Signs Of Change: A Conversation With Anthony Bartlett

This Quoircast Podcast episode is brought to you by Heretic Happy Hour. Whose tagline is burning questions not people. In this episode we chat with Anthony Bartlett. Anthony Bartlett read philosophy and theology at Heythrop Athaneum in Oxfordshire, England, and at London University. Following his ordination to the Roman Catholic priesthood he spent a year studying in Rome. After ten years of ministry, he resigned the official priesthood. In this period of transition he lived in a community of prayer near Assisi in Italy, under the guidance of writer and teacher, Carlo Carretto. The experience around Carretto welcomed many different individuals at the crossroads of traditional Catholicism and the search for fresh perspective and spiritual practice. It was natural that news of a major recent book by René Girard and his extraordinary cross-disciplinary understanding of Christianity should arrive among members of this group. The seed of information planted then eventually matured into contact between Tony and James Williams, professor of the Hebrew Bible in the Syracuse University Department of Religion and prominent Girardian scholar. With Williams' support and encouragement Tony was accepted for doctoral studies in the Department, emigrating to the U.S. with his family, and gaining his degree in 1999. As well as being a founding member of Wood Hath Hope he is the author of numerous articles and books, including Virtually Christian, How Christ Changes Human Meaning and Makes Creation New, and Signs of Change(March, 2022) You can connect with Anthony on: Facebook     Instagram Check out Anthon's blog post on his website Hope In Time You can purchase Anthony's books on Amazon.com You can connect with This Is Not Church on: Facebook     Instagram      Twitter     TikTok     YouTube Also check out our Linktree for all things This Is Not Church related Please like and follow our Quoircast Partners: Heretic Happy Hour     Messy Spirituality     Apostates Anonymous   Each episode of This Is Not Church Podcast is expertly engineered by our producer The Podcast Doctor Eric Howell.
