A Conversation on Readiness with the Secretary of the Air Force

Since taking the helm of the Department of the Air Force last year, Secretary Frank Kendall has set the Air Force on a course to prepare for a conflict with a peer adversary by focusing on seven operational imperatives. Among the seven is the direction to increase the readiness of the department to transition to a wartime posture against a peer competitor. There are reasons to be concerned about Air Force readiness. The combat air force is half the size it was in 1991. Readiness rates, as reflected by flying hours, have decreased to all-time lows with fighter pilots who received more than 200 hours of flying time to prepare for a war with the Soviet Union now receiving less than 120 a year. Aircraft fleet readiness numbers are low. And the Operational Readiness Inspection teams that once evaluated a unit’s ability to rapidly mobilize, generate, and successfully execute combat sorties no longer exist.Join us for a conversation on the key indicators for capacity, capability, and readiness and to hear Secretary Kendall’s ideas and insights on this key topic. Cuba and Venezuela Policy in Biden’s America Last Agenda

The Biden administration has announced the most significant opening to the communist Cuban regime since Obama-era rapprochement and important sanctions relief to the narco-terrorist Maduro regime in Venezuela. These measures will directly enrich these anti-American dictatorships at the expense of their people and of U.S. national security interests.Worse yet, the Biden administration is kowtowing to the Cuba dictatorship’s repeated tactic of weaponizing illegal immigration against the U.S., with the arrival of nearly 80,000 Cubans at the southern border since November and up to 150,000 expected by this year, while continuing to ignore the border crisis. The administration is allowing U.S. companies to engage with Maduro’s collapsed oil sector, while hypocritically refusing to secure American energy independence. Meanwhile, a hostage crisis endures in Venezuela with at least eight Americans held captive by Maduro. The Biden administration should be raising the cost of attacking American sovereignty and American lives, not lowering it. Borrowing a page from Obama-era rapprochement will only serve to embolden anti-U.S. adversaries. Join us as experts explain the administration’s costly errors and policy measures to counter them. The Brink of Another Republican Revolution? Lessons from Representative Dick Armey and the 1994 Congressional Triumph

Few leaders in modern times have made a larger imprint on American economic policy than former House Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas. Along with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Armey helped engineer the 1994 “Republican Revolution” when the GOP took control of the House for the first time in more than 40 years. Armey was an architect of the bipartisan military base closing initiative, he was the leading sponsor of the Flat Tax, and, as House Majority Leader, he helped design the fiscal blueprint that balanced the federal budget for the first and only time in the last 50 years. Join Heritage, The Committee to Unleash Prosperity, and Representative Dick Armey as conservative leaders reflect on Armey’s incredible contributions to the movement, how he and others managed the “Republican Revolution” of 1994, and what to consider looking ahead to the midterm elections. Former Texas Senator Phil Gramm, Heritage founder and former president Ed Feulner, and others take the stage. You won’t want to miss it! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
