Todd are joined again by Mitch Dyer to break down the electric 200m finals on both the men’s and women’s sides, the women’s triple jump where Yulimar Rojas secured gold on her final jump, the stacked 4x100m relay semifinals, and much more.
Day 7’s most notable moments include:
– Women’s 200m: Shericka Jackson won with a 21.41 championship record and 2nd fastest mark of all time + Americans Gabby Thomas and Sha’Carri Richardson took silver and bronze respectively.
– Men’s 200m: Four days after his 100m victory, Noah Lyles returned to the top of the podium with his third straight gold in the 200m with a 19.52 win + the silver and bronze medals went to Erriyon Knighton and Letsile Tebogo.
– Women’s triple jump: After sitting in 8th place heading into her final attempt, Yulimar Rojas leapt 15.08m to win over Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk’s 15.00m jump.
– Keely Hodgkinson ran 1:58.48 for the fastest time heading into the final + Athing Mu got tripped up during the race but managed to qualify for the final with a 1:58.78.
– Men’s 4x100m relay: Team USA and Team Jamaica both advanced smoothly to the final with the U.S. finishing just ahead, 37.67 to 37.68.
– Women’s 4x100m relay: The Jamaican squad cruised through the semifinal with a 41.70 heat win anchored by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Laulauga Tausaga-Collins: The Biggest Surprise At Worlds, Wins The Women's Discus With The Meet Of Her Life
We were joined by Laulauga Tausaga-Collins just two days after she won gold in the women’s discus at the 2023 World Athletic Championships. She had the meet of her life with a huge throw of 69.49 meters to destroy her previous personal best by nearly four meters and won the United States’ first-ever world championship gold in women’s discus.

WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 6 RECAP
We’re over halfway through the World Championships! Chris Chavez, Kyle Merber, Jasmine Todd, and Mitch Dyer are back to dive into the biggest moments of the night. Day 6 of the World Champs delivered – we saw Jamaica come in clutch for the sprint events, a fast men’s 200m semifinal after the golf cart crashed on the way to the stadium, and Femke Bol dominated the 400m hurdles.
Some of the best events from Day 6 include:
– Women’s 400m hurdles final: Femke Bol came back better than ever in the 400m hurdles with an astonishing 51.70 victory.
– Men’s 400m final: Antonio Watson won the men’s 400m in 44.22 + Quincy Hall set a personal best of 44.37 for 3rd place and his first World medal.
– Men’s long jump final: Miltiadis Tentoglou once again came up big on his final attempt by leaping 8.52 meters to claim gold by 2 centimeters.
– Men’s 200m semifinal: After a golf cart crash on the way to the stadium, Noah Lyles threw down a 19.76 to run the fastest qualifying time for the final.

WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY 5 RECAP
Chris Chavez, Kyle Merber, Jasmine Todd, and David Melly are once again joined by guest host Mitch Dyer to break down a jam-packed day at the World Athletics Championships! Day 5 was highlighted by finals in the men’s 1500m, women’s 400m, men’s 400m hurdles, and women’s pole vault among other events.
A few of Day 5’s most notable moments include:
– Men’s 1500m: Josh Kerr ran 3:29.38 to deny Jakob Ingebrigtsen the gold medal + Narve Nordãs snagged bronze to round out the top three.
– Women’s pole vault: Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy became co-World champions in the women’s pole vault following an epic battle ending in a pair of world-leading 4.90m vaults.
– Men’s 400m hurdles final: Karsten Warholm is once again king of the 400m hurdles with a 46.89 victory + Rai Benjamin took home bronze after a season filled with setbacks.
– Women’s 5000m semifinal: 10 women broke 15 minutes, led by a 14:32.29 tape-to-tape performance by Sifan Hassan.
– Marileidy Paulino finally got her gold with a 48.76 victory and Dominican national record.
